Abstract

Heart disease remains a critical global health issue requiring reliable early prediction for clinical decision-making. This study evaluates the effect of feature selection and feature weighting on the performance of machine learning models with different learning mechanisms, namely K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Naïve Bayes (NB), and Logistic Regression (LR), for heart disease prediction. An algorithm-sensitive comparative framework was applied using global feature relevance estimation (Mutual Information), local feature relevance estimation (ReliefF), feature selection, and feature weighting, with raw features as baseline. Experiments were conducted on the Cleveland Heart Disease dataset using stratified 5-fold cross-validation. The results show that ReliefF-based feature weighting achieves the best performance for Naïve Bayes (accuracy = 0.8085; F1-score = 0.7774), while Logistic Regression attains the highest overall performance under the baseline (accuracy = 0.8547; F1-score = 0.8324). Feature selection improves KNN performance due to reduced sensitivity to irrelevant features. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of feature importance strategies depends on model-specific learning behavior, where feature weighting benefits probabilistic models, while feature selection is more effective for distance-based models. This study contributes an algorithm-sensitive evaluation perspective for aligning feature importance strategies with machine learning model characteristics to improve heart disease prediction performance.

Abstract

The development of information technology is driving digitalization in various sectors, including the repair shop industry. Digitalization can improve efficiency, record-keeping accuracy, and service speed. However, many small to medium-sized repair shops still use manual systems, such as the Betawi Motor Service (BMS) workshop in Jatiasih, which records transactions, stock, and financial reports separately using Microsoft Excel. This method causes problems such as input errors, data duplication, difficulty monitoring stock in real time, and inaccurate financial reports. To overcome these obstacles, this study aims to design and build a website-based business information system using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method. The RAD method was chosen because it supports rapid and iterative development through the stages of requirements planning, design, development, and implementation. The system has three types of users: admin, manager, and employee, with different access rights. The results of Black Box Testing and User Acceptance Testing indicate that all features function well. This system can be accessed through https://bengkelbms.zya.me and helps digitize the BMS Workshop's operations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in managing natural disaster data in Indonesia through a qualitative approach based on literature studies. Indonesia as an archipelagic country located in the Pacific ring of fire region has a high risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and landslides. Fast, accurate, and integrated disaster data management is an urgent need in disaster mitigation and management efforts. GIS is considered to be able to present relevant spatial and temporal information to support decision-making by policymakers and emergency response agencies. This study examines various scientific literature, policy reports, and official documents from 2015 to 2024 to evaluate the contribution of GIS in the context of disaster management in Indonesia. The results of the study show that GIS is effective in mapping disaster-prone areas, supporting early warning systems, and improving coordination between agencies through map-based visual data. However, challenges are still found in terms of data integration between regions, limited human resource capacity, and lack of standardization of spatial data. Therefore, strengthening technical capacity and developing policies based on spatial data needs to be improved. This research is expected to make a theoretical and practical contribution to the development of a sustainable and adaptive geographic information system to disaster dynamics in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines how information literacy influences students’ disaster preparedness by incorporating risk perception as a mediating variable. Disaster-prone higher education environments require strong information comprehension skills to support readiness against potential hazards. The research involved 184 students from Merchant Marine Polytechnic of West Sumatra and STKIP Ahlussunnah, selected using purposive sampling. quantitative survey design approach was applied using SEM-PLS path analysis to evaluate direct and indirect effects. The results show that information literacy significantly influences disaster preparedness through an indirect effect mediated by risk perception (β = 0.205; p = 0.000). This finding highlights that risk perception strengthens the translation of information literacy into concrete preparedness actions. Practically, institutions should design information literacy programs that enhance not only access to technical data but als4o students’ awareness and appraisal of disaster risks. This study is limited by its focus on two campuses in a specific geographic area, suggesting the need for broader comparative studies. Overall, the research confirms that incorporating psychological components such as risk perception is essential for optimizing disaster preparedness strategies among university students.
