Abstract

This research aims to analyze junior high school student?s error in solving mathematics test on fraction using Makhubele, Nkhoma, and Luneta?s error category. This research was conducted by giving individual written test (three question) in the fraction material. Participants in this study were 5 junior high school students who had studied fraction material in their school. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that students in number 1 had 2 students who did err1 (slip) and 1 student who did err2 (conceptual error), in number 2 there was 1 student who did err3 (procedural error), and in number 3 there is 1 person who did err2 and 1 person who did err1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the form of teaching materials for fractional calculating operations on multimedia assisted of mathematics learning to improve students' mathematical understanding skills in inclusive schools. Mathematical understanding is all forms of thought processes taken in forming the structure of knowledge. Indicators of mathematical understanding used in this study are students can distinguish the material that has been studied with the previous material, students can formulate how the material has been learned, students can deduce what material has been learned, and students can solve mathematical problems in everyday life relating to the material he has learned. Students in inclusive schools are more diverse than the common school so that teachers need to brainwave how to make classroom learning more interesting. Multimedia learning can be the solution to these problems.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the errors of high school students on linear program topics by using the Newman Error Analysis. This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. This research was conducted by giving a test to participants consisting of a three-word problem on the topic of a linear program then conducting interviews as a data collection technique. Participants in this study were five female students of class XI in one of the senior high schools in Bandung, including four people who were students majoring in Sciences studies and one person who was a student majoring in Social studies. Based on the results of a research according to the Newman Error Analysis, all participants made several types of errors on the topic of a linear program. Errors made by the participants include transformation errors made by three students, the process skill errors made by two students, and writing error answers made by two students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the levels of geometric thinking, mistakes, and misconceptions of students on the concept of conics. This study was conducted on 91 students in the first semester in 2017 at one of the universities in Indonesia. Data were collected using written tests, interviews, and documentation. From the test results, the students' answers were divided into correct and incorrect solutions. Interviews and documentation were used to analyze level of geometric thinking nd student misconception. As a result, the misconceptions found were (1) the students could not determine the two possible simple equations, (2) the students could not determine the description of a simple parabola equation, (3) the students could not determine the conics equation, (4) the students could not prove the length of the latus rectum of an ellipse, (5) the students could not determine a simple equation of asymptote of hyperbola, while its vertices point were known, and (6) the students could not determine the equations of hyperbola focus and the difference between the length of the radius of the focus was known. Students who experienced mistakes and misconceptions were still at the first level of the van Hiele geometric thinking model.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of online mathematical game design using HTML and Flash in e-learning-assisted mathematics education multimedia lectures. This research is a pre-experimental type of one-shot case study. The research participants were a class of students consisting of 34 people (5 men and 29 women), 5th- semester students in multimedia mathematics education courses in the mathematics education department at one of the universities in Indonesia. The research instrument was a questionnaire through Google forms and interviews. In this study, triangulation was carried out using documentation, interviews, and theory. Based on the results of the study note that HTML and Flash can be used in the design of mathematical games even though students have not previously learned both but the results are good. The author suggests that students be able to try the math game at school during research or teaching practice. In addition, the authors hope the game can be published on the internet so that it can be used by many students.

Abstract

Geometri merupakan salah satu bidang kajian dalam kurikulum matematika sekolah karena geometri mempelajari berbagai konsep geometris yang digunakan dalam materi matematika lainnya dan berbagai bidang keilmuan lainnya. Teori berpikir geometri van Hiele menyatakan terdapat lima tahap berpikir siswa dalam bidang geometri, yaitu level 0 (visualisasi), level 1 (analisis), level 2 (deduksi informal), level 3 (deduksi), dan level 4 (rigor). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir geometri van Hiele level 0 (visualisasi), level 1 (analisis), dan level 2 (deduksi informal) pada siswa sekolah menengah pertama ditinjau dari perspektif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Intsrumen yang digunakan adalah tes yang setiap butir soalnya mewakili satu tahap berpikir geometri van Hiele dan wawancara. Tes dan wawancara dilakukan kepada 4 orang siswa SMP di salah satu sekolah di Jawa Barat yang terdiri dari 2 orang siswa perempuan dan 2 orang siswa laki-laki pada tahun ajaran 2019/2020 yang dipilih secara acak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keempat siswa berada pada level 2 (deduksi informal) berpikir geometri van Hiele. Siswa perempuan sedikit lebih baik dalam mengenali sifat-sifat bangun datar segiempat dibandingan siswa laki-laki. Dan tidak ada perbedaan yang menonjol antara kemampuan berpikir geometri van Hiele siswa perempuan dan siswa laki-laki.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh multimedia pembelajaran matematika topik perkalian pada pecahan yang didesain via aplikasi Geogebra. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa multimedia pembelajaran matematika topik perkalian pada pecahan yang didesain via aplikasi Geogebra dapat dilakukan dengan baik melalui model pengembangan MDLC. Harapannya penelitian ini dapat dilanjutkan dengan melakukan uji coba pada siswa sehingga diperoleh respons siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the analysis of the quality of the mathematical students' initial ability in the field of geometry concepts through the Rasch model. This research is descriptive qualitative research at a university in Indonesia. The participants of this study were 44 students who studied analytic geometry (30 women and 14 men). This research instrument is a matter of description of the concept of geometry as many as four questions. Based on the results of the study note that all items meet the standard criteria as measurement so that the questions can be used as instruments in further research.
