Abstract

Management Information Systems is a field of study that is currently growing rapidly in line with the development of the business world and advances in information technology as a support for business activities. The increasing complexity of systems and their roles in various fields of life requires the study of Management Information Systems through a sociotechnical approach. Until now, discussions and debates about information systems still often revolve around general assumptions that lead to the understanding that information systems are solely related to technical approaches. A multiperspective view of information systems shows that they are a multidisciplinary field of study. This strengthens the position of Management Information Systems, supported by information technology, in shaping enterprise systems and playing a role in enhancing the value chain of a company or organization. This research employs a literature study method to analyze the characteristics, components, and structure of management information in educational institutions. The findings indicate that by utilizing management information systems, educational institutions can improve transparency, accountability, and the quality of education.

Abstract

This research examines the security parameters of Bimasoft CBT, a prominent computer-based testing platform utilized extensively in Indonesia, particularly during the execution of UNBK and amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Although CBT systems present distinct advantages in terms of efficiency relative to traditional paper-based assessments, they concurrently introduce significant security concerns. This issue is particularly pertinent considering research indicating that students exhibiting high self-efficacy tend to be more inclined towards dishonest practices, potentially capitalizing on system vulnerabilities. The investigation concentrates on the “offline self-simulation” iteration of Bimasoft CBT, which permits autonomous hosting capabilities. The assessment methodology incorporated strategic planning, a technical examination of the system, identification of vulnerabilities utilizing tools such as Chrome DevTools and Burp Suite, and risk evaluation employing the CVSS 4.0 framework. The inquiry revealed two medium-risk vulnerabilities (CVSS score: 6.9) that jeopardize confidentiality, permitting students to access examination questions prior to login and secure tokens without the oversight of a supervisor. To address these concerns, three principal solutions are recommended: the implementation of back-end token validation, the restriction of access to examination questions via the WordPress REST API prior to login, and the avoidance of CSS for concealing critical content. These findings underscore the necessity of fortifying security within CBT systems to ensure equitable assessment, uphold academic integrity, and assist developers and policymakers in the advancement of digital examination platforms.

Abstract

Procurement processes in healthcare institutions often face challenges such as delays, lack of documentation, and limited transparency in vendor selection. These issues can negatively impact the operational efficiency and availability of medical logistics. This study aims to develop a web-based procurement information system that addresses these problems through a structured digital approach. The research was conducted using a case study at Sekata Medical Center Clinic in Samarinda. The system was developed using the Waterfall model, which includes five stages: requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The development was carried out using PHP as the programming language and MySQL as the database, supporting multiple user roles including admin, department, division, and vendor. The system implementation includes key features such as item request submission, vendor selection, invoice processing, and goods verification. Testing using the Black Box method confirmed that all functionalities performed correctly according to the defined specifications, with accurate error handling and validation processes. The results demonstrate that the system enhances the procurement process by providing structured workflows, real-time documentation, and transparency across all stages. In conclusion, this research contributes to improving procurement efficiency, data accuracy, and accountability in medical service providers. It also lays the groundwork for future development, such as integration with real-time reporting, enhanced data security, and broader deployment in other healthcare institutions.

Abstract

Batununggal Village faces persistent challenges in administrative services, including manual processes that cause delays, inefficiencies, and limited access to information. This study develops a web-based village information system designed to optimize these services through the Prototype method. The system integrates React.js for the frontend, Laravel for the backend, and MySQL for the database, forming a scalable and user-friendly architecture. Unlike previous studies that focused only on basic services, the proposed system introduces a more comprehensive model by combining online letter submission, resident data management, UMKM promotion, transparent APBDes reporting, and citizen complaint channels.The Prototype method was applied iteratively, allowing continuous refinement based on feedback from both residents and village staff. System testing employed black-box evaluation, confirming that all features functioned as expected. Furthermore, user satisfaction was measured through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 31 residents, resulting in an overall score of 81.55%, categorized as “Agree.” Similarly, evaluations from 10 village staff indicated that 70–80% found the system very helpful in supporting their tasks. These findings demonstrate that the system improves service efficiency, increases transparency, and enhances community participation in governance. In addition to addressing long-standing service issues in Batununggal Village, the system provides a replicable model for other rural communities. Future development will prioritize the integration of automated notifications and a mobile application to broaden accessibility and ensure long-term adoption.

Abstract

Freshwater aquaculture in Dharmasraya Regency plays a vital role in local food security and economic development, yet data management practices remain limited to static tabular records. This lack of spatial representation hampers effective planning, monitoring, and decision-making by the Fisheries and Food Agency. To address this issue, the present study develops a web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) tailored for freshwater aquaculture that integrates spatial visualization with comprehensive attribute data, including fish species, cultivation methods, pond size, and production outputs. The novelty of this research lies in three aspects: the integration of attribute and geospatial data into a unified platform, district-level filtering and route mapping to aquaculture sites, and the use of open-source technologies such as Leaflet.js and Chart.js to ensure interactivity, accessibility, and scalability. The system was developed using the Waterfall model, covering requirement analysis, design, implementation, and black-box testing for validation. Results show that the GIS successfully displays aquaculture distribution maps, interactive production graphs, and user-friendly data management features that align with stakeholder needs. Compared to previous GIS applications, which often emphasize coastal aquaculture or rely on satellite imagery, this system directly supports inland aquaculture management at the district level. Beyond technical contributions, the platform delivers practical benefits by enabling local authorities to monitor aquaculture spatially, improving transparency for the public, and supporting sustainable fisheries development. This study thus demonstrates how a district-level WebGIS can bridge the gap between static data and actionable decision support in aquaculture management.

