Abstract

As the global technology sector becomes increasingly integrated, Information Systems (IS) graduates must possess both technical mastery and the linguistic competence to navigate international professional environments. This research investigates the intersection of technical academic achievement and communicative performance by analyzing the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) usage and interview strategies of IS students. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive research design, the study stratified 24 undergraduate students from one of universities in Indonesia into three groups i.e., high, medium, and low achievers. Data were elicited through semi-structured mock job interviews and analyzed using the six-phase reflexive thematic analysis framework of Braun and Clarke (2013). The results reveal a significant pragmatic gap between achievement levels. High achievers demonstrated professional agency, characterized by the use of lexical anchors and proactive rhetorical strategies that linked academic projects to business outcomes. Conversely, lower achievers exhibited template dependency, relying on rigid scripts and generalist language that often masked their technical potential. Significant First Language (L1) interference and phonetic slips were observed across all levels, though high achievers displayed superior self-monitoring and mitigation skills. These findings suggest that high academic achievement provides the content for professional success, but it does not automatically confer the linguistic voice required for global employability. The study concludes with pedagogical recommendations for integrating industry-specific pragmatics into ESP curricula to ensure that all IS graduates are effectively prepared for the demands of the global technology workforce.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Optimal adjustment of window width (WW) and window level (WL) is essential for improving anatomical visualization on abdominal CT scans in patients with intra-abdominal masses. Objective: To analyze the effects of different WW and WL settings on abdominal CT images and determine the optimal values for evaluating intra-abdominal mass cases. Methods: This quantitative observational study analyzed abdominal CT scans from six patients with radiologist-confirmed intra-abdominal masses. Images were reconstructed using different WW and WL combinations, and three experienced observers independently assessed the resulting anatomical information to identify the most appropriate image settings. Results: Significant differences were observed in the anatomical information produced by the various WW and WL settings. The combination of WW 300 HU and WL 60 HU provided superior visualization of abdominal anatomical structures and lesion characteristics compared with the other settings evaluated. These parameters consistently yielded clearer image contrast and improved diagnostic interpretation across the observers. Conclusion: Variations in WW and WL significantly influence the diagnostic quality of abdominal CT images in patients with intra-abdominal masses. A setting of WW 300 HU and WL 60 HU is recommended as the optimal protocol for enhancing anatomical visualization and supporting accurate radiological assessment in routine clinical practice.

Abstract

This study examines digital governance gaps on the SIHALAL platform and investigates potential moral hazard and fraud risks in the self-declared halal certification scheme in Indonesia. This study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design , analyzing survey data from 107 MSMEs assisted by the Halal Center, partners of BPJPH, and qualitative data from in-depth interviews with internal stakeholders, senior information technology auditors, and halal experts. Quantitative analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and the Spearman correlation test, while qualitative data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results of the study indicate that information asymmetry and low digital literacy among facilitators indicated by the average MSME digital literacy score of 2.83 out of 5.00 and 55.1% of respondents who do not follow the development of advanced digitalization significantly increase system vulnerability, which triggers inaccurate verification processes and high risks of data manipulation, as confirmed by a strong Spearman correlation between low digital literacy and perceived fraud risk (? = 0.624; p < 0.001). The findings of this study indicate that the integration of Sharia-compliant digital governance principles, particularly through automated verification mechanisms such as geotagging , digital timestamps , and artificial intelligence (AI)-based image validation effectively mitigates internal fraud and ensures structural alignment with the values of Maqasid Sharia, especially in safeguarding religion ( hifz ad-din ) and public welfare ( hifz an-nafs ).
