Abstract

Sujok therapy is a complementary therapy that stimulates correspondence points on the hands and feet. The high burden of non-communicable diseases and musculoskeletal complaints, together with limited public knowledge about the safe use of complementary therapies, formed the basis for this community service activity, which aimed to provide health education and Sujok therapy services to the public in Cimahi City, Indonesia. The activity was held with Yayasan Jaya Kulsum Indonesia on May 22, 2026, and was attended by 31 adults recruited through neighborhood (RT/RW) announcements (mean age 54.0 years; 96.8% women). It comprised an initial health assessment, health education with demonstrations, individual Sujok therapy using Basic Sujok and Sujok Triorigin techniques, and health counseling. Therapy was delivered by health professionals as the supervised field practice of a Sujok therapy workshop. Outcomes were assessed descriptively through individual interviews before and immediately after therapy. The most common main complaints were knee, leg, or foot pain and tingling or numbness. All planned activities were completed. The mean self-rated severity of the main complaint (0–10) decreased from 5.0 ± 1.7 to 1.3 ± 1.6, and all participants reported a lower score after the session. However, as a single-session descriptive activity without a comparison group, independent assessment, or follow-up, these immediate self-reported changes do not establish the effectiveness of Sujok therapy. The activity shows the feasibility of combining community health education with supervised complementary care, while highlighting the need for systematic evaluation, safety monitoring, and continued medical management.
