Abstract

Poor power factor often result to high losses of active power in the network. It measures the percentage of apparent power that can be used to do actual work by the loads. However, this result in reduction of systems reliability and creates safety problems and a much increased energy cost. These inductive loads include induction motors, transformers, and reactors and they have negative effect on the actual power used up by the loads. In this paper, Power factor correction (PFC) has been done by the addition of the needed capacitance to counteract the inductive load which is present in the electrical network of Port Harcourt distribution system. The load values, MVAr values and the existing power factor of Port Harcourt electricity network where used to derive the needed shunt capacitance to a most appropriate value of 0.95. This enabled current savings of 23.15 percent in all the 11kV buses as well as reducing the required MVA needed to feed the loads to 101.48MVA as against 132.07MVA when the power factor was 0.73. These reductions were achieved by adding a capacitance of 34.48MVAr and the current reductions reduce losses along the lines since the square of current is proportional to losses. Also the added system capacity will mean that more loads can be fed by the system when the added capacitance brings the system to a power factor of 0.95.

Abstract

In the past decade, hospitality Industry worldwide has seen a wide change in terms of marketing and connecting with the customers. This change has brought a new dimension to marketing i.e. social media marketing. With the social media marketing, the gap between the hotel and the customer has reduced tremendously. The increasing customer, employee and organization engagement to social media compel us to think the about the future of this industry. The competition is growing, the customers are now well aware, so how would a hotel connect to the customer in a different way than its competitor? This situation leads us to the question Is social media the future of hospitality industry? This paper aims at studying the concept of Social Hotel and its relevance in Indian Hospitality Industry. This paper will help us to understand the future of social media marketing and its use and the need and importance of social hotel.

Abstract

Any country’s environmental problems are related to the level of its economic development, the availability of natural resources and the lifestyle of its population. In India, rapid growth of population, poverty, urbanization, industrialization and several related factors are responsible for the rapid degradation of the environment. Environmental problems have become serious in many parts of the country, and hence cannot be ignored.  80% of the total population of Odisha, a state of Eastern India depends on agriculture. But most of them are small and marginal farmers. 48% farmer’s households are indebted. The state in reality is the second poorest state in India today, next only to Bihar. Industrialization is the only alternative to develop the economic status of the state but the darker side of it is environmental pollution. Hence if growth of industry can be accelerated along with environmental protection then a balance can be maintained. So this paper examines the growth of cottage industries in the state of Odisha through different statistical analysis as this is an ecofriendly industry and simultaneously a prospective area for the growth of indigenous talent.

Abstract

All young are deeply concerned about their future vocational roles. Vocation is valued by most adolescents, for its contributions to self-esteem, financial independence, and social maturity. The present study is done to find out the gender difference in vocational interest of high school adolescents. The sample for the investigation consisted of 300 adolescents (150 boys & 150 girls) studying in 10th class. The sample was taken from six schools of Rohtak city. Standardized tool was used to measure the variable Vocational Interest Record (VIR) (Kulshrestha, 1984). For analysis of data, mean, standard deviation, and t-test were computed. The results of the study revealed that, gender difference in vocational interest was seen. Results indicated that t scores on artistic, agricultural, social and house hold dimensions of vocational interest were significant. Significant different exists between boys and girls on above vocational areas. Girls were high on artistic, social and house hold jobs as compared to boys whereas boys were high on agricultural jobs.

Abstract

This study critically examined the Impact of Talent Management Strategies on Organizational Performance in Selected Deposit Money Banks (DMB) in Lagos State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study sought to; (i) determine the extent succession planning relates to sustainability; (ii) ascertain to what extent human capital development impacts on innovative capabilities of employees; and, (iii) examine the degree compensation impacts on employee engagement, in selected DMBs under study. The study adopted the survey design. The population of the study was 3126 comprising management and junior staff drawn from the selected DMBs in Lagos state, Nigeria. These include First Bank of Nigeria Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, and Ecobank Plc. The sample size of 359 was obtained from the population using Bill Godden’s formula at 5% error margin and 90% level of confidence...

Abstract

This paper explores information about hierarchy and characteristic of storage devices. Lack of knowledge about storage device that used by everyone in the world is the main background of this paper. People can understand what the different of types, function, advantage and disadvantage of several storage devices. This paper examines several articles from online source, and writer’s experience in use of storage devices. In order to gain a complete understanding of Storage Device’s types, divisions, functions and relationships, it is necessary to conduct a study that examines all parts of storage device. It is important to gain knowledge about storage device because in this modern age, every information stored as data more efficient, less space, and can easily accessible. The needs of each individual will be different, will be better if we know about what we do, what we need, and what best storage device that can suite our activities.

Abstract

The use of celebrities is one of the very many marketing strategies employed by marketers in today’s business environment. The Nigerian economy has witnessed increased launching of consumer products. No doubt, intense competition in the business environment among various products and services has led to organizations endorsing deals/ambassadors. Nowadays, we hear the term “brand ambassadors” more often than usual. Celebrity endorsement is one of the very many features of modern marketing. This study attempts to determine the effect of celebrity endorsement on consumer purchase of a product. 200 young adults were conveniently selected as respondents for the study. Regression was used to test for the significance of the hypotheses generated.

Abstract

Motor disability is a situation that induces disadvantage in people who suffer from it about healthy people. This situation can be accentuated in the case of university students who must fulfill diverse activities that demand different degrees of physical and mental effort, where the students with motor disability can feel the consequences derived from the disability, with direct influence in the resilience of the students, same. The work shows the results of a study carried out on a group of 35 young people with motor disabilities who study at the Technical University of Manabí. Wherein the result of resilience is reflected regarding age, the stage of acquired disability and the degree of it, highlighting the need for the development of psychology activities that favor the strengthening of resilience.
