Acta Aquatica: Aquatic Sciences Journal is a scientific open access journal in the field of aquatic sciences, published periodically (April and October) by the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Malikussaleh (Malikussaleh University) in cooperation with Marine Center Universitas Malikussaleh, Department of Aquaculture Universitas Malikussaleh and Department of Marine Science Universitas Malikussaleh. Acta aquatica are publish original research, overviews and reviews relating to aquatic environments (wetlands, freshwater and marine waters) and the border limits of these environmental systems and the impacts of human activities on the environmental systems. Acta Aquatica has a related studies in aquatic bioecology, aquaculture, hydrology, biodiversity of aquatic biosphere, oceanology, exploitation and exploration technology of aquatic resources, fisheries product technology, aquatic microbiology, aquatic modeling, aquatic geographic information systems, and socio-economic of aquatic resources.

Abstract

Excessive and periodic use of insecticides has a negative impact on aquatic areas and the biota in them. Pesticides that accumulate in the aquatic environment affect the life non target organisms such as fish. In addition, pesticides can cause damage to the gills, liver, intestines and spleen. This organ plays an important role in the immune system. Thus, an alternative is needed to overcome this problem, one of which is the addition of activated charcoal in the feed. The aims of study to determine the effect of the use of activated charcoal in feed on the histopathological description of the spleen of tilapia exposed to organophosphate pesticides. The study was conducted experimentally by applying 4 treatments and 2 replications as the treatments used included T1 (0% activated charcoal); T2 (1% activated charcoal); T3 (2% activated charcoal); T4 (3% activated charcoal). The test fish used were tilapia measuring 7 ± 0,4 cm long with a stocking density of 30 fish/container. Parameters observed were histopathological description of tilapia spleen at pre exposure, post exposure and after administration of activated charcoal. The results of observations of tissue damage were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and presented in the form of images. The results showed that the addition of 2% activated charcoal (T3) in the feed was able to reduce damage to the spleen due to exposure to organophosphate insecticides. Abstract

Cattle hoof meal was processed by autoclaving, fermentation, wood ash fermentation, soda ash treatment and raw-unprocessed hoof. This was studied on Clarias gariepinus juveniles 14.22±0.23g stocked at 15 fish per tank in replicate. Treated samples were used in compounding six isonitrogenous diets of a reference diet 70%: test diet 30% and fed at 3% body weight. Significant difference (P<0.05) was observed among dietary treatments. Weight gain, specific growth rate feed conversion ratio percentage weight gain in soda ash diet was enhanced followed by raw hoof diet while wood ash treated diet showed the least response on fish growth. Fish carcass quality was enhanced with raw hoof treated diets over other diets. Utilization of soda ash treated hoof meal can be used in enhancing growth of C. gariepinus.Keywords: Fishmeal, Cattle-hoof-meal, haematology, keratin.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to investigate the yellowfin tuna marketing chain in PPP Pondok Dadap Sendang Biru. Additionally, this study determined the margin and price share earned by yellowfin tuna fisherman. This research employed a survey strategy that included direct observation and interviews. The data used were original sources collected during October and November 2021. The respondents were chosen using the snowball sampling technique, which is a technique for identifying informants or respondents who possess a wealth of information on the research being conducted. There were 37 respondents. According to the study's findings, there are three distinct channels for yellowfin tuna marketing at PPP Pondok Dadap Sendang Biru. In chain 2, retailers earned the largest overall margin of Rp. 8,864/Kg, or 29 percent. In channel 3, retailers earned the largest overall margin of Rp. 12,000/Kg, or 34%. The biggest Fisherman's share, at 62 percent, is in the type 2 marketing chain.Keywords: fishermans share; marketing chain; margin; tuna

