Abstract

The workshop on heritage architectural visualization, based on visual ethnography and English heritage interpretation, aimed to develop students’ technical, analytical, and communicative competencies in understanding and interpreting historical buildings. The methods employed included analytical sketching, field observation grounded in visual ethnography, and translating heritage interpretations into English. An interdisciplinary approach involved architecture lecturers from UNM and USU, along with English education lecturers from Universitas Pembinaan Masyarak at Indonesia, enabling the integration of visual design skills, historical understanding, and bilingual communication. Results sho wed significant improvements in perspective accuracy, proportion, material texture, and the ability to read structural and symbolic values of buildings. Students were also able to produce interpretative narratives in English to support professional heritage knowledge dissemination. This model proves effective as a sustaina ble collabor ative learning strategy, combining technical skills, academic reflect ion, & social awareness within an integrated educational framework

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi serta kesadaran siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) terhadap pentingnya penerapan Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) dalam dunia konstruksi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 4 Gowa dengan sasaran siswa jurusan Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan. Metode pelaksanaan berupa ceramah interaktif dan demonstrasi penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) untuk memperkenalkan potensi bahaya kerja dan pentingnya perlindungan diri. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner guna mengetahui persepsi peserta terhadap materi yang disampaikan, efektivitas metode, serta dampak kegiatan terhadap pengetahuan dan kesadaran mereka. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas peserta merasa terbantu dalam memahami pentingnya K3 dan menyatakan ketertarikan untuk menerapkan prinsip keselamatan dalam lingkungan kerja. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman praktis siswa mengenai budaya keselamatan kerja dan diharapkan menjadi langkah awal dalam mencetak generasi tenaga kerja yang sadar dan disiplin dalam menerapkan prinsip zero accident di sektor konstruksi

Abstract

ABSTRACT This community service program aimed to enhance students’ capacity to design shelters for stray cats through a biomimicry approach while also strengthening their public communication competence through an English for Public Awareness Campaign. The activity was conducted at Universitas Negeri Makassar and utilized the digital design technology Autodesk Fusion 360 to produce shelter models that were adaptive to urban environments and the natural behavioral needs of cats. The implementation methods included biomimetic design training, three-dimensional modeling practice, and the development of public awareness campaigns using academic English aligned with the terminology of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding of nature-based design principles, their ability to use design software, and their skills in constructing factual and diplomatic English narratives for public awareness campaigns. The program also encouraged the integration of design innovation, international language literacy, and community participation in efforts to improve urban animal welfare and public environmental awareness. Keywords : Design training, stray cat shelter, biomimicry, english for public awareness campaign ABSTRAK Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas mahasiswa dalam merancang shelter kucing jalanan melalui pendekatan biomimikri serta memperkuat kompetensi komunikasi publik melalui English for Public Awareness Campaign. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Universitas Negeri Makassar dengan memanfaatkan teknologi desain digital Autodesk Fusion 360 untuk menghasilkan model shelter yang adaptif terhadap lingkungan perkotaan dan kebutuhan perilaku alami kucing. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pelatihan desain biomimetik, praktik pemodelan tiga dimensi, serta penyusunan kampanye kesadaran publik berbasis bahasa Inggris akademik yang selaras dengan terminologi Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap prinsip desain berbasis alam, kemampuan penggunaan perangkat lunak desain, serta keterampilan menyusun narasi kampanye publik Bahasa Inggris yang faktual dan diplomatis. Program ini juga mendorong integrasi antara inovasi desain, literasi bahasa internasional, dan partisipasi komunitas dalam upaya meningkatkan kesejahteraan hewan perkotaan serta kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat. Abstract

The early years of childhood are a time when imagination is at its peak, yet the use of colouring activities in educational institutions often remains dictatorial and limits children's expression. This community service programme aims to provide creative stimulation to strengthen children's creativity, fine motor skills, and independence through a liberating approach. The implementation method combines a participatory approach and an inclusive humanistic pedagogy, in which children are given full authority to express themselves through four main stages: orientation to affection, exploration of tools, scaffolding, and reflection and appreciation. Observasi menunjukkan transformasi perilaku dan keterampilan yang signifikan pada tiga domain utama. In the sensorimotor domain, there was an increase in hand-eye coordination in the 4-6 age group and an improvement in the use of gradation techniques in the 7-10 age group. In the cognitive-creative domain, children demonstrated courage in expressing themselves symbolically through the use of unconventional colour palettes to represent their moods. In the psychosocial domain, there was an increase in independence and self-confidence, as evidenced by the children's ability to make decisions without constant validation from adults, as well as their courage to present their work in public. The conclusion of this activity is that a humanistic and liberating art approach is effective in stimulating intrinsic motivation, optimising fine motor skills, and building children's independent character in the long term
