Abstract

Background.Choronological age is assessed by the date, month, and year of birth. Several researches suggested that Chronological age may not be able to provide sufficient information regarding on human growth precisely. Chronological age, on the other hand, could not be used to assess  Maturity development rate of a patient, so it is necessary to assess the dental age. Dental age is age assessment method  by measuring human growth and development. Age estimation has important role in health field, Particularly  in dentistry as it will be beneficial in making appropriate diagnosis, Treatment plan, and prognosis. Tooth eruption estimation according to Demirjian Method conducted by assessing growth and development process of tooth using panoramic  radiography. Purpose. Determine the difference between Chronological Age and Dental Age Using Demirjian Method Based on Radiology Analysis of Panoramic Radiography. Method. This study was an observational analytic using Cross-sectional study, all data are observed once at the time. In this study,  the amount of sample reviewed were 30 samples, consisted of 4 – 9 years old children. Panoramic radiography were collected based on target population which fulfill Sample Criteria from reconciled patient of radiology department RSGM Unhas. The results were obtained by estimating the score of  dental age using Demirjian Method. After that, the Dental age and chronological age were analayzed to obtain the mean difference. Result. Based on wilcoxon test, mean value was obtain p:0.011 (p<0.05), this result shows that there is significant difference between chronological age and dental age. Conclusion.Chronological age and dental age can be assessed by reviewing the panoramic radiography using Demirjian Method

Abstract

Composite resin is a widely used aesthetic restoration. The restoration can fail due to secondary caries. Chlorhexidinegluconate 2% is used as a cavity disinfectant to eliminate microorganisms on the prepared cavity and to prevent thesecondary caries. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of chlorhexidine gluconate 2% to the bondstrength of composite resin with self etch system adhesive on dentine. Sixteen specimens of buccal dentine of premolarscrown are divided into 2 different groups. Group I: Clearfil SE Bond self-etch primer was applied for 20 seconds,Clearfil SE Bond bonding was applied for 5 seconds and polymerized for 10 seconds. Composite resin was constructedincrementally and polymerized for 20 seconds. Group II: prior to self etch primer application as in group I,chlorhexidine gluconate 2% was applied for 15 seconds. Shear bond strength was tested using Testing machine andanalyzed with unpaired T test. The highest shear bond strength was obtained by applying chlorhexidine gluconate 2%.The study concludes that chlorhexidine gluconate 2% application to dentine did not affect significantly to the bondstrength composite resin using self etch adhesive systems.

Abstract

Intracoronal bleeding in the tooth pulp due to trauma is one of the causes of tooth discoloration. Anterior toothdiscoloration often cause esthetic problem that affect individual perfomance. Internal bleaching is a non-vitalbleaching method performed after endodontic treatment using strong oxidator agent in pulp chamber. This casereport discusses about internal bleaching treatment with walking bleach technique on tooth 11 after endodontictreatment. Concentration of hidrogen perokxide 35% was applied for 3-7 days, this procedure was repeated untilthe tooth color was gained. The tooth color was accomplished in second visit. As conclusion is internal bleaching astreatment of tooth discoloration due to trauma can provide a good result with good endodontic treatment.

Abstract

Early childhood caries (ECC), also known as milk bottle caries is a syndrome of severe tooth decay, occurs ininfants and children, is an infectious disease that develops rapidly and lead to health problems in children. Thissyndrome can be caused by inappropriate use of bottles. Most cases of untreated ECC to children aged 20 months. At this stage many children need serious treatment, because this will result in trauma to both the children andparents. The most common treatment ECC and other dental diseases have been included in each treatment ofdisease. Efforts to educate families about dental hygiene and practice start a diet, the high rate of recurrence of anyevidence of disease ranging from tooth decay to the failure of the treatment plan resulted in the need for specialattention to this disease. This paper is expected to be a good input for a dentist in the treatment of ECC

Abstract

Haruan is river-water fish usually consumed by South Kalimantan people. Haruan extract contains albumin, Zn, Fe,Cu and unsaturated fatty acid which can act as antiinflammatory substances and accelarate wound healing. The aim ofthis study is to examine effectiveness of haruan extract on lymphocyte count in infammatory phase of wound healingprocess and compare it to ibuprofen. This study used true experimental method with post-test only control group designand simple random sampling. Samples were divided into 5 treatment groups:which were given the extract for 7 sevendays: 25% haruan extract group, 50% haruan extract group, 100% haruan extract group, negative control K(-) usingaquadest, positive control K(+) given ibuprofen suspension with dosage of 20mg/kg weight/day. Lymphocyte cells wereobserved using microscope and counted per field of view. Lymphocyte count reached its peak on day 5. Lymphocytecount means in each group were 4,2 ± 0,566; 1± 0,000; 3,8 ± 2,546; 7,1 ± 0,141; dan 7,5 ± 3,818 respectively. Two way ANOVA and post hoc LSD tests showed that lymphocyte count significantly decreased in 50% and 100% treatmentgroups (p<0,05) and has equal effect with ibuprofen in decreasing lymphocyte count. This study concluded that haruanextract significantly decreased lymphocyte count in wound healing process.

Abstract

Secondary caries is one of cause the importance of commutation ofamalgam restoration. The ; existence of sekunder karies can be detectwith visual method and tactile sensation with sonde, but this notapplicable if the lesion is small or not seen. The difficulty to detect thislesion can be done through bite-wing radiography to support thediagnosis. Rudolphy 1 describe that at large and medium cavity willseen radio-lusen at inspection of radiography, while for small cavity will seen the image of radio-opasitas. Result of prospective study indicatethat grey discolouration have 50% sensitifity and 91% spesifity indetecting secondary caries.
