Abstract

This study is motivated by the limitations of systems that can represent the working principles of elevators in a practical and applicative manner within the field of control systems. The purpose of this research is to design and develop a mini elevator prototype based on two Arduino Uno microcontrollers communicating via the Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) protocol. The method used is experimental research with a system engineering approach, including system design, assembly, programming, and testing stages. The proposed system consists of a master Arduino as the main controller and a slave Arduino for controlling the automatic door system and sensors. The main components include a DC motor as the driving system, limit switches as position sensors, an ultrasonic sensor for safety detection, and a servo motor for the automatic door mechanism. The test results show that the system is capable of responding quickly to button inputs, accurately stopping the motor based on limit switch signals, and operating the automatic door system effectively. Furthermore, I2C communication between the two microcontrollers runs stably and in real-time. Therefore, the proposed prototype successfully implements a closed-loop control system and can serve as a reference for the development of microcontroller-based control systems.

Abstract

Abstrak Desa Gorat Pallombuan di Kabupaten Samosir merupakan komunitas pertanian yang menghadapi kendala aksesibilitas dan krisis pemenuhan air bersih. Kualitas air yang keruh dan berbau, tingginya ketergantungan pada pompa air berbahan bakar minyak, serta ketiadaan sistem pengelolaan yang terstruktur mengakibatkan degradasi infrastruktur dan defisit tenaga pemeliharaan terampil. Sebagai solusi atas permasalahan tersebut, diimplementasikan sistem pompa air tenaga surya (PLTS) terintegrasi yang efisien dan ramah lingkungan. Sistem ini ditenagai oleh panel surya berkapasitas 550 Wp guna mengeleminasi penggunaan bahan bakar fosil, serta dikombinasikan dengan unit filtrasi dua tahap untuk proses purifikasi. Selain itu, infrastruktur tandon bertingkat diinstalasi guna mengoptimalkan distribusi air menuju pemukiman dataran tinggi. Metode pelaksanaan program mencakup sosialisasi, instalasi teknologi, pelatihan teknis operasional, hingga pendampingan selama tiga bulan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan keberhasilan penyediaan suplai air bersih berkelanjutan yang mampu melayani 22 Kepala Keluarga (KK). Kinerja sistem dibuktikan dengan peningkatan kualitas air, yang ditandai oleh penurunan kadar Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) dari 305 mg/L menjadi 98 mg/L. Secara sosio-ekonomi, penerapan teknologi ini berhasil menekan biaya operasional air masyarakat hingga menjadi Rp0 per KK per bulan. Guna menjamin keberlanjutan program jangka panjang, telah dibentuk tim pengelola desa mandiri yang beranggotakan lima orang personel terlatih. Kata kunci: pompa air tenaga surya; penyediaan air bersih; energi terbarukan; kualitas air; pemberdayaan masyarakat. Abstract Gorat Pallombuan Village in Samosir Regency is an agricultural community facing accessibility constraints and a crisis in clean water provision. Poor water quality, characterized by turbidity and odor, coupled with a high reliance on fossil fuel-powered water pumps and the absence of a structured management system, has led to infrastructural degradation and a deficit in skilled maintenance personnel. As a solution to these challenges, an integrated, efficient, and eco-friendly solar-powered water pumping system was implemented. The system is powered by a 550 Wp solar panel to eliminate dependence on fossil fuels and is integrated with a two-stage filtration unit for water purification. Additionally, a multi-tiered reservoir infrastructure was installed to optimize water distribution to elevated residential areas. The program's implementation framework encompassed community socialization, technology installation, technical operational training, and a three-month mentoring period. The results demonstrate the successful provision of a sustainable clean water supply capable of serving 22 households. The system's performance is evidenced by a significant improvement in water quality, indicated by a reduction in Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) from 305 mg/L to 98 mg/L. Socioeconomically, the application of this technology successfully reduced the community's operational water costs to IDR 0 per household per month. To ensure long-term program sustainability, an independent village management team comprising five trained personnel was established. Keywords: solar water pump; clean water provision; renewable energy; water quality; community empowerment.
