Abstract

Gender issues are being discussed, especially regarding the roles of men and women in domestic and public sectors. How about the issue of gender equality during the da’wah period of the Prophet. This paper discusses gender equality in the da’wah of the Prophet Muhammad. Qira'ah Mubadalah (a progressive interpretation of gender equality in Islam) is the main source of literature research with a historical approach used to analyze gender equality during the time of da’wah by Prophet Muhammad. This research aims to provide a picture to society about the application of gender equality in modern era. Since the inception of Islam, Rasulullah SAW. has provided an understanding of equality for men and women. The da’wah of Rasulullah SAW. regarding equality is evident from the roles of men and women who both took allegiance, migrated, and were involved in Islamic wars. It can be said that there is gender equality in the preaching of the Prophet Muhammad. Besides that, women also do various jobs that at that time are in the public sector. This indicates that women are not only bound by domestic roles, as well as men who are not only bound by public roles. Gender equality is no longer a polemic to get a position for men and women because each has the opportunity and the role to be involved in public and domestic activities.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the author's interest in the urgency of training for religious preachers to improve their quality, as well as the issue of inconsistent quality among religious preachers. This research uses a qualitative research type with a phenomenological approach. The data type used in this study is descriptive qualitative data. The research findings indicate that: 1) The role of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in managing mubaligh training is carried out and evaluated by the Islamic Community Guidance Section. In its implementation, the Islamic Community Guidance Section conducts training every year with the aim of aligning the goals and messages of the Ministry of Religious Affairs with the mubaligh. The training for religious preachers also aims to ensure that the quality of preachers is consistent. 2) The Ministry of Religious Affairs does not have specific standards for evaluating the management of mubaligh training, so clear evaluation standards are needed for conducting evaluations. 3) The Ministry of Religious Affairs understands training needs and requires better training concept design. This research is important to understand the role of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in evaluating the management of mubaligh training to improve the quality of da'wah in Parepare City.

Abstract

Cultural da'wah has become an integral part of the history of da'wah development in Indonesia, including Anre Gurutta’ K.H. Muhammad As'ad, founder of the As'sadiyah Islamic Boarding School in Wajo, South Sulawesi. This study aims to analyze the patterns of religious authority of Anre Gurutta’ K.H. Muhammad As'ad and his role in cultural da'wah strategies that contributed to the spread of Islam in South Sulawesi. A descriptive qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach was used to analyze and narratively present all aspects related to the relevance of religious authority in the implementation of cultural da'wah in traditional Islamic boarding schools in South Sulawesi, based on observations and interviews with the relevant sources. The results of this study indicate that the religious authority of Anre Gurutta’ K.H. Muhammad As'ad was shaped by traditional, rational-legal, and charismatic authority, which contributed to the spread of pesantren-based cultural da'wah in South Sulawesi. The role of religious authority figures is expected to strengthen religious moderation through cultural da'wah in Indonesia.
