Abstract

Memorizing the Qur’an is a highly recommended act of worship for Muslims, yet traditional learning methods often face constraints such as limited availability of competent teachers. With technological advancements, innovations to support the memorization process independently, objectively, and efficiently are greatly needed. This research aims to develop and measure the performance of an automated system for testing the memorization of Surat Al-Ghasyiyah (verses 1–26) through voice recognition using the Walsh Transform method. The Walsh Transform is applied to convert voice signals from the time domain to the frequency domain using basis functions valued at +1 and −1, extracting unique features from each verse to be compared with reference voice samples. The system was tested on all 26 verses using 6 training voice samples and 4 test voice samples per verse (total 260 samples: 156 training and 104 test). System performance was evaluated using four variations of probability constants: 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.6. Results indicate that the probability constant significantly affects system accuracy. Detection rates achieved were 70.2% (constant 0.3), 84.6% (constant 0.4), 89.4% (constant 0.5), and peaked at 93.3% (constant 0.6). With an overall average detection rate of 84.4%, it is concluded that the Walsh Transform method is highly effective and the developed system has potential as a reliable aid for Qur’an memorizers.

Abstract

The Generation Planning Ambassador (GenRe) selection is an activity aimed at shaping youth as agents of change in disseminating information on family life planning, reproductive health, and the prevention of early marriage. The GenRe Ambassador selection process involves several assessment criteria that must be considered to determine the best participants. In the assessment process, there were 20 participants who were assessed based on several aspects determined by the selection committee. Therefore, a system is needed that can assist in processing participant assessment data in a structured manner. This study aims to apply the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method and build a web-based Decision Support System to assist in the processing and calculation of participant scores in the selection of the Asahan Regency GenRe Ambassador. This system uses five assessment criteria, namely public speaking, work programs during the contract period, attitude and personality, appearance and dress code, and insight and knowledge about the GenRe program. The SAW method is implemented through a process of normalization, weighting, and ranking to generate preference scores for each participant. The results of the study showed that the system built was able to automatically process data from 20 participants, perform SAW method calculations, and produce rankings of male and female participants based on 5 assessment criteria.

Abstract

Energy demand in Indonesia's industrial sector continues to rise, particularly within oyster mushroom cultivation, which relies on LPG for baglog sterilization. However, this process is often inefficient, resulting in high fuel consumption and diminished mushroom yields. This study aims to analyze the influence of retention time and steam flow rate variations on thermal efficiency, specific fuel consumption, and sterilization effectiveness of an LPG-fueled baglog steamer. The research was conducted at the Chemical Engineering Laboratory, Sriwijaya State Polytechnic, from April to December 2025. The methodology involved preparing baglogs using wood sawdust, bran, corn flour, and lime, followed by the sterilization of 12 units. Experimental variables included retention times ranging from 2 to 6 hours (with a constant flow rate of 3.04 kg/h) and flow rates ranging from 2.79 to 3.25 kg/h (with a constant retention time of 4 hours). Observations encompassed temperature, pressure, and LPG consumption measurements, alongside sterilization verification through inoculation, incubation, and organoleptic examination. Results indicated a peak thermal efficiency of 58.34% at a retention time of 4 hours. The lowest specific fuel consumption was observed at longer retention times, while sterilization effectiveness reached 91.7%, yielding a total mushroom mass of 4,829 grams at 6 hours. It is concluded that the optimal operating condition is a retention time of 4 hours with a flow rate of 3.04 kg/h to achieve a balance between efficiency and effectiveness. Recommendations include the addition of thermal insulation to the steamer to minimize heat loss and enhance energy efficiency.

Abstract

The increasing use of digital platforms is encouraging Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to utilize more engaging promotional media to enhance the appeal of their products. However, many MSMEs still rely on conventional promotional methods that are visually unappealing and ineffective in reaching a wider audience. This study aims to implement parallax scrolling techniques in 2D animation as a promotional medium for the Snack Barokah MSME. This study employs the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which consists of six stages: concept, design, material collection, production, testing, and distribution. Data collection was conducted through interviews with the business owner as well as documentation regarding product information and promotional needs. The animation production process utilized Adobe Illustrator for creating visual assets and Adobe After Effects for assembling the animation by applying parallax scrolling techniques, thereby producing depth effects and dynamic visual movement. The research outcome is a 40-second promotional animation video with 1080p resolution, comprising seven main scenes showcasing product information and brand identity. The developed media was then tested using a questionnaire administered to 30 respondents representing the target audience. The evaluation results showed that the product recognition aspect received the highest average score of 4.76, indicating that the animated media effectively conveys product information. Overall, the developed animated media was assessed as having an attractive visual appearance and being effective as a promotional medium. Thus, the implementation of parallax scrolling techniques in 2D animation can be utilized as an effective digital promotional medium to increase product visibility and audience engagement for SMEs.

Abstract

Mosquito-borne diseases, including malaria, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), and chikungunya, remain significant public health challenges in Indonesia. With the extensive use of the internet, social media platforms such as X (Twitter) and Instagram have emerged as vital sources for capturing public sentiment in real-time. This study aims to identify and analyze Indonesian public sentiment regarding these diseases using a Deep Learning approach. The dataset comprises 1,800 records collected between 2024 and 2025 via web scraping. The methodology utilizes the BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) model for contextual feature extraction, evaluated through three Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) architectures: LSTM, GRU, and BiLSTM. The results reveal a predominant negative sentiment (56.99%), followed by neutral (32.99%) and positive (10.01%). While all models achieved high training accuracy (approx. 96%), the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) demonstrated superior generalization with the highest average validation accuracy of 94.24%. This study concludes that the GRU model is the most stable and effective architecture for classifying Indonesian public health sentiments on social media.

Abstract

This study investigates the classification of Kodály hand signs using hand landmark features extracted from MediaPipe Hands. A landmark-based approach was chosen because it represents hand gestures as structured numerical features that are more efficient than raw image data. The objective of this study is to compare the performance of three tree-based machine learning algorithms, namely Decision Tree, Random Forest, and XGBoost, for classifying eight Kodály hand sign classes (Do–Do’). A dataset consisting of 8,000 samples was collected with a balanced distribution of 1,000 samples per class from 2 participants using the right hand only. Each sample is represented by 63 features derived from 21 hand landmarks with (x, y, z) coordinates. The data were divided using an 80% training and 20% testing holdout scheme and further validated using Stratified 5-fold cross-validation. Model performance was evaluated using accuracy, macro-precision, macro-recall, macro F1-score, and confusion matrix analysis. Experimental results show that XGBoost achieves the best performance with an accuracy of 0.9712 and macro F1-score of 0.9714 in the holdout evaluation and remains stable in cross-validation with an accuracy of 0.9768 ± 0.0046. Random Forest achieved slightly lower performance, while Decision Tree produced the lowest accuracy. Confusion matrix analysis indicates that most misclassifications occur between classes with similar landmark patterns, particularly La and Mi. Therefore, XGBoost is recommended as the most effective model for landmark-based Kodály hand sign classification.