Abstract

Purpose the research to know influence giving leaf durian infused to anesthesia process gurami fish with weight 100-150 gr use predetermined dosage by upper threshold test and lower threshold test. Then, use formula EC-100 (Effektivity Consentrastion) to know fainting time fish and conscious time fish. On threshold test use among others concentrate 1000ppm, 2500ppm, 5000ppm and 7500ppm. That at concentration 7500ppm is upper threshold because gurami fish die by soaking leaf Durian infused for 24 hours while at concentration 5000pm is lower threshold because gurami fish not die by soaking leaf Durian infused for 48 hours. Next to search concentration row with use formula EC-100 and than available concentrate 5400ppm, 5900ppm, 6400ppm, 6900ppm and 7400ppm. The concentration be used to research treatment, P1:5400ppm, P2:5900ppm, P3:6400ppm, P4:6900ppm and P5:7400ppm. The Method of this research is a complete random design (RAL) use five treatments and three replications. The main parameter observed lamely fainting time fish and conscious time fish.  The result fainting time fish (minute) on P1: 200, 67 P2: 198,33 P3: 196 P4: 193 and P5: 186,67 while results conscious time fish (minute) on P1: 22 P2: 22,67 P3: 23,33 P4: 28,33 and P5: 30,33. Next statistic test use method ANOVA and BNT test with level 5% indicate significantly different, and 1 % indicate very differently real. The obtainable conclusion that research use leaf durian infusum to anesthesia process gurami fish very differently real to fainting time and conscious time. The best treatment on P5(7400ppm) because gurami fish fast to fainting time and long a for conscious time.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding activated charcoal from tuna bones on the growth of gouramy. This research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries, Abulyatama University, Aceh. The test fish used were gouramy seeds with a size of 2-3 g and 5-6 cm. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design, consisting of four treatments and three replications, including A (control; without the addition of activated charcoal), B (addition of 1% activated charcoal in feed), C (addition of 2% activated charcoal in feed), and D (addition of 3% activated charcoal in feed) for 60 days of the rearing period. Fish are kept in an aquarium with a size of 60 x 40 x 40 cm as many as 10 fish per container with a water level of 30 cm. During the maintenance period, fish were fed twice a day at satiation. Parameters measured included survival, absolute weight and length growth, daily growth rate (LPH), and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). if significantly different, continue further testing using Duncan. The results showed that the addition of 2% tuna bone activated charcoal in feed affected growth performance including in absolute weight and length growth, SGR, and gave the best value on FCR and SR of 8.98 ± 0.20 g; 3.36±0.13cm; 2.60±0.11; 1.63; 100±0.00%.Keywords: activated charcoal; Osphronemus gouramy; growth; fish bone

Abstract

Wairuhu River is disembogued on the sill of Poka-Galala, Ambon Bay. The estuary is affected by the coastal reclamation which led to the fester sedimentation. It triggers the problem of altering the shoreline and the dynamics of water movement, as well as the surrounding ecosystem. The modeling approach was applied to reconstruct the alterations around the estuary. The study aimed to estimate the changes on the shoreline, current patterns, and sediment transport patterns (suspended sediment), and to describe marine resources around the estuary of Wairuhu. MIKE 3 FM was utilized to reconstruct the pattern of flow and sediment transport changes, and coordinates plottings from satellite data were used to measure the coastline. The model was validated by using the data of tide and surface flow. The results showed the alteration pattern of the shoreline around the Wairuhu estuary occurred as a result of coastal reclamation. The flow validation (mooring and model) using RMSE was 0.38 which meant there was no difference between the model and mooring. By the model, the flow pattern that passed through the APG was following the tidal pattern. The changes in the tidal platform also occurred on the sediment transport pattern that formed the total distribution pattern of SSC (suspended sediment concentration). Several classes of macroflora and macrofauna were uncovered, such as Malacostraca, Echinoidea, Bivalvia, Asteroidea, Ophiuroidea, and Gastropoda.Keywords: Modeling; Poka-Galala sill; Sedimentation; Wairuhu River

Abstract

Segara Anakan Lagoon is a unique and distinctive area where most of the ecosystem is dominated by mangrove ecosystems. Some fauna make the ecosystem as a place for feeding ground, nursery ground and spawning ground for example macrozoobenthos. Its sessile nature makes the biota used as a bioindicator of an area. The Segara Anakan mangrove forest is currently under pressure due to the process of sedimentation and conversion of functions by residents. Therefore, this study aims to determine the interaction between the abundance of macrozoobenthos with environmental conditions. The research was carried out in July-September 2021 at the Segara Anakan Lagoon, Cilacap. The sampling method used is the Sample Survey Method with three stations determined purposively by describing different habitat conditions. Sampling was carried out on a monthly and the data obtained were analyzed by PCA. The results showed that the highest abundance of macrobenthos was found in the western part of the Segara Anakan mangrove forest. The value of macrozoobenthos abundance is influenced by TSS related to food availability. Abstract

