Abstract

Physical and mental fatigue resulting from continuous work over an extended period without sufficient rest. Work fatigue can affect workers in all sectors, both informal and formal, but several factors influence the fatigue levels in each sector. Informal sector workers typically operate in irregular conditions, without fixed working hours, and work for extended periods to meet their livelihood needs. Meanwhile, formal sector workers often have more regular working hours and definite rest periods. However, formal sector workers may also experience similar fatigue due to high job demands, pressure from superiors, or tight deadlines. The consequences of fatigue can lead to serious physical and mental health issues, such as stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and even depression. Therefore, it is crucial for workers in both sectors to pay attention to their health and well-being and take measures to prevent fatigue and cope with work-related stress. The research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. There were 122 respondents, comprising 61 from the informal sector and 61 from the formal sector. The research findings indicated that the level of fatigue experienced by workers in both sectors was severe, with 78 (63.9%) of informal sector workers predominantly facing this fatigue

Abstract

Construction accounts for one-third of all workplace fatalities, and construction workers have six times the risk of dying on the job compared to other sectors. Minor injuries are significant contributors to workplace accident records, with factors such as overtime and lighting playing a role. The objective of this study is to analyze the factors associated with minor injuries. The research utilized a quantitative approach with observational analytical methods, conducting a cross-sectional survey. A questionnaire was used to gather data on characteristics, overtime hours (standard of 4 hours), minor injuries, and lighting measurements (LUX Meter) with a standard of 100 lux at PT. Adhi Karya's Glapan Timur Irrigation Rehabilitation Project. The sample consisted of 53 respondents. The results of lighting measurements showed that 28 respondents (52.8%) were exposed to lighting intensity "Below Standard" and 25 respondents (47.2%) were exposed to lighting intensity "Within Standard." There was a significant relationship between lighting and the incidence of minor injuries among construction workers, with a p-value of 0.021 and an OR = 3.750. Additionally, there was a relationship between overtime and the incidence of minor injuries, with a p-value of 0.025 and an OR = 3.630. Both independent variables were associated with minor injuries.

Abstract

Traffic-related accidents involving university students, particularly those aged 18–25, have become a growing concern in Indonesia, with many incidents occurring due to inadequate infrastructure and lack of traffic discipline in densely populated campus environments. This community service program was initiated by Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) in Semarang to address these challenges through the establishment of a “Campus Safety Riding Zone.” The program aimed to increase road safety awareness, promote safe behavior among students and residents, and improve campus-area traffic infrastructure. Activities included coordination with local authorities, painting red-marked safe zones and zebra crossings, installing speed limit signs (30 km/h), and distributing an educational pocketbook titled “Crossing Etiquette on Campus” The intervention area, located on Nakula I Street, was selected due to its high traffic volume between the subdistrict office and UDINUS Building A. Post-intervention observations indicated that drivers generally reduced their speed when entering the safety zone, although issues like improper parking persisted. The initiative demonstrated that a combination of infrastructure enhancement, community education, and multi-stakeholder collaboration can effectively foster a safer traffic culture in university environments. This model offers a replicable framework for other higher education institutions to support student and pedestrian safety through community-based strategies.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia's growing transportation demands have increased reliance on bus services across Central Java Province. Despite their importance, driver health remains understudied, even as driver factors account for 65% of public transportation accidents. This study investigates differences in health characteristics among bus drivers across three distinct routes: Trans Jateng, BRT Semarang City, and Inter-City Bus Transportation Services Between Semarang-Surakarta. Methods: This quantitative cross-sectional study conducted in Semarang City and Surakarta City examined 210 bus drivers between January 2023-August 2024 using interviews, questionnaires and stature meters. Variables included age, sleep duration, fatigue levels (using the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee questionnaire), and Body Mass Index. Analysis employed Kruskal-Wallis tests followed by Mann-Whitney post-hoc tests with Bonferroni correction. Results: Analysis revealed significant differences across all variables (p<0.001). Trans Jateng drivers (mean age 43.1 years) demonstrated optimal sleep (7.0 hours), low fatigue levels (88.6%), and healthier BMI profiles (74.3% normal). BRT Semarang City drivers (mean age 44.2 years) showed paradoxical characteristics with longest sleep duration (9.5 hours) yet highest fatigue levels (80% very high) and poor BMI profiles (84.3% overweight/obese). Inter-City drivers, despite being older (mean age 51.4 years) with shortest sleep duration (5.4 hours), showed moderate fatigue adaptation (92.9%) and similar BMI concerns (84.2% overweight/obese). Conclusion: Significant differences (p<0.001) exist among three public transport driver groups. Trans Jateng showed the best health profile, BRT Semarang City paradoxical with long sleep yet high fatigue, and Inter-City adaptive despite insufficient sleep. Sleep duration does not correlate with fatigue levels. Group-specific health interventions are needed.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the epidemiological characteristics of people with hypertension in Puguh Village, Kendal Regency during the third quarter of 2024. Using a descriptive research design with a population of 110 respondents, data was collected using Kobotoolbox and analyzed using statistical software. The results show that the majority of respondents were female (73.6%), aged 31-90 years (87.3%), had elementary school education (48.2%), and worked in the informal sector (46.4%). Respondents' knowledge level about hypertension was fairly good, with 94.5% understanding the term hypertension and 98.2% being aware of its risks for heart disease and stroke. However, knowledge about risk factors such as smoking remained low (34.5%). Regarding attitudes, 90.9% of respondents agreed on the importance of regular blood pressure checks, and 92.7% supported regular physical activity. An area still needing attention is the understanding of the relationship between obesity and hypertension, where only 51.9% of respondents understood the correlation. This study recommends strengthening education about lifestyle modification risk factors, developing specific educational programs about the dangers of smoking, and implementing more innovative educational media to improve the community's comprehensive understanding of hypertension.
