Abstract

Using ethnomathematics method, this study attempts to create and assess the quality of learning materials about fractions, especially equivalent fractions, related to local culture. The five steps of ADDIE development modelanalysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation—are used in this study along with Research and Development (R&D) techniques. As a contextual method for learning equivalent fractions, fraction board media representing the shape of traditional Bugis cakes katirisala (rectangle), sikaporo (hexagon), and cucuru' bayao (circle) are created. With a percentage of 83.33% from material experts and 96.66% from media experts, the results of expert validation indicate that the developed media has a high level of validity and is included in the "very valid" category. Meanwhile, the results of the practicality test from the teacher and student surveys indicate that this media is useful, with a practical category of 79.76% from students and a very practical category of 100% from teachers. Regarding efficacy, the N-Gain value of 0.88 indicates that student learning outcomes have increased to the "high" category, indicating that this media has succeeded in helping students understand the concept of fractions. Based on the information obtained, it can be said that the fraction board teaching material made using ethnomathematics has met the requirements of validity, usability, and efficacy and is suitable for use in the elementary school mathematics curriculum.

Abstract

Students' academic performance can be measured through their mastery of the core competencies they acquire or learn in teaching and learning activities at their respective universities. This study uses the fuzzy c-means clustering method as a form of educational data mining. The fuzzy c-means clustering method is used because this method is able to group student data with criteria that can be used as a reference in implementing academic performance evaluations. The clustering results are evaluated using the silhouette coefficient value. The data processing process with the fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm shows three clusters with different centroid values. The first cluster with centroids (83.77, 79.48, 82.73) and consisting of 90 students is the cluster with the best academic performance evaluation results. Meanwhile, the third cluster with centroids (63.66, 64.82, 59.96) and consisting of 12 students is the most worrying academic performance evaluation result. These results serve as a reference for study program managers so that treatment of students with worrying academic performance can be made more strategic.

Abstract

Students' numeracy literacy and social interaction are important aspects of mathematics learning. Numeracy literacy in mathematics learning is influenced by the learning media used by students. Low social interaction will make students unenthusiastic about learning mathematics, which can result in low learning outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the need for mathematics learning media to improve students' numeracy literacy and social interaction. The research used was descriptive quantitative research. The subjects of the study were students of class VII A of SMP Negeri 2 Godean . The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The results showed that 82% of students' numeracy literacy was moderate to low. In addition, 90% of the use of books and conventional methods was the main factor in low numeracy literacy and social interaction of students. The need for mathematics learning media is important because 72% of students agree with the use of mathematics learning media. Therefore, the development of mathematics learning media is needed to improve students' numeracy literacy and social interaction skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the narrative structure, periodization, and methodological principles in A History of Mathematics by Carl B. Boyer and Uta C. Merzbach (third edition, 2011) as a historiographical model in mathematics education. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using the content analysis method. Data were collected through an in-depth reading of all chapters of the book and analyzed based on two main dimensions: internal history (the development of concepts and mathematical rigor) and external history (the social, cultural, and economic influences on the emergence of mathematical ideas). The findings reveal that Boyer and Merzbach construct the historical narrative of mathematics both chronologically and thematically, tracing its evolution from ancient to modern times while emphasizing the continuity of mathematical ideas across civilizations. Merzbach’s approach, which integrates linguistic, social, and economic contexts, demonstrates that the development of mathematics is the result of an interaction between abstract ideas and human practical needs. Furthermore, the principle of “extension without correction” indicates that each new mathematical theory does not negate earlier ones but rather expands and enriches the existing scientific framework. The study concludes that A History of Mathematics possesses significant pedagogical value and is highly relevant as a learning resource for the history of mathematics, as it cultivates a philosophical and historical understanding of mathematics as both a cultural product and an ongoing intellectual process

Abstract

Academic anxiety in mathematics often hinders student achievement. This study aims to analyze the relationship between students' perception of teaching material relevance and academic anxiety. Using a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 100 students from SMAN 1 Sentolo selected via simple random sampling. Data were collected using the Perception of Relevance Scale and Academic Anxiety Scale. Data analysis used Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed that the majority of students had medium perceived relevance (64%) and medium academic anxiety (55%). Hypothesis testing revealed a significant negative relationship between perceived relevance and academic anxiety (r = -0.542; p < 0.05). Perceived relevance contributed 29.3% to the reduction of anxiety. This finding implies that higher perceived relevance of mathematics materials correlates with lower anxiety levels in students. Educators are advised to implement contextual learning emphasizing utility value to help reduce student anxiety

Abstract

This umbrella review synthesizes evidence from systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the effectiveness of intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, and artificial intelligence-based technologies in mathematics learning. A semi-automated search was conducted on 18 December 2025 using an indexed academic search engine, complemented by forward-backward citation chasing. Eligible reviews were screened and appraised using a proxy version of AMSTAR 2 focused on critical domains. Across the included reviews, technology-enhanced and adaptive interventions generally showed small-to-moderate positive effects on mathematics achievement, with more consistent benefits when feedback was immediate, personalization was meaningful, and implementation was supported by teachers and well-aligned tasks. Evidence for non-cognitive outcomes (e.g., motivation, self-efficacy, engagement) was positive but less consistently reported. Heterogeneity across contexts and substantial overlap among primary studies remain major challenges. The review highlights implementation conditions, recurring moderators, and priority gaps to strengthen future research and reporting in mathematics education.