The research was conducted in 11-25 July 2020 at Water Quality and Fish Nutrition Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Malikussaleh. The research design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non factorial with 4 treatments and 3 replications. With treatment A: culture of Thalassiosira sp with 15 ppm silicate fertilizer, treatment B: culture of Thalassiosira sp with 17 ppm silicate fertilizer, treatment C: culture of Thalassiosira sp with 19 ppm silicate fertilizer, treatment D: culture of Thalassiosira sp with 21 ppm silicate fertilizer. The result showed that the effect of silicate fertilizer with different dosage gave a different significant to cells Thalassiosira sp density and significantly different to cells Thalassiosira sp peak populasion. The highest average cell density value was found in treatment A (15 ppm) of 419,10 x 104 cells/ml, then treatment B (17 ppm) of 256,67 x 104 cells/ml, followed by treatment C (19 ppm) of 216,29 x 104 cells/ml and treatment D (21 ppm) of 102,90 x 104 cells/ml. The highest cell populasion peak is found in treatment A (15 ppm) of 689,67 x 104 cells/ml, then treatment B (17 ppm) of 389,33 x 104 cells/ml, followed by treatment C (19 ppm) of 388 x 104 cells/ml and treatment D (21 ppm) of 156 x 104 cells/ml. the water quality of the study in standard condision is pH 6,9-8, salinity 32 ppt, light intensity 800-2500 lux, and temperature 25-290C.Keywords: Density; Thalassiosira; silicate

Abstract

Betta fish is one of the most popular freshwater ornamental fish. This ornamental fish is very popular among people of various ages because it is easy to maintain. However, fans of these ornamental fish prefer male fish over females because male fish have aesthetic values and better and attractive colors and have higher profits. The experiment aims to determine the effect of yellow pumpkin seed extract on the successful of male betta fish larvae, as well as giving the best dose. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The immersion doses used were control A, treatment B with a dose of 40 mg/L, treatment C with a dose of 80 mg/L and treatment D with a dose of 120 mg/L. Maintenance period for 30 days. The results showed that soaking using yellow pumpkin seed extract with different concentrations had a very significant effect on the percentage of males. The percentage of male betta fish ranged from 40.00-90.00%, the percentage of female betta fish ranged from 5.00-45.00%, and the percentage of intersex betta fish ranged from 5.00-15.00%. The best concentration of yellow pumpkin seed extract was 120 mg/L with the percentage of male betta fish 90.00% in treatment D.Keywords: Betta splendens Larvae; Immersion; Maleization; Pumpkin Seed Extract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving different types of phytoplankton to the survival, abundance of bacteria and water quality of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). This research was carried out from October to November 2020 at the Laboratory of the Brackish Water Cultivation Center (BBAP) Ujung Batee, Aceh Besar. The larvae of the tested shrimp used were shrimp at Nauplius stage 5-6. The method used was a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Provision of phytoplankton Thalassiosira sp and artificial feed (treatment A), Chaetoceros sp and artificial feed (treatment B), Skeletonema costatum (Treatment C), a combination of phytoplankton Thallasiosira sp, Chaetoceros sp, Skeletonema costatum and artificial feed (treatment D) and artificial feed alone (treatment E). The test larvae were placed in a container with a density of seed stocking for each container was 100 fish/liter with a maintenance period of up to Post larval stage 1 (PL 1). The frequency of giving phytoplankton was done 2 times a day, namely at 09.00 am and 15.00 pm. While the frequency of artificial feed was 6 times, namely at 07.00 WIB in the morning, 11.00 WIB, 16.00 WIB in the afternoon, 21.00 WIB at night, 01.00 WIB in the morning and 04.00 WIB in the morning. The results obtained showed that the treatment with phytoplankton had a significant effect on the survival of vaname shrimp larvae. Therefore, it can be concluded that the highest survival rate is in treatment D.Keywords: phytoplankton; survival; vaname; water quality
