Abstract

This paper aims to determine and estimate the factors in the value chain that affect the efficiency of state-owned commercial banks in Vietnam. The study employs a combination of qualitative techniques, such as conducting interviews with top executives, financial managers, chief accountants, and employee surveys, along with quantitative methods like ordinary least squares analysis. The outcomes reveal four critical segments within the value chain – the retail department, operation department, back office, and call center – all of which significantly influence the efficiency of the banks. Additionally, drawing upon value chain theory and Porter's model (1985), the author underscores the significance of implementing a robust value chain strategy. Abstract

This article presents the results of a systematic literature review followed by a meta-analysis of studies on the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in the teaching and learning of Natural Sciences and Biology, among primary and secondary school students. The variables considered were the effects on student learning and motivation, as well as other variables like students understanding and students’ perception of the cognitive load. The teaching contexts and strategies used in association with AR were also considered. The PRISMA methodology was used in articles published between 2010 and 2023, in EBSCO, Science Direct, Scopus, Springer Link, Taylor & Francis and Web of Science databases. Seven hundred and twenty-one articles (721) were found, which, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were reduced to 15. The results showed that, in most studies, AR associated with certain teaching strategies and using a quasi-experimental research methodology produced better results in learning and student motivation and other variables such as student understanding and memorization (from Bloom's taxonomy), and perception of cognitive load. The overall analysis of the data allowed us to observe a strong effect size value (d = 1.13 [0.39;1.86]) in favour of the experimental group regarding learning and a moderate effect on motivation when using AR (d = 0.52 [0.30;0.74]). The same occurred with other variables studied where students obtained better results, which translated into a small or medium effect size. Abstract

In the face of intensifying market competition, the significance of retail marketing strategies and tactics cannot be understated, as they are pivotal in enhancing customers’ satisfaction, fostering loyalty in customers, and ultimately elevating the likelihood of repurchase intentions. This research strives to discern the distinct attributes of customers and gauge their perceptions of the marketing strategies employed by Hypermarket Companies. Additionally, it examines the interplay between customer satisfaction, loyalty, and the consequent cultivation of repurchase intentions. Furthermore, the study explores the foundational retail marketing strategies that underpin the establishment of customer loyalty. The analytical approach encompasses Confirmatory Factor Analysis, SEM-PLS, and Biplot techniques. The findings underscore a customer profile primarily comprising males within the 18–29 age bracket, married, childless, holding undergraduate degrees, enjoying middle-income status, and engaged as private sector employees. Notably, the paramount driver shaping loyalty is the quality of retail service. It is intriguing to note that while the retail mix strategy within Bandung's hypermarkets is predicted to wield no direct influence on loyalty, marketing communication emerges as a potent determinant significantly impacting repurchase intentions. This study contributes to understanding customer behavior and loyalty in hypermarkets. It sheds light on the critical role of service quality in building loyalty. Abstract

In the digital world, borders between countries are fading, and many people keep making more and more online purchases, often from offshore vendors. Cross-border e-commerce is a game-changer for international trade but poses serious challenges for traditional customs procedures. As the number of parcels continues to grow rapidly, customs authorities around the world strive to balance between effective revenue collection, trade facilitation, and proper safety controls. At the EU level, significant revenue losses and competition distortion have led to changes in VAT rules with a key policy objective to fight tax fraud in e-commerce and reduce the administrative burden of VAT collection. The VAT e-commerce package that came into force on July 1, 2021, includes measures on imports of low-value goods from third countries. The adopted solution imposes liability on digital platforms that play a crucial role in the rise of B2C internet sales. This article provides an overview of e-commerce global trends and challenges, international organizations’ initiatives, emerging technology pilots, as well as best practices. It also offers a critical description of the new EU VAT provisions that have a severe effect on customs. Abstract

In recent decades, attention to environmental resource management has increased worldwide. Circular economy (CE) is a concept that is increasingly being considered as a solution to this range of challenges. Therefore, it is important to monitor the development of CE. This research is an attempt to contribute to the CE surveillance literature by providing a framework for comparing the positions of states and their classifications. The main goal of the article is to assess the level of circular economy development in EU countries according to the chosen methodology. The indicators used in this study are sourced from the European Commission Monitoring Framework database, which includes data from 27 European Union (EU) countries over the time frame from 2016 to 2020. The analysis was carried out using Multi-Criteria Decision Methods (MCDM), such as Simple Additive Weighing (SAW), and the objective method of estimating weights in accordance with proportional differences (APROD), which helped to assess the state of CE. The results showed that EU countries can be divided into three groups based on the level of performance of the CE, and their level of development in relation to the circular economy is different. The level of circular economy development in most EU countries is low. Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Italy demonstrated the best positions. Abstract

