Abstract

Generally, the supply of heat energy is abundant in this world especially from direct solar radiation or combustion process activity. However, this energy is mostly wasted and discharged to the environment without recovery and re-utilization process. There is a potential utilization this heat to be converted to electricity using thermoelectric generator (TEGs). This technology device has an ability to convert heat to electricity by difference temperature from both surfaces. This device could prevent thermal loss to environment and optimize the system to generate electricity for small and micro scale power generation. This research conducts a literature review about identifying several potential object application or equipment as heat sources from solar energy or combustion activity combine with thermoelectric generator at low grade temperature that has been worked by previous researcher for past 5 years. Current status and working principal of thermoelectric generator is presented briefly. Several parameters such as working temperature range, potential output power, and efficiency system are described and presented. Then, some implementation challenge and opportunity development combination TEGs with each object applications are discussed and analyzed to produce recommendation for further research

Abstract

Part of the coffee plant as a whole from the roots until the fruit can produce dye pigment, the coffee plant that is made sample is Robusta coffee plant (Coffee Robusta). The absence of natural color calcification uses one whole plant. So it is made from coffee plants typical of Lampung as a local identity. The mordanting process of the extract results in the parts of the coffee plant on the French cotton fabric, producing pigments that can be used as dyes for textiles. This method is easy to classify the pigment from the parts of the coffee plant. Classifications of colors obtained from warm, soft, and cold color ranges (casual, beautiful, Natural, beautiful, romantic, elegant, classic, clear and cool casual). This research was conducted to classify various colors of Robusta coffee plants, roots, wood, bark, ranting, wet leaves, dried leaves, wet skin, wet bark, dry hard skin, wet seeds, dried seeds, and grain powders with The mordanting process is transferred on the cloth. From the results of the experiment, excellent color absorption resulted from wet fruit skin with a tendency towards warm colors and applied to the mask as an example of the product by means of a brush so that not much wasted color content. way in brushes and applications on this mask is an effort to respond to environmental issues and new normal.

Abstract

This research designed a hand infusion splint for school-age children with an age range of 7-12 years according to the anthropometry and contours of the child's hand so that children who underwent infusion on the hand did not experience medical complications during treatment or post-hospital trauma. The method used in the design of infusion splint for school-age children is Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and House of Quality (HOQ) to get design criteria according to consumer needs, while the software used, namely SPSS and Autodesk Professional Inventor to build models. The size of the infusion splint was determined based on the hand anthropometry of school-age children. The specifications of the hand infusion splint of school-age children according to the needs of pediatric patients have a length of 189 mm, a thickness of 9 mm, and a width of 46.3 mm for arm supports, and 37.1 mm for hand supports obtained from the highest priority value in the House of Quality, namely the design of the dimensions of the splint.

Abstract

The global warming issue has become a concern for environmentalists activists, including many governments. This concern is due to the increasing attention to reducing the use of fossil energy because fossil energy has significantly exacerbated global warming. To minimize the use of fossil energy, especially the housing sector that is one of the extensive energy users. Building performance's analysis is done by creating changes to the case study's building envelope material. Case study buildings were simulated in energy analysis software. Preliminary analysis shows how the performance of the case study building is still far from the standard of thermal comfort. Air conditioning (AC) usage in the room will give comfort in terms of temperature. But, even though with the AC, the humidity level of the room was still high. Two building models are then created in the software to see the performance of the building by making changes to the building envelope material. With the settings on air-conditioning (AC) and environmental conditions in both models, the results indicate differences in the building performance of the two buildings. The results show that the building with insulation are using less energy and can provide optimal comfort for building users. Comfort is not only in terms of the building's temperature but including building relative humidity. In buildings with insulation, the temperature and humidity of the building are relatively stable throughout the year.

Abstract

Formasi Ofu berumur Neogen-Kuarter tersingkap baik di bagian tengah Pulau Timor. Kumpulan nannofosil gampingan Formasi Ofu berumur Neogen terdiri tujuh famili dan 25 spesies. Nannofosil gampingan berumur Neogen didominasi genus Discoaster, Dictyococcites, dan Reticulofenestra sedangkan umur Kuarter didominasi oleh genus Gephyrocapsa. Nannofosil gampingan Neogen terdiri dari dua zonasi, dan satu zona Kuarter. Permulaan Miosen, Burdigalian-Tortonian (zona NN 4-NN 10) ditandai pemunculan awal Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilica hingga pemunculan awal Discoaster quinqueramus. Zona NN11 yang berumur Tortonian-Messinian ditandai pemunculan awal hingga pemunculan akhir Discoaster quinqueramus. Kuarter (Zona NN20) ditandai pemunculan awal Ponthospaera indooceanica.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan perancangan dan pembuatan sistem instrumentasi dan akuisisi data uji kandungan zat yang terlarut dengan menggunakan prinsip konduktivitas berbasis LabVIEW dan mikrokontroler. Sistem instrumentasi ini mampu mengakuisisi data dengan mengkombinasikan LabVIEW sebagai program akuisisi data pengukuran sedangkan mikrokontroler beserta sensor koduktivitas berperan sebagai tranduser untuk mengubah besaran fisis menjadi sinyal listrik berupa tegangan. Hasil data analog zat yang terlarut akan dikirim oleh mikrokontroler ke LabVIEW melalui komunikasi serial dengan USB port yang dihubungkan ke komputer yang telah terinstall aplikasi LabVIEW dengan tambahan konfigurasi VISA untuk port serial, kemudian data diolah dan ditampilkan pada front panel pada LabVIEW dengan tujuan sebagai proses monitoring dan pengukuran kualitas air pada industri yang dapat diatur sesuai tampilan yang diinginkan pengguna (User Friendly) dibandingkan Penggunaan LCD bersifat terbatas pada fitur tampilan (Front Panel) dan Proses Pengolahan data pada blok diagram. Sistem instrumentasi yang telah dibuat memiliki nilai koefisien determinasi ( R2 ) adalah 0,955 yang menunjukan bahwa hasil pengukuran dari sistem instrumentasi mampu mendapatkan hasil pengukuran yang baik. Hasil penelitian kandungan zat yang dilarutkan dalam air yang disebut nilai Total Dissolve Solid (TDS) masih perlu pengembangan sistem dari segi kuantitas jumlah sensor untuk mengukur lebih banyak banyak lagi indikator yang mempengaruhi kualitas air bersih.

