Abstract

Authentic assessment and performance-based evaluation are increasingly relevant assessment approaches in 21st-century learning, emphasizing the development of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and contextual problem-solving skills. However, the implementation of these two approaches in the field still faces various obstacles, including low teacher assessment literacy and limited adequate assessment instruments. This study aims to analyze the concepts, characteristics, implementation strategies, and challenges of authentic assessment and performance-based evaluation through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were collected from national journals accredited by SINTA 4 and SINTA 5 and relevant literature published between 2021 and 2026. The analysis was conducted with reference to the PRISMA guidelines through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion, resulting in a final total of 13 articles. The results indicate that authentic assessment is able to assess students' learning outcomes holistically across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, while performance-based evaluation emphasizes students' ability to demonstrate competency through real-world tasks. Both approaches have been proven to contribute to increasing learning engagement and mastery of 21st-century competencies. However, optimal implementation requires teacher preparedness, systematic planning, and adequate institutional support.

Abstract

The rapid development of globalization, digitalization, and social change has created new challenges in educational management. Education systems are required to adapt to the dynamics of modern developments in order to produce competent, adaptive, and character-driven human resources. This article aims to analyze several contemporary issues in educational management, particularly education in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0, strengthening character education through the Pancasila Student Profile, disparities in educational quality between regions, and governance of higher education facing the challenges of internationalization. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing relevant scientific journals, books, and educational policy documents. The results indicate that digital transformation in education is inevitable, but it must be balanced with the strengthening of character values. In addition, disparities in educational quality between regions remain a major challenge that requires more effective equity policies. At the higher education level, improving governance and internationalization has become an important strategy to enhance global competitiveness. Therefore, synergy between the government, educational institutions, and society is needed to manage education in an innovative and sustainable manner

Abstract

Education has a strategic role in shaping human resources that are not only academically excellent but also possess strong character values. Teachers act as role models in the character-building process of students through exemplary behavior, guidance, and motivation. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers as role models in character formation, the process of character development through exemplary practices, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors involved. This research employed a qualitative approach using a literature study method on seven relevant scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026. The findings indicate that teachers have multidimensional roles as exemplars, mentors, and motivators. The process of character formation occurs through modeling mechanisms, namely observation, imitation, internalization, and habituation. Supporting factors include a conducive school environment, collaboration with parents, and the integration of character values into learning activities. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include teachers’ lack of consistency, external environmental influences, and the gap between theory and practice. Therefore, the role of teachers as role models is a key factor in the success of character education.
