Abstract

One of the cutting-edge technologies implementations can be seen on interactive multimedia that usually use in learning systems. School and informal education institutions start to use this system as their main media to deliver courses. For instance, Teaching Factory Manufacturing of Electronics (TFME) in Politeknik Negeri Batam. This study aims to generate interactive media that run on websites and to observe the experience value while using interactive media of TFME. ADDIE is utilized as a design method of system. ADDIE stands for analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Furthermore, during the research, qualitative method is used to analyze user experience questionnaire (UEQ) which has six scales, namely novelty, perspicuity, dependability, efficiency, attractiveness, and stimulation. The result of study shows that product can be employed as interactive multimedia for students well as UEQ’s scale has average > 0.8. It can be detailed in novelty (1.03), perspicuity (1.09), dependability (1.18), efficiency (1.15), attractiveness (1.23), and stimulation (1.20).

Abstract

This appliance is a micro-scale solar power plant intended for a temporary power source in areas affected by natural disasters in Indonesia that is portable, and is equipped with basic equipment such as a charger port and LED lights. The material used for the PV is aluminium with ceramic cooling which is designed in the form of a suitcase so that it is robust, water and fire resistant.

Abstract

This research was conducted to increase the reliability of UVC lamp irradiation in killing viruses. Since it was first discovered in November 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread all around us and claimed many lives. Various precautions have been taken by the government and individuals. One of the preventions that can be done is to sterilize the room or object surface by using UV light. To kill the virus, type C ultraviolet (UV) light can be used. With a dose of 220J/m² it produces a reduction in the SARS-CoV-2 or covid-19 virus in the air or a surface. The problem that arises is, the UVC lamp used is only limited to on-off with an erratic duration. This tool is expected to be able to perform calculations automatically to determine the duration of the irradiation just by entering the room area information. For user safety when using UVC rays, this tool will also be equipped with a remote control and presence sensor.

Abstract

The tinning process is the process of coating a thin sheet of wrought iron or steel with tin and the resulting product is known as tinplate. The tinning process at PT. Excelitas Technologies Batam is done by clamping the lamp using your finger and then dipping it into flux and molten tin repeatedly until the lamp pin is evenly coated with tin which is done manually and is very dangerous for workers. Therefore, we need a Semi Automation System for the PLC-based Lamp Tinning Process. The method used is the use of a timer in the PLC-based flux dyeing and tining process. The tool testing process is carried out on 10 pcs lamp pins which are immersed 2 times in the flux and tinning process. The result of this research is that the cycle time loading / unloading of the lamp pin tinning process is reduced from 14.4 seconds to 11 seconds.

Abstract

Water quality has an important role in the field of aquaculture. One of the factors that determine water quality is the level of TDS (Total Disolved Solid). Therefore, a TDS meter that has precise accuracy is needed to be able to accurately measure the quality of various types of water. In this study developed a prototype capable of measuring TDS levels in water. This prototype consists of a TDS sensor device, Arduino UNO and an LCD to display the results of the measured water quality readings. So that the accuracy read by the prototype is able to match the commercial TDS meter, the researchers used a linear regression algorithm to be included in the Arduino TDS program. The results of the experiment show that the accuracy of the TDS prototype which was originally 77% increased to 98.3%, is almost close to precision with commercial TDS meters in general.

Abstract

Solders are essential for the construction of many engineering materials. The use of soldering in electronic packaging has become increasingly critical in today's world. In the electronic manufacturing industry, alternative soldering materials based on tin metal have developed gradually over the last two decades. Manufacturing companies are primarily concerned about removing lead from electronic manufacturing and waste recycling by switching to the lead-free solder. Environmental and human health are adversely affected by exposure to high lead levels in consumer products. The manufacturing industry has switched to lead-free soldering to support their social responsibility initiatives. The three categories of lead-free solder are classified according to temperature range: high-temperature solder, medium-temperature solder, and low-temperature solder. This research is conducted based on the approach of study literature, which is obtained from some papers that generally explain lead-free solder. To provide additional knowledge which is expected to add new insights about the importance of lead-free usage and its behavior.

Abstract

Generally, in the industry many use CNC (Computer Numerically Control) machines that can process heavy metal work such as carbon steel. It's just that its use requires a very large cost. To overcome this, it is necessary to design a CNC router type machine for aluminum and carbon steel metalworking which will be operated at PT. XYZ, in order to increase production efficiency with relatively little cost. Currently, the company has a CNC router type that is only capable of processing resin, Bakelite, durostone and recocel materials, and for working on aluminum and carbon steel materials still used conventional milling machine. In this research, the design and manufacture of a 3 axis CNC router machine that can process AISI 1046 carbon steel metal material and can be produced by yourself is carried out. The method used is to design the structure of the machine, and to select a stepper motor as the driving force for the x, y and z axes. The results of this study obtained a 3 axis CNC router machine with electronic components that have been determined, so that the design torque of the stepper motor is 2.8 Nm. The CNC router machine that has been designed is capable of working on AISI 1046 carbon steel metal. In the experimental process the depth of food is using 0.2 - 1 mm/turn with a feedrate of 200 mm/minute. The measurement results of the test object from the designed CNC router machining process do not exceed 0.2 mm. And the measurement results of the test object have met the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) tolerance standard with the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) measurement method.

Abstract

As the effect of cutting-edge technology, video can be used as educational media. Video education itself can be utilized for certain purposes; for example, to deliver information about the dangers of plastic waste in Batam. This study aims to analyze the video’s effectiveness that consists of the information about how to alter plastic waste into sustainable energy. A descriptive quantitative method has been applied in order to collect the data. It is about 150 respondents involved. Those respondents who are living in Batam. The result of this research is the video about how to change plastic waste into sustainable energy can deliver a concrete information. It also able to motivate the audience to be more aware about managing plastic waste. The video effect the audience to manage their plastic waste wisely. It can be seen for about 39% and 56, 22% of respondents highly agree and agree respectively about the effect of the video.

Abstract

BMN has meaning of all assets acquired from APBN expenses or other legal acquisitions. Politeknik Negeri Batam is required to manage, use and maintain in order to get benefit from these assets. Utilization of technology is an absolute solution in this management. The current management system works conventionally whereby an inventory number is printed on a label in each item. A difficulty found when it uses to track and check for inventory during daily usage or maintenance. A BMN QR code-based system is proposed which consists of two applications, namely web and mobile. The application was developed using an iterative prototyping method in order to get speed and accuracy according to user needs. The mobile application uses to quickly access goods data by scanning the item code, while a web application with a QR Code generator used to manage item data and create a QR Code based on the code item. Mobile applications were developed using the Ionic Framework, while web applications were built with AngularJS. The application testing results show that all defined functionalities can function and meet user needs.

Abstract

Markers in augmented reality is an important component for the emergence of an augmented reality object. The function of the marker is to mark the location of an augmented reality object. Currently, there are two types of markers used in the development of augmented reality, namely marker-based tracking and markerless-based tracking. Marker-based tracking has a marker with a pattern on a printed media. Meanwhile, Markerless-based tracking has a point distribution pattern based on a flat surface. Unfortunately, several previous studies that developed AR applications did not have information on the effectiveness and accuracy between the two methods. It is very important to measure the accuracy of the appearance of AR objects to determine the appearance of AR objects, failing to choose the marker used will cause instability in the appearance of AR objects. This study tested the two markers which is distance, height and angle as a parameter. The results of the test stated that markerless tracking was superior to distances of 150 cm with an accuracy rate of 93% while marker-based tracking was only 83.3%.
