Abstract

Abstract Overweight is a health problem worldwide, affecting not only developed countries but also developing countries. A recent obesity survey in junior high school students in Yogyakarta showed that 7.8% of teenagers in urban areas and 2% of adolescents in rural areas were obese. In 2011, 3.71% from 16,579 adolescents aged 16 in Semarang were over nutrition. This study aimed to determine if fiber and fast food consumption were correlated with over nutrients. This research was conducted in Semarang with 65 adolescent students as respondents. The independent variables were the pattern of fast food and fiber consumption, while the dependent variable is nutritional status. The data were analyzed with chi square test. The result showed that 58.5% of respondents were malnourished, which consists of underweight, overweight, obese I and obese II; while 41.5% of them were normal in nutrition status. It could be said that the teenagers had a problem with nutritional status. Fast food consumption (p = 0.21) and fiber consumption (p = 0.43) were not significantly associated with overweight. Most respondents consume fast food frequently (95.4%) and consume fiber less (84.6%).

Abstract

Stunting is a significant public health problem, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. It is often caused by chronic malnutrition in the first 1,000 days of life, which can impact a child's physical growth and cognitive development. To find risk factors and find effective solutions, data analysis was conducted by utilising machine learning to predict stunting. This research uses the Random Forest algorithm with a focus on setting parameters such as n_estimators, max_depth, and the number of features to optimise model efficiency and accuracy. Using the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey data consisting of 25,800 data, this study managed to get the highest accuracy of 91.65% by a combination of Random Forest with parameter settings n_estimators 200, max_depth 30, and Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). Despite the high accuracy results, there are limitations such as potential noise coming from synthetic data from SMOTE and the limited number of features analysed. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the field of machine learning model development that is practically used to predict stunting, and support the government's efforts to reduce the stunting prevalence rate to 14% as targeted. This model also provides strategic insights for policy makers to design more effective data-driven interventions, which can help in decision making.

Abstract

Puskesmas Pegirian, Surabaya, in several aspects was still in the less than good category in 2022. This research aims to determine the performance of Puskesmas Pegirian based on four balanced scorecard perspectives. This type of research was quantitative descriptive with a sampling technique using a quota sampling technique, namely with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection technique was carried out using a questionnaire distributed to officer respondents and patient respondents. The results of the study show that the performance of the Puskesmas Pegirian when viewed from four balanced scorecard perspectives was in the fairly good category, namely 50%. The results of this study were influenced by the financial perspective and customer perspective as internal aspects and the internal business process perspective and the growth and income perspective as external aspects. In this study, there was an imbalance where the health center tended to focus more on the internal aspects, namely with a total score of 3 while the external aspects had a total score of 2. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate and improve the four perspectives that have not yet reached the target. So that in further research there can be improvements in each aspect.

Abstract

Adolescents are prone to nutrition problems due to low nutrition literacy and unhealthy eating patterns. In Indonesia, the prevalence of chronic energy deficiency (CED), central obesity, and anemia in adolescents is still high, potentially increasing infectious diseases in adulthood. The literature review method was used in this study through a systematic search through BioMed, Googe Scholar, Pubmed, Science Direct, and SAGE databases. Articles that met the inclusion criteria and were published between 2020-2024 and were relevant to nutrition literacy, eating habits, and nutritional status of adolescents were further analyzed. Analysis of the 7 selected articles showed that good nutrition literacy was positively associated with healthier food choices. However, good nutrition literacy is not sufficient without a supportive environment and behavioral skills. Nutritional literacy and adolescent diets are influenced by factors such as socioeconomic status, maternal education, and access to health services. A comprehensive approach through school education, family roles, and policies that contribute to improving nutrition literacy in adolescents is needed. Preventing obesity and non-communicable diseases in the future is important by strengthening nutrition literacy. Prioritizing applicable skills such as healthy cooking, and reading food labels in support of sustainable behavior change is recommended for future interventions.

Abstract

Weather variability influences the occurrence of medical emergencies that require rapid response, particularly in urban areas with high population density. This study aimed to analyze the effects of temperature, relative humidity, and rainfall on the number of daily PSC 119 calls in Semarang City. An ecological time-series design was applied using daily call records and meteorological data collected over 365 days in 2024, analyzed with a Distributed Lag Non-linear Model combined with quasi-Poisson regression to estimate risks across lag periods. The results show that both low and high temperatures substantially increased the risk of PSC 119 calls compared with the reference temperature. Moderate humidity was associated with higher risk, while very high humidity demonstrated a protective effect. Rainfall, particularly no-rain to light-rain conditions, also contributed to increased call frequency. Most weather-related effects occurred within 0–3 days, indicating an acute pattern of influence. These findings highlight the importance of integrating weather prediction into emergency preparedness systems to support workforce planning, resource allocation, and operational response. Further studies incorporating call-type classifications and additional environmental variables are recommended to improve understanding of weather-related emergency service demand.
