Abstract

Children with learning difficulties often face challenges in social skills, hindering their ability to adjust and interact within society. The present study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a training program designed to enhance the social skills of individuals with disabilities. The quasi-experimental study involved 20 primary school students with learning difficulties exhibiting deficits in social skills in the United Arab Emirates. To evaluate the level of social skills of the sample children, a social skills assessment scale was employed, which was developed by the researchers. The assessment scale consisted of 24 statements that were organized into three dimensions based on previous research and theoretical frameworks. The results of the present study showed that the training program significantly and positively impacted the social skills of these children. There were statistically significant disparities between the mean ranks of the experimental group and the control group's scores on the social skills assessment scale after program completion. In conclusion, the study recommends integrating the developed training and similar programs into the public and private education curricula, including both government and private schools, to improve the social communication abilities of children with learning difficulties. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-SIED2-011 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between mastery goals, including task-based and self-based competence, and positive emotions, engagement, relationship, meaning, and accomplishment (PERMA), which may affect life satisfaction. Mastery goals, PERMA, and life satisfaction were examined using a relationship study model. The current study involved 260 English education programs, with 81 (31.2%) male students and 179 (68.8%) female students. AMOS 18 was used to conduct a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results of the current study demonstrate that task-based competence influences life satisfaction. In contrast, self-based competence was found not to affect life satisfaction. Analysis of SEM revealed significant influences of task-based competence on PERMA and no significant relationships between self-based competence and PERMA. PERMA partially mediates the influence of task-related competence on life satisfaction. The indirect effects of self-based competence on life satisfaction were observed through PERMA as a complete mediator. The novelty of the current research lies in its focus on mastery goals, the target population of college students, and the mediating role of PERMA. Abstract

Vietnam's economy faces many difficulties and complicated developments. To create an environment with favorable conditions for sustainable development, it is necessary to have innovative business solutions that not only bring profits for businesses but also solve environmental and social problems. In addition, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have made many positive contributions to economic restructuring, creating stable jobs for hundreds of thousands of employees and ensuring social security. Besides, SMEs in Vietnam have faced many difficulties and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the papers' objectives explored critical factors affecting the sustainable development of SMEs in Vietnam. The authors applied two methods, such as qualitative and quantitative, with data obtained from 400 managers of small and medium enterprises and used structural equation modeling and SPSS 20.0, Amos software. The article's findings have the digital transformation factor's most substantial impact on sustainable development. The article's novelty is determined by five factors: market trends, state support policy, social responsibility, quality of human resources, and digital transformation. Abstract

The present study aims to explore the perceptions and usage of Augmented Reality (AR) technology among media students in Palestinian universities. A quantitative approach was adopted, and data was gathered from a web-based survey of 237 media students. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was utilized to gauge participants' perceptions of AR, and descriptive statistics were used for analysis. The findings reveal a generally positive perception of AR as a beneficial tool for skill enhancement, with mean scores ranging from 3.70 to 4.04 indicating strong agreement. The study also found moderate to high AR usage among participants, particularly for translating texts using Google Translate, but noted that usage patterns were more individual-oriented. Additionally, 91.1% of respondents attributed the COVID-19 pandemic to increased technology usage in higher education. The novelty of this study lies in providing insights into the perception and application of AR in higher education within the Palestinian context, an under-researched area. The study sheds light on the potential for integrating AR more formally into curricula, which could foster a more engaging and immersive educational experience. Abstract

The study aimed to assess the relationship between a safe learning environment in Emirati schools and the development of student's creative thinking. Using a descriptive method with stratified random sampling, the researchers selected a sample of 500 male and female teachers. Two questionnaires were employed: one assessing the safe learning environment (20 items) and another measuring creative thinking (20 items). Results indicated a high teacher perception of a safe learning environment, with statistically significant chi-square values for all items. Similarly, teachers perceived a high level of creative thinking development, with significant chi-square values for all items. Gender and experience did not show statistically significant differences in the perception of a safe learning environment. However, teachers with over 10 years of experience demonstrated higher levels of creative thinking development. Notably, a significant correlation was found between a safe learning environment and the development of students' creative thinking in Emirati schools. Abstract

