Abstract

This article aims to analyze the dynamics of understanding the concept of destiny (taqdir) and its influence on the religious behavior of students in the modern education era. The problem focuses on the tendency of fatalistic views that have the potential to hinder students' learning motivation and creativity. To approach this issue, theoretical frameworks from Islamic theology regarding taqdir mubram and muallaq, as well as the sociology of religion, are used. Data were collected through library research by examining relevant literature such as books and scientific journals, then analyzed qualitatively through data reduction and conclusion drawing. The results show that the understanding of destiny among students is dynamic; some use it as spiritual motivation, while others are trapped in fatalism, believing human effort has no influence on outcomes. This study concludes that Islamic religious education plays a strategic role in providing a balanced understanding between divine decree and the obligation of human effort (ikhtiar). Contextual and reflective internalization of religious values is essential so that students possess optimism, academic responsibility, and resilience in facing modern challenges without neglecting spiritual aspects.
