Abstract

Auditory hallucination is a primary form of sensory-perceptual distortion in patients with mental disorders that requires a safe, non-pharmacological approach through Beethoven's classical music therapy. This study aims to analyze the application of Beethoven's classical music therapy in reducing this sensory-perceptual distortion of auditory hallucinations. This research employed a descriptive method with a case study approach involving two subjects, Mr. S and Mr. A, at the Yayasan Islam Darul Iman At-Thorfiyah Karawang. Scheduled nursing interventions were carried out over three days, and the progression of symptoms was measured using the Auditory Hallucination Rating Scale (AHRS) instrument. The results of the study indicated a decrease in hallucination scores for both subjects. Mr. S's AHRS score, which was initially 19 (moderate category), decreased to 13 (moderate category), while Mr. A's score, initially 17 (moderate category), reached 12 (shifting from the moderate to mild category) and demonstrated an increased ability to control hallucinations. Consequently, Beethoven's classical music therapy is proven effective in reducing the intensity level of auditory hallucinations, and is therefore recommended as an applicable independent nursing care intervention in psychiatric rehabilitation.

Abstract

Background: The rapid growth of digital technology has transformed children's learning and communication patterns while simultaneously increasing their exposure to digital risks, including excessive gadget use, cyberbullying, inappropriate online content, and internet addiction. Parents play a fundamental role in protecting children from these risks through effective parental mediation strategies. The implementation of such strategies may be influenced by several factors, including parental digital literacy, parenting style, educational level, age, and socioeconomic status. However, evidence regarding the determinants of parental mediation strategies among parents of elementary school children in Indonesia remains limited. Purpose: To identify factors associated with parental mediation strategies for managing children's gadget use. Method: A quantitative analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 60 parents of first- and second-grade students at SDIT Sehati Bina Insani, Karawang. Total sampling was employed to recruit all eligible participants. Data were collected using validated questionnaires assessing respondents' characteristics, parental digital literacy, parenting style, and parental mediation strategies. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize respondent characteristics, while Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests were performed to examine associations between independent variables and parental mediation strategies. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to estimate the strength of associations, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. Results: Parenting style and parental digital literacy were significantly associated with parental mediation strategies (p = 0.001 and p < 0.001, respectively). In contrast, parental age (p = 0.962), educational level (p = 0.418), and family income (p = 0.238) were not significantly associated with parental mediation strategies. Parental digital literacy was identified as the strongest predictor of effective parental mediation (OR = 18.21; 95% CI: 4.16–79.69), followed by democratic parenting style (OR = 6.31; 95% CI: 2.11–18.85). Conclusion: Parental digital literacy and parenting style are significant determinants of effective parental mediation strategies for children's gadget use. Parents with higher digital literacy and democratic parenting practices are more likely to implement effective mediation strategies. Strengthening parents' digital literacy through school- and community-based educational programs may enhance children's safe and responsible use of digital technology.

Abstract

Background: The early postpartum period is challenging for mothers, particularly after a Caesarean section (CS), due to surgical wound pain, limited mobility, fatigue, and anxiety regarding delayed or insufficient breast milk flow. Oxytocin massage serves as a simple approach to support the lactation process. Purpose: To enhance the knowledge and skills of post-CS mothers regarding oxytocin massage, breastfeeding, breast pumping, and the handling and storage of expressed breast milk. Method: The activity was conducted in June 2026 in the postpartum ward of Dewi Sri Hospital, Karawang. The target participants were eight post-CS mothers receiving care in the hospital's postpartum ward. Education was delivered through lectures, interactive discussions, and Q&A sessions, complemented by practical demonstrations. Participants' knowledge and understanding were evaluated through observations of simulations during the educational session and their actual practice of oxytocin massage. The evaluation results were analyzed descriptively to assess the educational activity's success and the participants' ability to independently perform oxytocin massage and handle breast milk. Results: Improvements were observed in knowledge regarding the definition of breast milk, the lactation process, and oxytocin. Regarding skills, the majority of participants demonstrated the ability to perform oxytocin massage independently, thereby boosting their confidence to seek health consultations should they encounter issues related to oxytocin massage and their post-CS recovery. Participants also established a more regular breastfeeding routine approximately every two hours and became more active in independent breast pumping. Conclusion: The outreach and demonstration activities regarding oxytocin massage for post-cesarean section mothers were successfully conducted. There was an increase in breast milk output from the first to the third day, leading mothers to breastfeed more regularly—approximately every two hours—and to more actively express milk independently. The activity was also effective in enhancing the mothers' knowledge, skills, and confidence regarding milk expression techniques, as well as the independent handling and storage of expressed breast milk. Suggestion: Healthcare facilities are encouraged to provide education on oxytocin massage to every patient undergoing a cesarean section as a form of non-pharmacological support within lactation services for post-cesarean mothers. Keywords: Breast milk; Health education; Oxytocin massage; Milk expression; Post-cesarean section Pendahuluan: Masa awal setelah persalinan merupakan periode yang menantang bagi ibu, terutama setelah sectio caesarea (SC), akibat nyeri luka operasi, keterbatasan gerak, kelelahan, dan kekhawatiran ketika ASI belum keluar lancar.
