Abstract

Gambir (Uncaria gambir (W. Hunter) Roxb) contains catechins, quercetin, alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins that have a role as antioxidants. The objectives of this research is to observe whether or not extract etanol Gambir can be formulated by Peel Off mask preparation form. In this experimental methods, the extract was obtained by percolate extraction using 80% ethanol, and then concentrated with a rotary evaporator at 40ºC and dried by evaporation over a water bath at a temperature around 60ºC. Phytochemical screening was used to test the content of the chemical compounds found in gambir and gambir ethanol extract. The results of the screening test showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. This research concluded that extract of ethanol of gambir can be formulated in the form of peel-off mask in a homogeneous preparation that has no skin irritation, pH 5.2 to 5.6 and stable in storage for 4 weeks.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a relationship of senile cataract with blood sugar levels for people with diabetes who checked in BKIM (Balai Kesehatan Indera Masyarakat) Medan. Research was done through two stages, blood sampling and examination of blood glucose levels and data analysis. The patient's blood is taken at any time from the patient's fingertip. Data were analyzed calculated the correlation relationship where the cataract as the parameters x and y are the blood sugar levels. Correlation calculation results indicate the number r = 0:46, which means there is less close relationship between cataracts and blood sugar levels but percentages show increased in the percent of patients with both cataracts relation to blood sugar levels as well as cataracts with age. From a study of 60 patients aged 45-65 years who suffer from cataracts are less significant association between cataract with blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Clean water needs one of which can be obtained through a dug well. As for things that need to be considered in the use of dug wells that meet health requirements. This is intended to minimize the occurrence of well water contamination caused by contaminants that exist around the dug well. The purpose of conducting this research was to analyze the influence caused by the dintance of the cattle pen with the presence of total Coliform bacteria in the dug wells of Klambir Village. This study used an observational analytic method with a cross sectional design. The study were used 35 samples and it was determined by simple random sampling. The results obtained from the research that from 35 samples examined entirely contain Coliform. In detail can be explained that as much as 22 wells (62.9%) had total coliforms> 50/100 ml and 13 wells (37.1%) had total coliforms ≤ 50/100 ml of water. The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that there was an effect of enclosure distance on total coliform in dug well water.

Abstract

Joint waste management between regions that bordered each other can be one alternative solution of the problem of trash in Indonesia. Some areas have conducted cooperation in waste management, such as Sarbagita and Kartamantul. Dynamic game can be an alternative method in joint waste management between the regions. The purpose of this article is to design joint waste management between regions using the dynamic game theory framework approach. A dynamic game is a mathematical model that represents the conflict situation between the interested parties who want to make the best decision (in this case it is the city/district government) of a series of strategies that are possible by considering the existence of the various uncertainties at such situation. The discussion is done by assuming there are three areas of the bordering regoins and making some waste disposal regulations. Furthermore, the mathematical operations and simplification of the form of equation are executed to adapt to the design objectives. The results of the design in this approach are the invention of two mathematical equations describing the characteristics of dynamics waste stock in the adjoining regoins, and the cost to be incurred by each regions in managing its waste stock.
