Abstract

Cervical cancer is among the cancers with a high mortality rate. Therefore, it is crucial to understand and prevent this cancer. One of the preventive measures is through vaccination against the causal pathogen, Human papillomavirus (HPV). One of the target groups in cervical cancer prevention is teenagers in high school. To enhance the understanding of cervical cancer and HPV vaccine, an educational campaign was provided to SMK Negeri 1 Pangkalan Kerinci students. The students were given educational videos through Instagram social media as well as a face-to-face lecture. The result showed an increase in the students’ knowledge on cervical cancer and HPV vaccine. This activity showed that Instagram social media can be utilised as a health education medium to teenagers.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of breed and age on serum testosterone concentrations in intact male cats. A total of thirty (n=30) clinically healthy, intact male cats of various breeds and age groups were recruited from privately owned households in Pekanbaru, Riau Province, Indonesia. Information on age and breed was obtained from structured owner questionnaires. Blood samples were collected aseptically from the jugular vein and processed to obtain serum, which was stored at –20°C until analysis. Serum testosterone concentrations were measured using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method, and data were statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics software with a significance level of α = 0.05 (95% confidence interval). The study revealed a significant difference between age and serum testosterone levels. In contrast, no significant difference was found between breed and testosterone concentration. These findings provide preliminary reference data for future research in feline reproductive endocrinology and may serve as a foundation for assessing androgenic function in domestic cats.
