Abstract

Native chicken is one of the livestock that is widely maintained in rural areas in Bali, to fulfil meat and eggs as a food consumption and also for religious ceremonies. However, the population of native chicken continues to decline until 4.15% in average every year due to high price of feed and nature behaviour of the chicken that picks food either by mouth or legs causes a lot of food to be wasted. To minimize the amount of wasted food, given the wet form of feed given in accordance with the needs for production. The study was carried out in Tembuku Subdistrict, Bangli Regency, using 90 laying hens which were divided into 3 group of treatments each with 30 chickens and differentiated between wet feed and dry (ordinary) feed. Where P0 is control, P1 is given Bio L Probiotics 3 cc.liter-1 of drinking water and P2: P1 + Herbs 4 cc.liter-1 of drinking water. The results showed that P0B: 56.71% P0K: 57.54%; P1B: 58.9; P1K 59.73% and P2B: 61.08; P2K: 60.15. The highest productivity were found at P2B and P2K. While the FCR achieved by each treatment were P0B: 3.35; P0K; 3.56; P1B: 3.07; P1K: 3.24 and P2B: 2.98; P2K: 3.13. These results indicate that the providing of wet feed produces a lower FCR than dry feed. The providing of Bio L probiotics could increase productivity

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the efficacy of several varieties of maize at various rate of manure under drought condition on the dry land of North Lombok. The experiments were designed using split plot design, with manure rates (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 t.ha-1) as the main plots, and five different maize varieties (P4IS, Gumarang, Lamuru, Sukmaraga and NK212 Hybrid) as subplots. The efficacy of several maize varieties were determined from the weight of dry seeds per plant. Experimental data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5 percent significant levels. The mean of each treatments was further tested using the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) at the same level. The results showed that the highest yield of maize crop was obtained on Lamuru variety at rate of manure of 20 t/ha, ie 85.94 g.plant-1 or 6.14 t.ha-1. The yield of Lamuru variety is similar to that of Sukmaraga, but it is higher compared to P4IS, Gumarang and Hybrid of NK212.The highest yield of maize crop was obtained at rate of manureof 20t.ha-1.

Abstract

Plant rhizosphere has various types of microorganisms, including Arbuscular Mycorrhizae Fungi (AMF). Each ecosystem has different species and densities of AMF. For further use, study the potency of indigenous AMF is necessary. This research was conducted to know the existence and potency of indigenous AMF of soil where physic nuts grow on dry land of Palu Valley at Poboya, Palu, Central Sulawesi. Soil samples were collected, and then observed under microscope. The steps to study the potency of AMF were counting the propagules with Most Probable Number (MPN) method, spora trapping, identifying the types of spore, and single spore culture. The result showed that the number of infective AMF propagules from cultivated soil was 1117 microorganisms/g soil and from of natural soil was 711 microorganisms/g soil; and indigenous AMF from the soil where physic nut grown at Lembah Palu were dominated by Glomus sp.

Abstract

Lettuce and Moringa are recently popular vegetable crops because their demand improves significantly, and their development lead to dry land because its potencial in Indonesia is still high.  The use of dry land should be followed by applying inter cropping technique in order to make plant micro climate becomes more favourable. In addition, low soil fertility and intensive ussage of inorganic fertilizers makes the application of organic fertilizers imperative. The objective of the research is to investigate the type of organic fertilizer giving high yield of lettuce and moringa cultivated using inter cropping technique in dry land. The results showed that the organic fertilizers applied improved the plant growth and yield, and also improved the land equivalent ratio (LER).  The highest LER was showed by apllication of Organox, followed by  Bio Extrim and Biota Plus, and the lowest one showed by without organic fertilizer application.
