Abstract

ABSTRACT Corruption is a serious crime that has widespread impacts on social welfare, economic development, and public trust. Ironically, corrupt practices are also found within police institutions, which are responsible for law enforcement and anti-corruption efforts. This study aimed to examine the influence of love of money, salary satisfaction, and integrity on corruption tendencies among police officers. A quantitative survey design was employed in this research. Data were collected using questionnaires consisting of four measurement scales from 222 police officers serving at the East Jakarta Police Resort, Indonesia. Multiple regression analysis was applied to determine the effects of the independent variables on corruption tendencies. The findings revealed that love of money and integrity significantly influenced corruption tendencies among police officers, whereas salary satisfaction had no significant effect. In addition, the results indicated that 51% of respondents were classified as having a high potential for corruption. These findings suggest that psychological factors, particularly excessive attachment to money and low integrity, play a more substantial role in explaining corruption tendencies than salary satisfaction. The study highlights the importance of strengthening integrity and ethical values as key strategies for preventing corruption within police institutions. These findings suggest that psychological and moral factors, particularly love of money and integrity, play a more substantial role in predicting corruption tendencies among police officers than salary satisfaction. Strengthening integrity-based interventions may therefore be an effective strategy for corruption prevention within law enforcement institutions.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to evaluate the construct validity and factor structure of the Indonesian version of the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3. Methodology: A quantitative methodological validation design was conducted with 132 Indonesian science teachers selected through purposive sampling. The instrument was culturally adapted through forward translation, back translation, expert content validation, and pilot testing. Construct validity was examined using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), including the Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin (KMO) measure, Bartlett's Test of Sphericity, Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA), and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with Varimax rotation. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha. Main Findings: The Indonesian version demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties. The KMO value (0.795) and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity (p < .001) confirmed the suitability of the data for factor analysis. All items achieved MSA values and factor loadings above 0.50. EFA identified a six-factor structure, supporting the multidimensional nature of loneliness among Indonesian teachers and providing evidence of acceptable construct validity. Novelty/Originality of this study: The findings indicate that the Indonesian version of the UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing teacher loneliness. This study provides the first psychometric validation of the scale among Indonesian teachers. The validated instrument offers practical implications for educational psychology research, psychological assessment, and the development of interventions to promote teachers' psychological well-being.

Abstract

Drivers of hazardous materials (B3) are a group of workers who face high occupational risks, both in terms of physical safety and mental health. Heavy workloads, long working hours, pressure to maintain safety, and the risk of accidents can have a negative impact on their quality of life. This community service activity aims to increase the understanding of B3 transport drivers regarding the importance of maintaining quality of life, which includes physical, psychological, social, and work environment aspects. The methods used in this activity are educational and participatory approaches through socialisation, interactive discussions, and psychoeducation approaches related to occupational health. The results of the activity show that most participants do not yet fully understand the concept of quality of life as a whole, but they show great enthusiasm for topics such as stress management, work fatigue, and work-life balance. This programme is expected to serve as an example of a sustainable community service activity in supporting the occupational safety and welfare of B3 transport drivers.
