Abstract

The Indonesian state has a diversity of ethnic groups, cultures, customs, languages, geographical locations, different natural conditions that give birth to humans who live side by side and are able to adapt to natural conditions in supporting survival. This diversity is a social potential that is an important part of the formation of cultural image and identity Traditional cultivation is a system that has been passed down from generation to generation so that it becomes the local knowledge of farmers. This local knowledge system provides an overview of the wisdom of community traditions in utilizing natural and social resources wisely which refers to environmental balance and sustainability. Nutmeg farming on Siau Island is a very good and profitable nutmeg farming for nutmeg farmers because of the fertile soil with the Karangetang Volcano. The people of Siau Island have a culture, traditions, and customs that still prevail today, namely Mengongko. Mengongko tradition is the activity of picking up nutmeg that has fallen to the ground. If nutmeg seeds that have fallen on the ground belong entirely to everyone if they find them, except taking nutmeg on the tree directly, it is prohibited by the customs on Siau Island. The local wisdom of nutmeg farmers in Bumbiha Village is still very thick before harvest: cleaning (menibase), controlling (mengenang) and informing (menguli); harvest period: climbing (mengawi), helping to split (mesumbala memeka), drying (mematih), and selling (mebalu). Keywords: local wisdom, nutmeg farmer, mengongko

Abstract

Humans are social creatures who interact with others in meeting various needs of life. Therefore, humans are inseparable from interacting using language as a means of communication. Language is a social communication tool in the form of a system of sound symbols produced from human speech. Language is an important element in influencing human life and culture. One of the languages that must be maintained and protected is the regional language. Regional languages are languages that are one of the criteria for identifying an ethnic group or ethnic group. Regional languages as a means of communication in the community must certainly be maintained and preserved in the community, so that the criteria for identification in tribes and regions are not lost. Teenagers in Tanah Putih Village mostly speak less and less Tonsea. However, most of the teenagers who interact use Manadonese Malay in their daily lives, but other teenagers also use Tonsea to interact with their own parents. The role of parents in teaching Tonsea language is very beneficial for teenagers today because parental education greatly influences children to use their respective regional languages. The role of parents to use the Tonsea language in interacting is applied in everyday life. With that, the Tonsea language is still always used in everyday life. Abstract

Herbal plants are plants that have been identified and known based on human observations to have compounds that are beneficial for preventing, curing diseases, performing certain biological functions. Understanding traditional medicinal plants is also often called a living pharmacy, which is the use of part of the land so that it can be planted with medicinal plants that are used for daily purposes. As we know, the drug itself is classified into two types, the first chemical drug, the next traditional herbal medicine. Chemical drugs are drugs from the results of chemicals, the material is obtained from synthetics on a large scale and can be used by the public after research from experts first. While herbal medicine is a medicine from the results of plant extracts based on what the community has experienced about the use of these plants has succeeded in reducing or curing diseases that have currently been done research by experts on what substances are contained in it and the efficacy of these substances. Since a long time ago, parents in Guaan Village often use traditional medicines whose ingredients are deliberately planted in the garden and around the house, one of which is ginger (Zingiber officinale) to cure coughs, some even grow wild, which people usually call laka flowers (Impetiens balsamina L) for wound healing. However, currently only certain people, especially the elderly, are still preserving the tradition, so it is feared that the existence of traditional medicine and its use will gradually become extinct. Abstract

Knowing the wealth of traditions in the Lake Toba area cannot be separated from the intangible heritage that has been authorized by the Ministry of Culture and Education. In the Batak Karo tradition, there are three intangible cultural heritages, for example (1) Guro-guro Aron, (2) Merdang Merdem, (3) Erpangir Ku Lau. In addition to Batak land, now Guro-guro Aron Drum has also been displayed in several regions in Indonesia, including in Cikopo, Yogyakarta, Manado, and others. This shows that the Batak Karo community is also very closely related to the world of art such as dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments. Music is one of the complementary instruments when the Batak Karo people perform the Guro-guro Aron Drum dance. This art still exists in Manado, and of course has adapted continuously in accordance with the interests of the dynamic Batak Karo community in keeping up with the times. That is, these changes and shifts in art occur in line with changes in Karo society in various aspects of life, let alone They are overseas. The performance of Guro-guro Aron Drum in Manado is not only the Batak Karo family who watches but all Batak in Manado and even Minahasa people also watch like the Batak Karo family who married Minahasa people. It is very likely that this Guro-guro Aron Drum performance, in addition to strengthening family ties, can also resolve disputes that occur in the Batak Karo family. Abstract

Parenting is a process of interaction that occurs between parents and children. The interaction that occurs will encourage parents to want the best for their children and from this desire will then form a parenting style that will be instilled and passed on by parents to their children. However, this interaction process will have a major influence on the development of the child's personality and also affect the child's mental condition until he is an adult, because this interaction process occurs from the time they are born into the world and will provide experience in personality formation when they become adults later. But not all children do negative behavior, there are also children who do positive behavior such as many children who are diligent in worship, obey parents, and have good manners and go to school to a higher level. The phenomenon of parenting like this will be a sign of caution for parents in nurturing and educating children in the mental formation of their children. The parenting style of parents in Silian Satu Village, Silian Raya District, Minahasa Tenggara Regency on children's mental formation at the age of ten years to adulthood has a significant impact such as can affect children's self-confidence levels because children who receive positive support from their parents tend to have higher self-confidence, while children who experience negative treatment or lack of support can have higher self-confidence. low. Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has different geographical locations, for example differences in the height and low of a community's residence. The existence of different natural factors that are owned can affect different climates and weather which also result in different livelihoods in Indonesian people, such as farmers, fishermen, other plantation fields such as coffee, tea, tobacco, clove, plantations. Indonesian people who live in mountainous areas make a living in plantations, lowland areas pursue agriculture and those in coastal areas as fishermen. Farmers in Guaan Village are divided into two categories, namely as cultivators, namely farmers who work on other people's land and work in their own gardens, namely farmers who cultivate their own land. But Most farmers become cultivators in people's gardens. They plant leeks (Allium fistulosum L.) because in addition to the large enough yield, this plant also has a fast growth period so that farmers get money faster from this plant. Most farmers in Guaan Village choose to become Leek Farmers (Allium fistulosum L.) because the yield and profit are quite large and can meet their daily needs. Farmers are one of the sources of income and economy for humans, having fertile land and crops can make a person achieve daily needs and can also pay for the schooling of farmer children to college.
