Abstract

This study aims to develop a piezoelectric-based Hand-Pressed Generator as a green technology learning medium to support renewable energy competencies in vocational education. The research employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The prototype was designed to convert mechanical energy from hand pressure into electrical energy using piezoelectric sensors integrated with rectifier circuits, a boost converter, and a microcontroller-based monitoring system. Functional testing was conducted by applying different pressure frequencies (30, 60, 90, and 120 presses per minute) to analyze the generated output voltage. The results indicate that the prototype successfully produced electrical output ranging from 0.7 VDC to 3.6 VDC, demonstrating a positive relationship between pressure frequency and generated voltage. Validation by subject-matter and media experts showed feasibility scores of 86.5% and 84.5%, respectively, while user feasibility testing among electrical engineering students reached 88.25%, indicating that the prototype is categorized as very feasible for learning. The findings suggest that the developed Hand-Pressed Generator can serve as an effective instructional medium for demonstrating micro-scale energy harvesting concepts and supporting green technology education in vocational learning environments.

Abstract

Precision fertilization is crucial for enhancing nutrient use efficiency and maintaining optimal soil conditions in horticultural crop cultivation. While IoT-based agricultural automation has been extensively researched, most studies focus on soil moisture-based irrigation, whereas the use of soil pH as a real-time control parameter in automated fertilization systems with remote monitoring remains limited. This limitation hinders accurate nutrient management and timely corrective actions in horticultural production. Therefore, this study aims to design and implement an Arduino-based automated fertilization system integrated with soil pH sensors and IoT technology. The proposed system continuously monitors soil acidity levels and automatically regulates liquid fertilizer application based on predefined pH thresholds. Testing results demonstrate that the soil pH sensor effectively measures acidity levels within the 5.32–6.50 pH range. The system successfully activates fertilizer application when pH values fall below the set threshold, delivering a volume of 150–200 mL per 60-second cycle. The findings indicate that integrating pH-based decision-making with IoT-based monitoring has the potential to support precision fertilization in horticultural cultivation

Abstract

Shipboard electrical systems operate as isolated microgrids, with synchronous generators serving as key components for maintaining power continuity, voltage and frequency stability, and preventing blackouts. However, the evolution toward AC/DC hybrid architectures, energy storage integration, intelligent Power Management Systems (PMS), and data-driven protection has altered the technical requirements for generator operation. This article presents a critical literature review—conducted according to the PRISMA workflow—on synchronous generator operation in modern shipboard electrical systems. A structured search was performed across IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, MDPI, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar. The review compares strategies for voltage regulation, governor- and droop-based frequency control, synchronization and parallel operation, protection coordination, dynamic stability, and PMS functions. Mathematical formulations—such as the swing equation, power-angle relationship, active and reactive power control, droop characteristics, and excitation response—are also discussed to underpin the analysis. Synthesis of the findings indicates that the reliability of shipboard generators cannot be assessed solely through steady-state parameters; rather, it requires analysis of the interactions between excitation systems, governors, synchronization conditions, protection schemes, PMS optimization, transient stability, and maintenance practices. Research gaps identified include the experimental validation of AI-based excitation control, cyber-resilient PMS, generator protection in AC/DC hybrid grids, and digital twin-based diagnostics. This article proposes a comparative technical framework for analyzing synchronous generators within integrated shipboard electrical architectures

Abstract

This study presents an IoT-based battery monitoring system and analyzes the effect of the VESC motor current limit on battery current and energy consumption. The research focuses on an electric vehicle prototype developed by the Electric Car Research Center (ECRC) at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The system integrates an ESP32-S3, PZEM-017 sensor, Neo-7M GPS, and Firebase database for real-time monitoring. Experiments were conducted at five current limits 10-30 A with three replications. Results show that increasing the current limit from 10 A to 30 A increased average battery current from 1.30 A to 3.53 A (F(4,10) = 285.47, p < 0.001, R² = 0.991), energy consumption from 6.54 Wh to 12.90 Wh (F(4,10) = 298.66, p < 0.001, R² = 0.992), and torque from 3.60 Nm to 5.43 Nm (F(4,10) = 142.35, p < 0.001, R² = 0.983), but decreased energy efficiency from 152.90 to 77.52 km/kWh. The expanded uncertainties for all measurements remained below 1.5%, confirming high data precision. These findings quantify the performance-efficiency trade-off, providing a basis for optimizing current limit settings in energy-efficient electric vehicles.
