Abstract

Maternal and child health is the first priority to be addressed as it is the source of future generations and indicators of progress of a nation. To maintain the health of mothers and children, one important factor is nutrition, one of which is a vegetarian who is often doubted by many people and considered unable to guarantee health. This paper aims to provide information about how vegetarianism is a valuable and supported nutrient if it can be arranged and properly arranged. The method in this research is literature study. All the nutrients obtained from animal sources can also be obtained from vegetable sources, as we know that animals eat plants. Thus, the elements contained in the animal body are the elements present in plants. So, food from vegetable is actually almost the same, as long as it can be arranged well in the menu. Nowadays vegetarians have been scientifically proven in developed countries, so the development of vegetarians is very advanced. Some nutrients such as essential amino acids, vitamin B12, iron (Fe) and other nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and fiber are not problematic in pregnant women and vegetarian children, because these needs can be met from vegetable. Vegetarian is a nutrient derived from the meatless vegetation that is the result of the murder. But to complement the need for essential proteins need to be supplemented with milk or dairy products like cheese, yogurt and others.

Abstract

The Sanitation Clinic program has been introduced and implemented since 2003. But in many places the program does not run well, and is not managed properly, leaving a lot of problems. In some places sanitation clinic activities are conducted without any purposes, and merely administration activity without doing real action. The objectives of the study were to analyze the internal and external factors of the tangible, reliable, responsive, assurance, and emphathy together, and and to find which factor is the most dominantly in influencing the number of sanitation clinic visits. The study was an analytic survey research, it was focused to explain how and why of certain situation. Based on the period of data collection, this study belongs to cross sectional study. Methods of data analysis was using multiple regression method to see whether there is a relationship and the closeness of the relationship of each independent variable to dependent variable, and the relationship between variables in the study. The result of standardized Coefficients Beta from the five dimensions of service quality stated that the assurance dimension (X4) has the largest standardized Coefficients Beta value of -0.007. There was a significant influence jointly between internal and external factors (tangible, reliable, responsive, assurance, and emphathy) on the number of visits. Insurance dimension is the most dominant dimension of the number of visits in Sanitation Clinic in Public Health Center of Poncol, Magetan Regency.

Abstract

The extract of Pagoda leaves can play roles as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacteria. Interleukin 6 (IL-6 henceforth) is the primary mediator in responding to the inflammation, while mastitis is caused by bacteria often found in the increased level of IL-6. This research aimed to unveil the effect of giving the extracts of Pagoda leaves on the level of IL-6 of female rats (Sprague dawley therefore) induced by staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This true experimental research employing pre- and post-test control design used eighteen rats chosen randomly. All rats were divided into three groups, namely negative control (placebo), positive control (amoxicillin 9.6 mg/ml/kgBB/hari/oral) and treatment group (amoxicillin 9.6 mg/ml/KgBB + EDP 50 mg/ml/KgBB/hari/oral). All groups were induced by S.aureus 0.2x108 CFU. Treatment was given for five days. Investigating the level of IL-6 was done using ELISA method. The data were anaylized using ANOVA formula followed by post hoc. The empirical findings showed that there was a difference in terms of the level of IL-6 in all of the groups ±24 before and after the induction of S.aureus. The result of investigating the level of IL-6 in the post-test was significant (ρ = 0.00), meaning that there was a significant difference, in which the negative control group, the level of IL-6 was insacalating; while it was dipping in both the positive and treatment groups. However, the treatment group experienced the most significant drop in terms of the level of IL-6. It can be concluded that Pagoda leaves can be used as a complementary therapy for mastitis illness caused by the S.aureus bacteria.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the effect of wood dust on TNF-α on Mice blood (MusMusculus) BALB / C and to analyze the influence of wood dust on the number of inflammatory cells, ie macrophage, lymphocyte, neutrophil and mast cell in lung tissue of mice BALB / C, as well as explain the mechanism of lungs hypersensitivity reaction due to wood furniture dust exposure. The experimental laboratory research was conducted, and mice was become the animal experiment. The research design used was Randomized the post-test only control group design. Exposure was performed 4 hours a day with 2 hours length of exposure in the morning with 1 hour rest period in 6 times a week for 4 weeks at exposure space in a glass-shaped cube with a size of 20x20x20 cm3. Concentrations of wood furniture dust exposed were 0.50 mg / m3, 0.75 mg / m3, 1.00 mg / m3. The findings showed that: (1) wood furniture dust exposure increased between experimental group compared with control group in mice (Musmusculus) BALB / C; (2) wood furniture dust exposure increased TNF, in lung tissue between experimental group compared with control group in mice (Musmusculus) BALB / C; and (3) wood furniture dust exposure increased mast cells, neutrophils, lymphocytes, and macrophages in lung tissue between experimental group compared with control group in mice (Musmusculus) BALB / C.

Abstract

Prevention of iron deficiency anemia in Indonesia using ferrous sulfas blood-added tablets started since 1997. But iron deficiency anemia is still high, also in young women. Young women are vulnerable because of rapid growth and unhealthy their consumption patterns, which rarely consume fruits and vegetables that are a source of vitamin C. The purpose of this study was to analyze the addition of vitamin C in iron supplementation + folic acid to serum ferritin levels in adolescents females anemia. This research was an experimental quasi research. Design of research was Randomized Pre Post Test Control Group Design, with Double Blind treatment. This study had one treatment group and one control group, each group of 11 samples. The samples were chosen randomly with inclusion and exclusion. The collected data was processed using SPSS program with the analysis of paired t-test and independent t-test to test the difference of serum ferritin level. The results was showed the characteristics of respondents: age (p = 0.430), education of mother (p = 0.942) and nutritional knowledge of respondents (p = 0.928) in the same condition or both groups were had homogeneous characteristics. The pattern and level of food consumption were showed no different between control and traetment groups (p> 0.05). Serum ferritin levels showed difference between the two groups after treatment (p = 0.004). The study was showed vitamin C had role in increasing iron absorption and fill in storage of ferritin formation. Keywords: Anemia, Vitamin C, Iron supplement, Ferritin
