This study examines whether innovative work behavior (IWB) statistically mediates the association between knowledge sharing and self-reported lecturer performance at private higher education institutions in West Java. PLS-SEM analyzed cross-sectional data from 155 lecturers. Knowledge sharing was associated with IWB (β = 0.537; p < 0.001) and performance (β = 0.304; p = 0.001); IWB was associated with performance (β = 0.498; p < 0.001). The specific indirect effect was significant (β = 0.268; p = 0.001), indicating complementary partial mediation. The model explained 28.9% of IWB variance and 50.3% of performance variance. Institutions should support knowledge sharing and innovation. All constructs were self-reported in one cross-sectional survey. These statistical associations do not establish that institutional interventions cause better performance.