Abstract

The adoption of hospital management information systems (SIMRS) has become a strategic necessity to improve service efficiency and data accuracy. Yet, user acceptance does not always align with the classical Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), especially in complex environments with diverse technological experiences. This study aims to extend TAM by introducing experience and complexity as contextual variables to assess the acceptance of the SIMRS Transmedic system at Bandung Adventist Hospital. A quantitative explanatory design was applied, and data from active SIMRS users were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings reveal that perceived ease of use significantly influences perceived usefulness, while attitude toward use shapes behavioral intention, and both behavioral intention and perceived usefulness drive actual system use. In contrast, experience and complexity show no significant effects on perceived usefulness or ease of use. The novelty of this study lies in demonstrating that psychological factors and direct interaction with the system outweigh traditional TAM determinants in hospital settings. This challenges prevailing assumptions in prior studies that emphasize usefulness as the primary predictor of adoption. The results highlight the importance of strengthening user attitudes and experience through socialization, targeted training, and improved interface design. By providing empirical evidence on an extended TAM in healthcare, this study contributes theoretically to refining acceptance models and offers practical guidance for enhancing the effectiveness of SIMRS implementation.

Abstract

Computer systems are essential to modern business operations but often encounter issues such as slow performance, system crashes, and virus infections due to inadequate maintenance practices. Although computer repair service companies are available to address these problems, they frequently experience inefficiencies caused by limited information about hardware or software damage, poor communication between technicians, and ineffective service reporting systems. These issues reduce the overall quality of service and customer satisfaction. To overcome these challenges, this study developed a web-based service management system designed to streamline repair workflows, enhance coordination among technicians, and improve communication with customers. The system integrates a diagnostic module that applies a simplified Backward Chaining reasoning method, enabling users to identify the causes of computer faults by testing possible hypotheses based on observed symptoms similar to the reasoning process of an expert technician. The system was evaluated using the Blackbox testing method, focusing on input accuracy, feature functionality, and overall system performance. The testing results showed that all system features operated correctly (100%), and the diagnostic module effectively simulated expert reasoning in identifying computer faults. User feedback also indicated noticeable improvements in operational efficiency, technician collaboration, and customer satisfaction. Overall, the proposed system demonstrates its potential as a reliable tool for optimizing computer repair business processes, improving diagnostic accuracy, and enhancing communication and service delivery

Abstract

The Academic Information System serves as a core platform for managing academic activities, yet despite it being a core platform there are still many institutions face the same issues related to poor user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, which affect the operational efficiency and user satisfaction. While many studies have explored usability improvement in academic systems, few have focused on iterative prototyping combined with user-centered design methodologies in fully deployed university platforms. The goal of this study is to address these issues by redesigning the CIS interface through an iterative, prototype-based using Design Thinking and User-Centered Design (UCD) methodologies. It’s focus on improving system clarity, navigation, and user engagement. Online questionnaires and interviews with 50 students were used to gather data for the primary evaluation, which was based on the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The UEQ was used both before and after the redesign to measure six experiential dimensions: Attractiveness, Perspicuity, Efficiency, Dependability, Stimulation, and Novelty. And the results show significant improvements across all categories with rated excellent, indicating it’s successfully enhanced usability, visual appeal, and workflow clarity. These improvements has made an increased to the user satisfaction during academic task completion. Practically, the redesigned CIS enables students to access critical academic information more efficiently, improving daily academic productivity and digital interaction quality. This study highlights the effectiveness of using iterative, and user-centered methodologies in transforming outdated academic systems into intuitive, human-centered platforms that promote both institutional efficiency and user well-being.

Abstract

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) often face inefficiencies due to manual business processes that result in data redundancy, high error rates, and delayed service delivery. Queen Flower Shop in North Lampung exemplifies these challenges, as it continues to record transactions and inventory manually, reducing productivity and decision-making accuracy. This study addresses this problem by developing a web-based information system designed to digitalize florist operations and enhance overall business performance. The system was developed using the Waterfall model, comprising five sequential stages—requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Implemented through the CodeIgniter 4 framework based on the Model–View–Controller (MVC) architecture and supported by a MySQL database, the system integrates modules for user authentication, product management, online ordering, and automated reporting. Black-box testing validated that all features operated as expected, achieving a 100% success rate. Quantitatively, system implementation reduced average transaction processing time by approximately 45% and eliminated recurring data duplication errors. These outcomes demonstrate that the developed system significantly improves operational efficiency, data accuracy, and user satisfaction while ensuring modularity and scalability for future enhancements. The study contributes a practical and replicable model for SME digitalization, particularly in the creative and retail sectors, promoting transparency, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability in the digital economy.

Abstract

The use of internet technology in business processes is increasingly encouraging organizations to adopt digital systems that can improve operational efficiency and support data-driven decision-making. However, PT. Jodo Global still calculates inventory records manually, which causes data inconsistencies, loss of information, reporting delays, and limited inventory records. This problem indicates a significant research gap, as the lack of an integrated inventory system has significantly impacted operational accuracy and the effectiveness of managerial decision-making. This study aims to address these issues by developing a web-based inventory information management system capable of providing real-time stock monitoring, structured transaction recording, and automated report generation. The system was developed using a structured methodology encompassing requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and validation through black-box testing. The testing phase focused on evaluating the system's core functions such as stock updates, transaction recording, user authentication, and report generation-based on predetermined performance indicators, including accuracy, system responsiveness, and minimal functional errors. The results showed measurable performance improvements after the system was implemented. Inventory update processing time decreased by approximately 60%, recording errors were reduced by 83%, and the reporting process became fully automated, supporting faster and more reliable managerial decision-making. Overall, the system provides a scientifically proven digital solution that improves operational efficiency, accuracy, and productivity at PT. Jodo Global.
