<![CDATA[This study aims to discuss Muhammad Izzat Darwazah’s perspective about the sword verses and the issues of its abrogation towards the peaceful verses (ayat al-silm) on al-Tafsīr al-h}adīth Tartīb al-Suwar h}asb al-Nuzūl. This paper focuses on the problem; how is Darwazah’s perspective on the theory of abrogation, that the peaceful verses have been abrogated by the sword verses? Furthermore, how is Darwazah’s perspective on the sword verses and its relation to the peaceful verses from a sociolinguistic perspective? Using a literary research method and a sociolinguistic approach, this article concludes that, according to Darwazah, there is no abrogation of peaceful verses by the sword verses. To prove his point, Darwazah presents the facts and conditions when the sword verses were revealed. This research also concludes that, through sociolinguistic analysis, wars/jihād never occurred during the prophet’s time except for self-defense. Furthermore, Darwazah argues that the sword verses, which are often used by Muslim extremists to legitimize their actions, have a different context from today, when inter-religious communities live peacefully.]]>

<![CDATA[The Potential of Integration between Biology Learning and Quran-Hadith LearningBecause the secular Western perspective is influential until now, the dichotomization of religion and science is very strong. Religion and science are often seen as conflicting, have a different realm of explanation, and cannot be reconciled. This view also has an impact on science learning and Islamic religious education in madrasas or religious schools. If the appreciation of the syar'iyyah verses can be synergized with knowledge of the kauniyyah verses, the benefits will be more significant and make the learning process more meaningful. This study explores the potential for integration or the common ground between discussions in Biological science with studies of the Qur’an and Hadith. The novelty of this study is to provide a deeper portion highlighting the traditions of the Prophet. This study also explores the content of Qur’anic verses or hadiths relatively rarely raised in previous studies. It shows the breadth of the potential for religion-science integration both from the Qur’anic verses and the Prophet Muhammad's traditions with the theme of faith, jurisprudence, and morals. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with library research techniques. The results of this study indicate that learning biology with learning the Qur’an and Hadith can be integrated. The integration model can be classified into two, namely: (1) strengthening the study of Qur’anic verses and the Prophet's traditions, and (2) enriching the teaching of a Biology material by studying the Qur’anic verses or relevant traditions]]>

<![CDATA[This article discusses an interpretation of the Qur’an by Abdullah Said using the contextual interpretation model. However, this paper will focus on how Abdullah Saeed developed the concept hierarchy of values inspired by Fazlur Rahman's thought, how application and implication of this concept in Qur’anic interpretation. Abdullah Saeed developed and formulated the concept hierarchy of values into five levels, including obligatory values, fundamental values, protective values, implementational values, and instructional values. The five hierarchies of values become a complete unified frame as an effort to the contextual interpretation of the Qur’an, especially the ethico-legal verses that mostly fill the daily life of most Muslims based on the understanding of maqashid al-sharia and the concept of good deeds. This study uses a descriptive analysis method and hermeneutic analysis techniques to apply the concept hierarchy of values in the Qur’anic interpretation. The results of this paper are in the contextual interpretation of QS. Al-Hujurat in the 1st-5th verses are instructional value; the 6th and 9th verses are combination of fundamental, protectional and impementational values; the 7th-8th verses and the 14th-18th verses are obligatory value; the 10th verse implementational value; the 11th-13th verses are instructional value. <![CDATA[Hadiths about Gharar in Buying and Selling and the Forms in the Contemporary PeriodThis article examines various hadith (traditions) which talk about the issue of gharar sale (uncertain sale). The research finds out that there are dozens of hadiths which are then reduced to 5 hadiths considered to be representative and focus of the discussion, both in terms of the matn and sanad. This research is thematic, namely the hadiths related to gharar law with sanad and matn criticism approach to get a clear picture of the authenticity of the hadiths understudied. To get a comprehensive understanding of the issue of gharar sale, this paper also develops the research on the form of gharar sale in the contemporary era with a fiqh perspective which is also supported by the arguments found in the Quran. The research finds out that the hadiths which talk about the issue of gharar are categorized as sahih (authentic) with various criteria and therefore can be used as evidence (hujjah) in the making of legal decisions based on Islamic law (istinbath).]]>

<![CDATA[It’s already been widespread in society concerning the attention of parental rights and their warning against the iniquity to parents, since eventhough there has been commands and encouragement in the Qur’an and the Sunnah, yet they ignore the child rights and protection for him, as if the Qur’an and the Sunnah do not say anything about it. I choose this topic in order to explain about the concern of Qur’an and Sunnah for the child rights. By Using analytic descriptive approach, this study describes child protection as found in the Qur’an and the Sunnah by means of searching and collecting the Qur’anic verses and Hadist along with the explanation from the commentary books and hadist. <![CDATA[Bint al-Shaṭi' is one of the few modern Muslim female figures who developed Islamic scholarship, especially interpretation of the Al-Qur'an. Issa J Boullata praised the Bint al-Shaṭi’ method as a modern interpretation method that has many advantages. The first objective is to identify the background and principles of the Bint al-Shati' method of interpretation. The second objective, to find the peculiarities and advantages of the method compared to others. The third objective is to find important things as a logical consequence of the method of interpretation. This study uses content analysis and comparison method. The author calls the Bint al-Shati' method the term critical thematic method, developed based on the weaknesses of the classical interpretation method. This method has its uniqueness even though it was adopted from the method of interpretation of Amin al-Khuli. The Bint al-Shati’ method, compared to several other methods, appears to be more complete and relatively more guarantees that the Qur'an is able to speak for itself. In the end, the principle of no synonym in the Bint al-Shati' method can strengthen the dictum of Abu Abbas Tsa'lab, can provide certainty about the stages of a legal process, and can strengthen certain theological understandings]]>

<![CDATA[Contextualization of Hadith about Jihad and Its Relevance in the Middle East ConflictThis article’s aimed to study and trace the traditions related to jihad in the phenomenon of conflict in the Middle East. This shows that basically the understanding of the hadith is something important to know how the context of the hadith on the phenomena that occur. This is because, if we look at the events of the conflict that took place in the Middle East, that the combatants and terrorists involved in the conflict in the region are based on the concept of jihad. This situation indicates a perspective on the relationship between understanding jihad and the occurrence of conflict. They think that what they have actually done is jihad. Meanwhile, it is wrong and has tarnished the understanding on the basis of the jihad. Therefore, this study discusses the contextualization of the hadith on the concept of jihad and its relevance in the conflicts that occurred in the Middle East. This research uses descriptive analysis method on the hadiths about jihad. Through this research, it was found that the conceptions of jihad in the hadiths were misunderstood by combatants and terrorists, basically what they interpreted as jihadist traditions.]]>
