This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Four Square Writing method assisted by YouTube media in the form of folk tales in improving the ability of seventh-grade students at SMPN 3 Karawang Timur to write response texts. This study employed a quantitative approach combined with a quasi-experimental method. The sample consisted of class VII A as the experimental class and class VII D as the control class, with 28 students in each class. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The research instruments were validated through expert judgment involving four validators, consisting of two lecturers from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education program and two Indonesian language teachers. Cronbach's Alpha was used to assess instrument reliability with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample T-test procedures. The results indicated that the data met the assumptions of normality and homogeneity. Furthermore, hypothesis testing yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.004 (<0.05). The findings demonstrate that the implementation of the Four Square Writing method assisted by YouTube media is effective in improving students' ability to write response texts.
