Yupa: Historical Studies Journal publishes articles for four aspects below. Historiography means the writing of history based on the critical examination of sources, the selection of particular details from the authentic materials in those sources, and the synthesis of those details into a narrative that stands the test of critical examination. Historiography studies cover chronologically various themes, such as local history, social history, cultural history, economic history, political history, military history, intellectual history, environmental history, and other historical studies. Philosophy of history, the study either of the historical process and its development or of the methods used by historians to understand their material. History of education is a study of the past that focuses on educational issues. These include education systems, institutions, theories, themes, and other related phenomena in the past. History education includes studies of how history teaches in school or society, curriculum, educational values in events, figures, and historical heritage, media and sources of historical learning, history teachers, and studies of textbooks.

Abstract

The ethnic Chinese Muslims in Makassar has been there since the year 1606 in conjunction with Islam in Makassar. Dato ri Bandang was the one who initiated the spread of Islam among Chinese people of Makassar. During the new order, ethnic Chinese Muslims in Makassar city had done the intermingling with local communities. The new order had kept many discriminatory elements contains policy against ethnic Chinese in the city of Makassar. This is the sort of policy that directly affects the life of the field of social, cultural, political and religious. Although they are more successful in the field of economics. Even so, ethnic Chinese Muslims in Makassar when it is capable of performing a merging in all areas of social life.

Abstract

Saranjana is a mystical city that is a myth for the people of Pulau Laut, South Kalimantan. Rumours about this mysterious city became increasingly excited because its existence, but not recorded on the map of Indonesia. Therefore it is very interesting to examine from a historical point of view. The purpose of this paper is to uncover the historical side of the occult city suggestion on Pulau Laut. This study using the method of history is a method to test and analyze the critical records and relics of the past. The historical method consists of four stages, namely heuristics (data collection), source criticism, interpretation (interpreting facts) and historiography. The results show exist of Saranjana in a place between fact and myth. In conclusion, there are two hypotheses that the Saranjana is ethnic state Dayak Samihim tribe. Then the second hypothesis, that Saranjana is (only) the dream country of Prince Purabaya in the 18th century AD.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of historical learning model by using problem-based learning and obstacles from implementing problem-based learning model in history learning. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection using observation and interview techniques. The result of the research shows that learning process is more centred on student activity with problem-solving related to history lesson material and obstacles in applying problem-based learning is the understanding and ability of educator in using learning model, complicated, limited time, facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

Conflict is categorized as something always exist in society, people cannot be separated from conflict. Conflict causes stunted progress and development of human thought. Thus, conflicts must be immediately resolved to create a society of peace and harmony. Conflict resolution is a cultural form exists in society. Kerinci people are so familiar with conflict resolution with the term of Mandawah. In the conflict resolution of Mandawah, it is contained in traditional values that are relevant to the life of nowadays’ society. Schools do not only teach learners to master learning, but also to shape the affective aspects. Integration of conflicts resolution values in learning history is needed to improve harmonization in the life of the Kerinci society.

Abstract

Samaun Bakri is one of many figures from Nagari Kurai Taji Pariaman West Sumatra, which enliven the national political stage. His movement in the Dutch Colonial period, began when he attended in Sumatra Thawalib Padang Panjang. The Kuminih movement, fronted by Communist propagandists, has changed its paradigm of thinking from moderate to radical. Sometimes Samaun is often the target of arrest with allegations of infidelity. This paper is compiled based on historical method, consist of; heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The world of Islamic movement and modernization has indeed influenced the way of Samaun thinking. Several times, he was involved in the press, ranging from Persamaan, Sasaran, Penabur, and often wrote harsh criticisms of the Dutch government. After the Silungkang incident, he crossed over to the Partai Nasional Indonesia (PNI). During the Japanese occupation, he was involved in the management of PUTERA and Jawa Hokokai. His political career post-independence immediately dashed, when he served as Deputy Governor of West Java in 1946, KNIP members represent West Java, and became Deputy Resident of Banten in 1946-1948.

Abstract

Local culture-based education has an important role in character building for students. In a scientific heritage, there are values of wisdom that can be applied in everyday life. The values of this wisdom are reflected in the work of an Acehnese scholar Search Abdurrauf as Singkili, later written in several Manuscripts: Mir'atul Thulab Fe Bag-lubang Ma'ritah Ahkamisy Syar'iyah Lil Mulkil Wahhab and Turjumanul Mustafid. Hence, the history-based learning model of Syech Abdurrauf as a Singkili script was developed. This development is expected to improve students' sense of understanding and awareness about gender equality. From the values listed in Syech Abdurrauf Singkili's text, students are expected to be able to know the value of local wisdom, to develop a pattern of understanding of gender equality awareness both within the scope of school and community, and to raise awareness of equality in Islam. Result: n = 28 and (α) = 0,05, post-test value 0,913, T-test 2,279, n = 200> 0,05, post-test 0,430. There is a significant increase in the study of the development of this model, it is expected that with this model of learning history able, develop a gender equality awareness of the students.

Abstract

The historical site can be used as a source of learning history, a model of learning history, media history learning, to enhance literacy history or as historical attractions. The utilization based on their shape can be divided into two, direct utilisation and indirect utilization. Constraints encountered in the utilization of the site can be divided into two, the internal problem and external problems. Internal problems in the form of time limitations, limitations of the learning ability of teachers, and facilities and infrastructure limitations. The problem form of external sites. access limitations, limitations, and limitations of supporting personnel funds.