Abstract

Pembangunan Jalan Tol Trans Sumatera (JTTS) telah tercantum dalam Masterplan Percepatan dan Perluasan Ekonomi Indonesia (MP3EI) yang telah diundangkan dalam Peraturan Presiden Nomor 48 Tahun 2014 Tentang Perubahan Atas Peraturan Presiden Nomor 32 Tahun 2011 Tentang Masterplan Percepatan dan Perluasan Ekonomi Indonesia (MP3EI) 2011-2025. Pembangunan JTTS juga telah menjadi bagian dari Asian Highway Network. Dengan adanya JTTS, konektivitas antar wilayah tentunya akan semakin mudah dan perpindahan barang akan lebih cepat serta berdampak terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi suatu wilayah. Perpindahan barang yang dimaksud dalam penelitian ini adalah komoditas unggulan di setiap wilayah Provinsi Lampung-Sumatera Selatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji dampak ekonomi JTTS Bakauheni-Kayu Agung dalam pengembangan wilayah Lampung-Sumatera Selatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah adanya pembangunan JTTS perpindahan komoditas lebih cepat karena efisiensi waktu, namun terdapat perpindahan yang apabila menggunakan JTTS tidak memberikan efisiensi waktu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengombinasikan pendekatan Analisis Keputusan Multi Kriteria dan Sistem Geografis Informasi dalam menentukan rute yang paling optimum sebagai jalur darurat dan evakuasi pada saat terjadi kebakaran hutan. Kawasan hutan di Taman Nasional Gunung Merbabu yang rawan terhadap kebakaran dipilih sebagai wilayah studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 4 tahapan yaitu analisis multi kriteria (tutupan lahan, kelerengan, dan jarak dari jalur), analsis daerah rawan kebakaran hutan, analisis rute alternatif menggunakan Least-Cost Path, evaluasi multi kriteria, dan analisis keputusan multi kriteria untuk menentukan rute optimum sebagai jalur darurat dan evakuasi kebakaran hutan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa terdapat dua rute yang optimum untuk keadaan darurat (Rute Selo dan Alternatif 1) dan tiga rute dipilih sebagai rute evakuasi yang paling optimum (rute Cuntel, Wekas dan Alternatif 4).

Abstract

The loss of biodiversity in Indonesia is triggered by a decline in forest area. Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA) in collaboration with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) conducts the development of the ITERA Botanical Gardens having an important role as the ex-situ conservation of flora. Reforestation activities are carried out to support the vegetation development in the botanical garden. This activity have to concern in fertilizer needs and soil ameliorant, especially in soil characteristic of ITERA botanical garden. The aim of this research is to analyze combinations of manure and bamboo biochar having the abitily to increase optimal growth of Anthocephalus cadamba (Roxb.) Miq. in ITERA Botanical Garden. The experimental design used in this research was Completely Randomized Design. The addition of manure and bamboo biochar increased height, diameter, and number of leaves of A. cadamba. The addition of 3 kg manure and 100 g bamboo biochar (B3) was the best treatment to increased height, diameter, and number of leaves of A. cadamba during 12 weeks of observation.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini, pengaruh metode langsung dan tak langsung pada bahan baku ubi kayu terhadap kuantitas dan kualitas produk bioetanol telah dipelajari. Pengukuran terhadap volume produk, pH, dan Indeks bias dari produk juga telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik dari produk bioetanol. Dari 1000 gram ubi kayu, volume bioetanol yang dihasilkan dengan metode bahan baku langsung adalah 19 mL, sedangkan untuk metode tak langsung adalah 3 mL, kemudian untuk nilai pH, kedua metode menunjukkan hasil yang sama yaitu 6. Untuk nilai indeks bias pada produk bioetanol dengan metode langsung dan tak langsung adalah 1,3421 dan 1,337. Pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa preparasi ubi kayu dengan metode bahan baku langsung dalam produksi bioetanol lebih baik dibandingkan dengan metode tidak langsung dari segi jumlah bioetanol yang dihasilkan.
