This study examines the use of jargon in the film “Bebas”, directed by Riri Riza. The film focuses on friendship, love and nostalgia, and features two distinct time periods: the characters’ high school years in the 1990s and their adult lives. The aim of this study is to analyse the use of jargon in the film “Bebas”. Jargon reflects specific cultural and social contexts, so this study examines the linguistic variations used in the film. A qualitative descriptive method was used to identify and categorise the jargon contained in the film’s dialogue and narration. The data collection methods employed in this study involved listening and note-taking techniques. These techniques were used to watch the film and record the variations in jargon to be utilised in this study. The data obtained were analysed using interactive techniques. The findings of this study highlight the importance of the role of jargon in strengthening characterisation, creating an authentic atmosphere, and conveying specific ideas or themes related to the story’s background and context. The analysis also shows that the use of jargon in the film “Bebas” can enhance audience awareness and participation, as well as improve the film’s aesthetic value.dalam bahasa Inggris.
