Abstract

Artikel ini bermaksud meneliti dan membandingkan penggunaan katakata dalam Perjamuan Terakhir, yaitu mengucap syukur (to give thanks) dan memberkati (berakah) yang mempunyai akar Yahudi kuat. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan mengamati kisah-kisah yang berkaitan dengan Perjamuan Terakhir, baik yang terdapat dalam Kitab Suci maupun dalam dokumen-dokumen liturgi yang berasal dari berbagai sumber dan periode.

Abstract

Bagaimana membaca kitab suci- tidak menurut seleranya sendiri, acak-acakan, melainkan secara bertanggungjawab? Umpamanya, bukan hanya dalam kesunyian kamarku sendiri, melainkan bersama dalam kelompok kitab suci-tanpa menyesatkan satu sama lain! Jelaslah bahwa buku iman harus dibaca dengan semangat iman! Dan, kembalilah pertanyaan: bagaimanakan kelompok itu mengembangkan semangat iman,? Dengan cara manakah kita menggali inspirasi iman dari teks Kitab Suci? Kitab Suci pantas kita baca dengan keterlibatan hidup kita (seadanya kita!), dan membacanya sebagai sabda Allah dalam bahasa manusia (seadanya teks). Apakah ada yang dapat memberi inspirasi?

Abstract

Younger generation holds a very important role in the development of science. Indeed, the fast-growing science has positive and negative effects on them. And, many young people lean on the mainstream view, embracing a hedonistic, pragmatic, and consumptive lifestyle. On the other hand, as a reaction, not few of them have involved in a new spiritual movement that tries to demonstrate that human existence is more than the fulfillment of physical needs, and that religion has important contribution in meeting spiritual needs. The question here is what are the roles of religion and science in transforming youth morality as integrated person, especially when some believe that religion is incompatible with science, and some other even blame the fast-growing science as the main cause of moral crisis among the youths.

Abstract

"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." Though not found in his works, the phrase has often been attributed to Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Who is Bonhoeffer and why is that phrase so attached to him? Using a historical critical method and text analysis, this article is to present Bonhoeffer's story of discipleship and his theological reflection in his struggle against the Nazi during the Second World War. For Bonhoeffer, Hitler is anti-Christ. Therefore, for him, faith means a struggle and theology must be politically characterized. In Christ, God being human, Christians live their faith concretely in the reality of the world.

Abstract

This article is presented based on immersion experience during workshop on inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue run by Jesuit School of Theology of Berkeley and Sanata Dharma University of Yogyakarta on January 8th-22nd, 2006 in Yogyakarta. Encountering people from different cultural and religious background purifies our understanding about "other people". We learned that an immersion program is highly helpful to start an inter-religious and intercultural dialogue. An immersion has freed us from our unhealty suspicions and helped us to understand deeply people from other religion. At least, the immersion gave us an opportunity to cultivate our faith and come to positive attitudes towards people from different faith and culture. Accordingly, the purpose of dialogue is not merely for creating a harmonious situation but further to give us an opportunity to advance cooperation among people of different religious experiences.

Salah satu reaksi terhadap globalisasi adalah menguatnya identitas-identitaslokal yang beranak pinak menjadi gerakan separatisme, fanatisme agama, dangerakan primordialisme. Konflik-konflik yang bermunculan di penghujung abad20 ditandai dengan konflik identitas dan kepentingan. Karena itu perhatiandan studi tentang identitas menjadi begitu penting untuk kepentingan prosesperdamaian. Sumbangan dari dunia akademis ini sangat dinantikan oleh parapeace maker mengingat makin massif dan banyaknya konflik antar negara,golongan, maupun agama yang terjadi. Dalam proses perdamaian di IrlandiaUtara terlihat bagaimana peran identitas itu begitu kental. Tulisan ini mencobamembedah problem perdamaian di Irlandia Utara itu dari kacamata identitytheory. Dengan pemahaman yang lebih baik atas masing-masing kubu yangbertikai, tulisan ini memberikan rekomendasi bahwa proses perdamaian yangselama ini telah ditempuh perlu dirombak ulang. Abstract

In this article I explore the notion of "domestic church" as identity for the christian families. One important character of christian family is found here, i. e. counter-culture as way of being in the society. In our present society which is marked by consumerism, how could christian families unfold and develop their identity as "domestic church"? This article tries to answer this question by proposing some practices that can be considered as alternative culture.

Abstract

Historical-critical method had a particular place in the renewal of theologyat the dawn of the Second Vatican Council. This method brings theology intoa direct contact with the sources investigated. Such a step enables theology torediscover the richness of the life of the Church, altogether with its developmentand limitations. Gustave Thils, a Belgian theologian, who participated in thediscussions during the Council on the topic of ecumenism, the Episcopal serviceand Roman Pontiff, as well as the discussion of the Scheme XIII, made use thismethod in his theological adventure. This approach provides a firm basis fora theological hermeneutic. Historical-critical method enables theology to beliberated from fundamentalism and liberalism tendencies. A development ofunderstanding which is slow but sure is well supported by this method.
