Abstract

The number of patients with hyperglycemia in the world and in Indonesia is estimated to increase rapidly in the next 25 years. The content of cinnamaldehyde, flavonoids, polyphenols, and chromium in cinnamon thought to have an influence of hypoglycemia. This study aimed to determine the influence of cinnamon extract to a decrease of blood glucose levels in hyperglycemic rats induced by a single dose of alloxan as much as 125 mg/kg. This study was laboratory experiment by using RAL (Complete Randomize Design) with Pre-Post Test Control Group Design Research. Experimental animals used were male Wistar rats divided into 5 groups. KN was negative control group. KP was hyperglycemic positive control group. P1 was the first treatment group (a dose of 200 mg/kg). P2 was the second treatment group (a dose of 250 mg/kg). P3 was the third treatment group (a dose of 300 mg/kg). Cinnamon therapy was given orally for 14 days. The results of this research was tested statistically by using One Way ANOVA and showed that there were significant differences between the blood glucose levels in the treatment group with the positive and negative control groups. Abstract

Apples as one of the commercial fruits consumed mostly by society are economically high value plants as world commodity moreover they are favorable and rich in vitamin. Formalin is a harmful preservative and is not allowed to be used on food. Although, formalin utilization is inhibited by the government, yet it is still used numerously by many sellers. This study aimed to understand behavioral factors of fruit seller toward formalin contents on imported apples of Fruit market in Kendari 2015. This study was descriptive with laboratory test to describe behavioral factors of fruit seller toward formalin contents through exhausted sampling technique. The object of study was 12 respondents with 48 samples of apples spread out of Fruit Market in Kendari City. The results of the study indicated that all knowledge of seller about formalin literally was good which was 100%, all attitude of seller about formalin  was good which was 100%, and all practice of seller about formaline  was good which was 100% of fruit sellers did not add formalin to the fruits. On the other hand, based on laboratory test it showed that 8 apples (16.7%) positively contained formalin. It is suggested to improve control and inspection periodically on apples to diminish prohibited preservative like formalin on fruits.

Abstract

Background: The age of menopause between woman and other women is not similar and it depends on the factors that influence it. Some opinions suggest that menopause occurs at the age of 48-50 years, including in the climacteric period which is a syndrome of endocrine, somatic, and psychic changes at the end of the fertile / reproductive period (40-65 years). Objective: Analyze factors affecting menopause to woman. Methods: The type of this conducted research was survey research that was descriptive analytic. Population in this research was all women who aged 45-50 years at BPS Media in Surabaya, and there were 46 women. Multivariate analysis was conducted by utilizing multiple logistic regression in order to predict how far the value of dependent variable when the value of independent variable changed. Results: Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the effect of independent variables simultaneously to the dependent variable. The variable of menarcheage, job status, number of children, age in childbirthing for last child, contraception use, smoking, alcohol consumption, and disease history had p <0.25 and treated simultaneously by using forward stepwise method with 95% of confidence level. From the result of multiple logistic regression analysis, it turned out that the variable of menarche age (p = 0.762), the last childbirth age (p = 0.231), alcohol consumption (0.659), and disease history (p = 0.711) had no significant influence which p value was greater rather than α value (0.05), thus, it was excluded from the multiple logistic regression analysis model. Based on the result of multiple logistic regression analysis, the employment status, the number of children, the use of contraception, and smoking correlated with the occurrence of menopause with the probability value was smaller than α value  (0.05), which work status was p = 0.033, p = 0.003, and smoking was p = 0.003. Conclusion: From the result of multiple logistic regression analysis, it was found that job status, number of children, contraception use, and smoking were simultaneously correlated with the occurrence of menopause, which each variable had a smaller probability value than α value (0.05), employment status (p = 0.033), number of children (p = 0.000), contraception use (p = 0.004), and smoking (p = 0.003). From the results of logistic regression equations, it was known that the probability of premature menopause was occurred if woman who worked, had children less than 4 children, never used contraception, and ever smoked were 0.95 or 95%.

Abstract

The Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is one of the methods to perform cervical cancer test by applying acetic acid. The huge number of cervical cancer cases in Indonesia has worsened because more than 80% of the cases that have been brought to hospitals were already in an advanced stage. The aim of the research is to analyse the variable influence: projection, self efficacy and intention toward the decision to perform early detection of cervical cancer with the VIA test. The research design was cross sectional. The population were women of childbearing age in Pematangsiantar and the samples size were 245 respondents selected by multistage random sampling. The variables were projection, self efficacy intention and decision. The statistical analysis was Structural Equation Modelling. The results of the study were: 1) self efficacy affects intention (p= 0.000), 2) projection affects intention (p= 0.000), 3) intention affects decision (p= 0.000). The models of projection, self efficacy and intention take effect on the decision to perform early detection of cervical cancer with the VIA. Abstract

Family Cenetered Maternity Care (FCMC) Education is family-centered care by providing care for women and their families that integrate pregnancy, delivery, childbirth, and infant care into the continuum of the family life cycle as usual through healthy living. The care given to the individual prioritizes the support, participation, and choice of the family. Treatments that need to be done in the puerperium are breast care for breastfeeding and postpartum perineal care to avoid infection. The study was conducted with the aim to know the Effectiveness of Family Centered Maternity Care (FCMC) Education in Increasing Independence of Postpartum Mother in Malang Regency. The research type is true experimental with Pretest-Posttest Design approach. Sampling is done by systematic random sample. Data collection was obtained with questionnaires to postpartum physiologic mothers as many as 12 postpartum mothers in the intervention and control group. Result showed after being educated almost all (92%) of respondents have been self-sufficient in breast care, independence in perineal care at 83% independent level and 8% light dependence. FCMC education can increase independence in care needs during the puerperium. Breast care is done to prepare the lactation process, especially during the puerperium for the babys nutritional needs. While perineum treatment is done to maintain hygiene and prevent infection in the vulva, perineum in the uterus and perineum wound healing. Abstract

WHO declares that obesity is a global epidemic. In 2014, 39% of adults >18 years old were overweight and 13% had obesity. This research aims to determine the effect of green coffee extract on the weight rats fed high-fat diet. Method: This research is true experimental pre-post test with control group design. The animals were grouped into 5 groups, i.e., group1 (negative control), group2 (positive controls fed high-fat diet), group3 (high-fat diet and GCBE dose of 100 mg/kg BW), group4 (high-fat diet and GCBE with dose of 200 mg/Kg BW), group5 (high-fat diet and GCBE dose of 400 mg/Kg BW). The obtained data were tested with one-way ANOVA followed by LSD analysis with α=0.05. Results: This research proves that green coffee bean extract with a dose of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg BW can lower weight of rats with higt fat diet. Discussion: Green coffee extract contains active compound of chlorogenic acid that can increase AMPK activity so it has positive impact that can direct the result of metabolite substance, which is useful in decreasing fat synthesis. The high fat oxidation process results in decreased fat synthesis characterized by burning fat into energy thereby decreasing fat cells in adipose tissue.
