Abstract

This study aims to determine the development procedure and feasibility of learning media for mathematics assisted by the android studio to explore the mathematical abilities of seventh-grade junior high school students. This type of research is research and development (RD). The model used is a 4-D model. The stages of the 4-D model consist of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The instruments used are validation sheets and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is in the form of qualitative descriptive analysis. The validation results obtained from material experts obtained an average of 3.57 with very valid criteria, media experts got an average of 3.66 with very valid criteria, and large group trials obtained a percentage of 72.49% with practical criteria. Based on the product development stages and the criteria that have been set, the mathematics learning media assisted by the android studio is declared valid and practical and can be used as a reference to explore students' mathematical abilities because the products developed are focused and have strong characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process and describe the results of problem posing learning treatments on students' creative thinking skills field dependent on statistical material. This research is categorized as Single Subject Research (SSR) A-B research with a quantitative approach. The study was designed for 8 sessions with 4 initial sessions of the baseline phase and 4 final sessions of the intervention phase (problem posing learning). Research sample were selected using purposive sampling technique. Collecting data using GEFT, problem submission test (TPM), observation, and interviews. Research data were analyzed in 2 ways, i.e. analysis under and between conditions. The results showed that students with field dependent cognitive style could pose problems in statistical material by using a problem posing learning model. The results of the evaluation before and after treatment showed an increase in the components of creative thinking, fluency and novelty, so that the treatment given could improve the mathematical creative thinking skills of field dependent students. However, the creative component of novelty cannot yet be improved

Abstract

This research aims to determine the improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills in junior high school students between students who get REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying Cooperating and Transferring) strategy learning with students who get direct instruction and find out student responses to learning with the REACT strategy. The research uses a quasi-experimental method with type of research was with Non-equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this research were grade VIII students in even semester 2018/2019 in one of the state junior high school in the city of Bandung. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample consisting of 2 classes, namely class VIII-A as a control class of 25 students and VIII-C as an experimental class as many as 26 students. Data collection obtained from the results of pretest and posttest. The results showed that the improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills through REACT strategy learning was significantly higher than direct learning. The increase in the learning outcomes of the experimental class students is in the medium category, while the increase in the control class students' learning outcomes is in the low category)

Abstract

This study aims to develop an online inquiry mathematics learning model based on Javanese Cultural Ethnomathematics. To achieve this goal, development research is carried out which refers to the educational development model from Plomp with the following stages: Initial Investigation Stage, Design/Design Stage, Realization/Construction Stage, Test Stage, Evaluation, and Revision, and Dissemination and Implementation Stage. In this study, the initial investigation stage and design stage were carried out. The initial investigation phase includes field observations, literature studies and FGD (Focus Group Discussion). The design phase is carried out by designing learning model books along with learning tools and validation is carried out. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The data and information that have been collected are then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the development stage of the learning model had reached the design stage. The results of the research achieved were after carrying out observations at school and field observations at ten Javanese Cultural sites, then FGD was carried out to obtain the syntax of an ethnomathematics-based online inquiry learning model. The syntax of the online inquiry learning model based on Javanese Culture ethnomathematics is: Orientation; Formulating the problems; Formulating the hypothesis; Collecting data; Test the hypothesis; Formulating conclusions; and Communicating results. The syntax of the learning model that has been set is used as a guide in developing an online inquiry-based mathematics learning model book based on Javanese Culture ethnomathematics. The results of the validity test showed that the learning model book was declared valid and feasible to use.

Abstract

This research conducted a calculation of all villages area (253 villages) which located in Semarang regency. The data obtained is based on the data from GADM and Google earth by using the coordinate points (latitude and longitude). The research stage used were (1) finding the coordinate of villages boundaries in Semarang regency based on the data from GADM and Google Earth, (2) calculating the village area using two methods (Karney polygon method and circle method) and (3) analyzing the comparison of villages area based on each district and the reference area from Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The purpose of this research is the researchers would like to find out whether or not the Karney polygon method can be used to calculate the area of 253 villages in Semarang regency. From this research, it obtains the percentage difference with the lowest and highest percentage based on the data from GADM and Google Earth. The lowest percentage uses the Karney polygon method (GADM) of 7.63% and the highest percentage is 66.5%. The lowest percentage uses the circle method (GADM) is 14.39% and the highest percentage is 74.79%. The lowest percentage uses the Karney polygon method (Google Earth) is 7.63% and the highest percentage is 66%. The lowest percentage uses the circle method (Google Earth) is 15.87% and the highest percentage is 234%. MdAPE results for the data based on GADM using the Karney polygon method has the percentage of 18.73% and 35.19% by using the circle method. Based on Google Earth using the Karney polygon method, it has the percentage of 18.48% and 33.93% by using the circle method. It can be concluded that the Karney polygon method can be used to calculate the area of 253 villages in 19 districts in Semarang regency based on the data from GADM and Google Earth

Abstract

This study aims to improve the problem-solving ability of students in mathematics. The type of research is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 academic year with the research subject in class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 4 Gorontalo Utara. This study uses a Problem Based Learning Model with the number of students who are subject to action being 34 people. The CAR design uses the Kemmis and Taggart models, including planning, action and observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques use observation, questionnaires, and tests. Data analysis used quantitative and qualitative descriptive statistics. The research took place in 2 cycles. The results of data analysis show that in this study the average scores of formative tests in cycle I and cycle II respectively were: 73.76 and 85.12. Based on the minimum completeness criteria (MCC) set by the school, namely 75, then in the first cycle, the students who got a score of 75 were 24 people or 72.7% of the 33 students who attended. In the second cycle who got a score of 75 were 30 people or 88.23% of the 34 students who attended.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the Joyful Learning learning model on motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. This type of research is quasi-experimental research with the design of the randomize control group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were students of class X SMA Negeri 3 Salatiga Semester 2 of the 2015/2016 academic year. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling technique and it was obtained that the students of class X.6 (32 students) were the experimental class which was taught using the Joyful Learning learning model, X.7 (34 students) was the control class which was taught using the conventional learning model. The instruments used in this study were the UTS and posttest value data to measure learning outcomes and a questionnaire to measure student learning motivation. The test instrument validation trial and questionnaire included expert validation. The data analysis used was the normality test with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, the homogeneity test with the Levene test and the mean difference test with the Independent Sample t-test. All tests were carried out with a significance level of 5% with the calculation tool SPSS 16.0.0 software. The results of the initial conditions both for learning motivation and learning outcomes are in a balanced condition. The results of hypothesis testing using the independent sample t-test for the final condition of learning motivation and the Mann-Whitney U-Test for the final ability of learning outcomes. The significant value for learning motivation is 0.443 0.05. This shows that there is no effect of the joyful learning model on learning motivation of class X SMA Negeri 3 Salatiga. The significant value for the final ability of learning outcomes is 0.357 0.05. This shows that there is no influence of the Joyful Learning model on the learning outcomes of class X SMA Negeri 3 Salatiga. It can be concluded that the Joyful Learning learning model has no effect on the motivation and learning outcomes of students in class X SMA Negeri 3 Salatiga.