Introduction: The self-management of university learning encompasses a series of aspects that allow students to be conscious and autonomous in their professional training. Objective: In this article, we present the process of creation and validation of a scale to assess essential factors of this phenomenon: self-management of learning, conscious motivation strategies for learning, perception of academic performance, and techniques for deep learning. Method: The design is a cross-sectional quantitative process with the purpose of carrying out validity and reliability analysis of a psychological measurement instrument. The research was conducted with 1373 university students from Chile and Ecuador. Results: The scale consists of 19 items that conform the four factors mentioned and whose results indicate adequate psychometric properties, allowing it to be applied in the Latin American context. Abstract

This study investigates the determinants of English language proficiency among students at Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards. The determinant factors under examination encompass students' attitudes, prior English language knowledge, information-seeking behavior, satisfaction with English language learning, teachers' expertise, teacher readiness, teaching methodologies, familial support, environmental factors, and international exposure. Data were gathered through a survey administered to 469 PIM students, and the analysis employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling. The findings revealed that five significant factors influence PIM students' English proficiency, namely their prior English language knowledge, inclination toward seeking knowledge, teachers' expertise, classroom environment, and practical language usage experiences. Additionally, the research demonstrated a noteworthy impact of students' Grade Point Average (GPA) and the time dedicated to learning English on their CEFR scores. This study contributes to the field by shedding light on the multifaceted factors influencing English language proficiency among PIM students, offering insights that can inform language education strategies and policies. Abstract

Technology and our conceptions of reality have both been significantly impacted by modern physics. However, due to a variety of issues, such as disparities in educational resources, differing emphasis on science education, cultural attitudes, and language obstacles, students in Latin America, including Ecuador, have a limited understanding of modern physics. The present work exposes a pre-test methodology to evaluate students' knowledge and pinpoint their areas of weakness. The analysis of the results indicates that most students received lower grades, while a smaller proportion obtained higher scores. Our findings reveal significant knowledge gaps, misconceptions, and uncertainty among the participants regarding various topics related to the constituent and stability of the nucleus, quantum behavior, nuclear models, radioactive decay, and natural radioactive sources. Additionally, it was statistically demonstrated (Kruskal-Wallis H test) that misconceptions, uncertainties, and knowledge gaps are not significantly related to learning styles. The type of college substantially impacts academics, with private university students typically receiving higher grades. Abstract

Purpose: The study aimed to determine the influence of factors on job satisfaction and the relationship between satisfaction, organizational culture, and the organizational commitment of lecturers at universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Design/Methodology/Approach: This was a quantitative study in which the authors compile theories, analyze and synthesize scales for research concepts, and propose research models. The online survey collected 532 answer sheets from professors and lecturers from universities in Ho Chi Minh City, of which 525 were valid and included in SmartPLS 3 to evaluate the validity and reliability of the scale and to analyze the relationship among the concepts in the suggested model. Findings: The results show that several factors significantly impact employee satisfaction in the field of education, such as job promotion, leadership or supervision, working environment, income, and the job itself. In addition, both satisfaction and organizational culture impact organizational commitment. The study's findings have implications for educational institutions, lecturers, policymakers, researchers, and funding agencies. They highlight the importance of factors like leadership development and organizational culture in enhancing job satisfaction and commitment among lecturers, offering valuable insights for improving the educational environment in Ho Chi Minh City and beyond. Originality: The results aligned with previous studies presented in the literature section. Abstract

Aim: The aim of the paper is to characterize how the time for training employees in individual thematic areas is related to the outcomes and changes, facilitated by individual educational activities. Methods: The questionnaire method and interviewing methods were applied for obtaining data from respondents. The starting-point of empirical research was the knowledge and needs of the company, which perceives education as an investment. The respondent sample included 370 lectors/instructors and managers from three countries. The research was conducted in selected companies of section C − Manufacturing, Statistical Classification of Economic Activities. Basic variables include the number of training hours and results of the changes after training activities. Three groups of employee education are analysed: general training, performance-oriented training and digital training. Findings: Our division of educational activities into three groups enables the fulfilment of the basic European Commission targets for the 2021−2027 programme. Recommendations: Invest in developing new skills through future corporate training in the context of innovative transformation of the economy for a smarter Europe. Create conditions for better utilisation of human potential by eliminating the discrepancy between offered and required skills.
