Pancasila Education, one of the subjects of character building, is hoped to be able to build the students' moral consciousness to create a high qualified life that is in accordance with Pancasila. Max Scheler is a moral philosopher who offers the material valueethic; offers the values as the basis thought for human action. According to Max Scheler's thought, the basic moral action of human beings hopefully does not stop at the consciousness to seek personal enjoyment (hedonist), and at the consciousness to obey the rules and do the obligations (deontologist), but do moral action based on their consciousness to create positive, high and objective values in human life. This piece of writing is aimed to explain the application of the Max Scheler's value-ethic as a base for Pancasila Education lecture to build students' moral consciousness. The students' moral consciousness is not only based on the moral consciousness to seek personal enjoyment and the obedience to regulations or institutions, but also the consciousness of the existence of a moral obligation to create positive, high and objective values in human life i.e. the high values of Pancasila.

Abstract

This research studies one of the local wisdoms in Toraja society which is longko' or culture of shame. This culture contains values of religious ethics and communal spirit to maintain self-esteem and vigilance in order to be not humiliated/ shamed (kalongkoran). The longko' of Toraja is observed from the ethics perspective of Lawrence Kohlberg to analyze ethical values of the culture. The result of this research indicates that, according to the Kohlberg's theory of moral development stages, Toraja society tends to be at the conventional level and the third stages which is characterized by a social morality where the union with familiar groups becomes the highest value. It is in accordance with communal ties which are very strong in the Toraja society and known as tongkonan. The longko', as an internalization result of understanding varieties which is held steadfastly by the Toraja society, contains not only values of honor, self esteem and shame, but also other positive values such as work ethos and spirit. Kamalamburan (honesty) and karapasan (harmony and peace) are the main values of Toraja society. The Longko' is quite relevant, especially in relation to the national efforts to solve the problem of corruption through the cultural approach.

Abstract

The concept formation is one of the most fundamental probelms of epistemology. It includes 'How do we acquire the concepts that we have?', 'How do we come by ideas we have?' The study wants to describe and analysis Rand's theory of concept formation.Rand's theory of concept formation is based on the axiomatic assumtions-existence, identity, and consciusness. Epistemologically, the concept formation is an abstraction; metaphysically it is an intergration.Definition involved in the process of concept formation. Defining of a concept use of any other concepts. When concepts are intergrated into a wider one, the new concept includes all the characteristics of its constituent units; and when a concept is subdivided into narrower ones, its distinguishing characteristic is taken as their "Conceptual Common Denominator".As a theory, Rand's concept theory is consistenly and cohenrently, built upon some basic assumptions. The weeakness of the theory is laid upon the asumptions as a whole, namely, the believe of truth as an absolute and unchangeable thing
