<![CDATA[This study aims to determine how social control shapes self-control among yaoi anime fans in Pontianak City District, analyzing aspects of attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief in social norms. A qualitative, descriptive approach was used in this study. The yaoi anime fans comprised five early adults selected using purposive sampling. Data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation were then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that yaoi anime fans maintain good relationships with family, friends, and the community and continue to pursue educational and work activities. They also understand religious, moral, and social norms prevailing in society. However, this does not stop them from watching yaoi anime. They continue to consider yaoi anime as a form of entertainment, part of their personal interests, and strive to regulate their behavior by maintaining privacy, managing their viewing time, and refraining from publicly displaying their passion for yaoi anime to avoid conflict with their social circle. This study concludes that social control plays a role in shaping self-control among yaoi anime fans, but does not completely eliminate the habit of watching yaoi anime. Self-control can be seen from the way informants regulate and limit their behavior in order to remain accepted in social life.]]>
