Abstract

The Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program constitutes a central component of Islamic education, fostering students’ spiritual, moral, and intellectual development. However, existing studies largely assess its general effectiveness without focusing on specific student levels or employing comprehensive evaluation frameworks. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the program for 12th-grade students at YAPI Sunni Tegalgondo Islamic Boarding School, particularly in supporting preparation for final examinations.A qualitative descriptive design was employed using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. Data were collected through interviews and observations involving teachers, students, and school leaders. The analysis was conducted systematically across the four CIPP dimensions to ensure a holistic evaluation of program implementation. The findings indicate that the program is well-structured, with organized scheduling, competent instruction, and a strong motivational framework. These elements contribute positively to students’ academic readiness, discipline, and spiritual development. Nonetheless, challenges were identified, particularly in maintaining consistent discipline during halaqah sessions and ensuring equitable mentoring support across all participants. The results underscore the need for continuous refinement of program design, enhancement of teacher professional development, and improved policy strategies. Addressing identified challenges is essential to strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of Qur’an-based educational programs, particularly in preparing students for both academic and spiritual success.

Abstract

This study analyzes Al-Azhar during the Fatimid Dynasty (970–1171 CE) as a center of Islamic education that played a significant role in the development of science, theology, and politics. Using a library research method with a descriptive-historical approach, this study examines Al-Azhar's institutional structure, curriculum, and Islamic educational legacy. The results show that Al-Azhar was initially established as a state mosque and served as a means of disseminating Shia Ismaili ideology as well as an educational center that integrated religious knowledge with rational sciences such as logic, philosophy, and astronomy. Support from the Fatimid Caliphate and the waqf (endowment) system were key factors in sustaining the institution's survival. After the fall of the Fatimids, Al-Azhar transformed into an inclusive Sunni educational institution while maintaining its intellectual heritage. This study confirms that Al-Azhar's educational model during the Fatimid era contributed significantly to the emergence of the madrasah system and modern Islamic education, while also providing important lessons on the integration of religious knowledge and science, waqf-based funding, and collaboration between the state and educational institutions.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) on social interactions and academic performance among students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gatak Program Khusus. The rapid growth of social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp has led to increased anxiety among students who fear missing out on social trends and activities, which in turn affects their social behavior and academic engagement. This qualitative study, using interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, reveals that FOMO significantly disrupts face-to-face interactions and decreases focus on academic tasks. However, FOMO also has a positive aspect when students apply it to competitive extracurricular activities. The study emphasizes the need for schools to implement educational programs that promote healthy social media use, improve offline social interactions, and create policies to help students balance online engagement with academic focus. The findings underline the importance of managing FOMO for both social well-being and academic success.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of knowledge in Islam through the lens of the Islamic worldview, arguing that the issue is crucial in an age where scientific development is often shaped by secular assumptions. Although previous studies have highlighted differences between Islamic and Western epistemologies, they have rarely explored how revelation and reason can be systematically integrated and operationalized within contemporary scientific and educational practices. Accordingly, this study asks: how does the Islamic worldview conceptualize knowledge, and how can this vision inform the development of modern science and society? Using a qualitative, library-based design, the research analyzes classical and contemporary works, journal articles, and conference papers related to epistemology, ontology, and Islam science relations. Data were collected through purposive literature selection and analyzed thematically, moving from conceptual mapping, comparison, and synthesis toward evaluative interpretation. The findings reveal that knowledge in Islam is simultaneously rational, empirical, moral, and spiritual rooted in tawhid and oriented toward human flourishing. The study contributes a more holistic framework for integrating revelation and reason and recommends future work on curriculum design, policy alignment, and applied models linking ethics, spirituality, and scientific practice.

Abstract

The 21st century's digital disruption, intensified mobility, and the resurgence of identity-based polarization have reconfigured the aims of education beyond cognitive achievement toward ethical agency, intercultural competence, and socially responsible citizenship. This article examines how Indonesian pesantren-Islamic boarding schools with a long tradition of moral formation-cultivate multicultural character and what lessons their value-based ecology offers for global educational development. Using library research, the study conducts a philosophical and conceptual content analysis of peer-reviewed scholarship, pesantren-related policy and curricular documents, and global education frameworks, especially Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development. The synthesis indicates that pesantren operationalize multicultural character through (1) ethical-theological foundations such as rahmatan lil 'alamin and ukhuwah insaniyah, (2) communal pedagogies emphasizing exemplary leadership (uswah), habituation, and community learning, and (3) adaptive innovations that integrate digital literacy with moral restraint. These practices foster moderation, empathy, inclusivity, and civic responsibility-capabilities aligned with 21st-century learning agendas. The article proposes a Pesantren-Based Multicultural Character Education Model (PBMCEM) as a transferable conceptual framework. Implications are discussed for curriculum design, teacher formation, and policy, highlighting how localized religious-moral traditions can inform internationally relevant strategies for multicultural character education.

Abstract

The phenomenon of low literacy quality in Indonesia is a very urgent problem to be overcome, considering that literacy is a basic skill that is very important for every individual, especially students. Literacy not only includes the ability to read and write, but also includes the skills of critical thinking, analyzing, and understanding information. With low literacy skills among students, this hinders their ability to access the more complex knowledge needed in later education. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that affect the low quality of literacy in Indonesia and explore the development of innovative literacy teaching models that can be implemented in primary schools. In addition, this study also aims to provide recommendations for the development of education policies related to literacy. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data was collected from relevant scientific literature, including journal articles, reference books, and conference articles. The main focus of this study is the text-based and technology-based literacy teaching model, as well as its relationship with students' critical thinking skills. The analysis technique used is thematic analysis to identify patterns and trends related to the research topic. Based on the research that was found, the low quality of literacy in Indonesia is caused by several factors, including lack of access to quality teaching materials, limited resources, and lack of teachers' skills in using technology in teaching literacy. The use of digital technologies such as e-books and gamification-based learning platforms can increase students' reading interest and improve their literacy skills. Literacy teaching models that integrate project-based and text-based approaches have proven effective in improving students' understanding and skills in literacy. This study concludes that to improve the quality of literacy in Indonesia, there needs to be reforms in teacher training, with a focus on integrating technology in literacy teaching. Teaching models that combine technology and text-based methods can be an effective solution to address literacy challenges in Indonesia. This research contributes to the development of literacy-based education policies that are more relevant and applicable at the elementary school level.