Generation Z faces diverse challenges in education amidst the swift evolution of technology. This study investigates the factors shaping Generation Z's acceptance and adoption of AI and Cloud-based applications in Oman's higher education sector. Despite limited attention to this area in Oman and the Gulf Cooperative Council countries (GCC), this research addresses the gap by employing the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework, recognized for its effectiveness in understanding technology adoption. Through a quantitative approach, Generation Z students in Omani higher education institutions were surveyed, and SmartPLS was utilized for analysis. Results indicate a significant positive relationship between all UTAUT antecedent factors, with Performance Expectancy being non-significant. This study offers novel insights into global understandings of Generation Z's learning trends with AI and Cloud-based applications in higher education, aiming to enhance pedagogical approaches. Notably, it pioneers such efforts within the GCC context. Recommendations for similar research in other GCC countries are provided to enrich regional perspectives. Abstract

E-commerce live streaming has experienced a significant and rapid increase in recent years, establishing itself as a vital catalyst for the growth of the e-commerce business. This research delves into the influence of e-commerce live streaming attributes, namely, authenticity, interactivity, and entertainment, on consumers' purchase intentions. It is based on the Stimulus‒Organism‒Response (SOR) theory and focuses on customer flow experience and hedonic shopping value. To evaluate the study model, the authors gathered survey data from 360 live streaming e-commerce customers and used structural equation modeling. The results indicate that client purchase intentions in e-commerce live streaming are positively influenced by authenticity, interactivity, and entertainment. Authenticity, entertainment, and interaction all contribute to enhancing consumers' flow experience in e-commerce live streaming, with interactivity being the most influential factor. The phenomenon of flow experience has a beneficial impact on the purchasing intentions of clients engaged in e-commerce live streaming. The flow experience serves as an intermediary between the characteristics of e-commerce live streaming and consumers' intentions to make purchases. Hedonic shopping value affects the relationship between the flow experience and the customer's intention to make a purchase. Put simply, when customers have a strong perception of the pleasure they derive from shopping, their intention to make purchases becomes more profound when they are influenced by the state of flow. This study not only contributes to the body of knowledge regarding the correlation between the attributes of e-commerce live streaming and consumer receptiveness, but it also provides businesses and platforms that utilize e-commerce live streaming with actionable recommendations. Abstract

This study focuses on the problem of diagnosing electromechanical equipment and aims to prevent its failures by timely detecting hidden signs of defects in diagnostic signals. This paper considers the possibility of improving systems whose equipment monitoring relies on measuring and analyzing the diagnostic signal of vibration or motor current. Fourier series decomposition for processing complex signals is not always effective because the contribution of harmonics reflecting the specific effect of the defect is less than that of non-specific harmonics and is comparable to the influence of noise. It has been proposed to apply the singular spectral analysis method for visualizing and analyzing the regularities of defect manifestations. It is reasonable to supplement the classical algorithm of this method by comparing the analyzed eigenvalue spectrum corresponding to the operating condition. Detection of hidden defects for the first time involves analyzing initial data projections in the directions of the singular basis that reflect deviations under the defect influence. Numerical and field experiments confirm the possibility of analyzing comparatively weak generations essential for equipment condition identification. The experiments demonstrate the opportunity for timely defect detection due to preprocessing when the probability of defect detection using the frequency method is close to zero. Abstract

The linkage between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic development has been demonstrated in economic literature. In this study, we analyze the impact of FDI on economic development, considering the role of institutional quality in 63 provinces/cities in Vietnam in the period 2005–2022. Applying various regression methods, such as Pooled OLS, FEM, REM, GMM, and PVAR, the results confirm that foreign direct investment and institutional quality have a positive impact on economic development. Findings also provide evidence that institutional quality is an important factor in attracting FDI, determining both the quality and quantity of inflows from other countries into Vietnam. Abstract

Objectives: The utilization of technology within an organization is believed to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency. To reap the benefits of technology, MSMEs must adopt digital technology innovation. Individuals and its capabilities within the organization play a significant role in digital technology innovation adoption. This study aims to examine the nexus between learning agility, transformational leadership, and adoption to digital technology innovations. Methods: This study examines the hypotheses involving 203 employees of MSMEs utilizing PLS-SEM. Results: PLS-SEM results show that learning agility and transformational leadership affect digital technology innovation adoption. Accordingly, transformational leadership mediates the connection between learning agility and the adoption of digital technology innovations. Novelty:This research has implications for organizations in adopting digital innovation, where organizations can optimize individual learning agility and utilize transformational leadership styles to persuade employees to adopt digital technology innovation. Furthermore, this research lies in its comprehensive examination of how transformational leadership can amplify the effects of individual learning agility, thereby fostering a more conducive environment for digital innovation within MSMEs.
