Jurnal Dinamika Vokasional Teknik Mesin (JDVTM) is published by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Yogyakarta. The journal is published twice a year in April and October. Each publication contains articles comprising high quality theoretical and empirical original research papers, review papers, and literature reviews. The scope of study of this journal includes mechanical engineering education, technology and vocational education, learning and curriculum development, learning method development, and learning media. All of the fields study, particularly in mechanical engineering vocational and education. The articles submitted should be attended to the particular topics above.

Abstract

The aerofoils are used to get the lifting force on the design of plane's wings. The lifting force is caused by difference air velocity on upper and lower aerofoil which the magnitude depend on attack angle of aerofoil and air velocity exist surrounding. This experiment aims to show the force vector (pressure distribute) on the aerofoil. The aerofoil is attached by air with konstant velocity. The research procedure is done by change the attack angle of aerofoil on five formation. The surface of aerofoil is connected with pressure gage which disperse at 11 point of measurement. The result shows that magnitude of force vector is depended on attack angle of aerofoil. Increasing angle of aerofoil until boundary angle will be followed by increasing air velocity on the point of measurement and finally increase force vector. Upper boundary angle will be followed by decreasing air velocity and finally decrease force vector.Aerofoil digunakan untuk mendapatkan gaya angkat pada desain sayap pesawat. Gaya angkat disebabkan oleh perbedaan kecepatan udara pada aerofoil atas dan bawah yang besarnya tergantung pada sudut serang aerofoil dan kecepatan udara yang ada disekitarnya. Eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk menampilkan vektor gaya (distribusi tekanan) pada aerofoil. Aerofoil dilekatkan pada udara dengan kecepatan konstan. Prosedur penelitian dilakukan dengan cara mengubah sudut serang aerofoil pada lima formasi. Permukaan aerofoil dihubungkan dengan alat ukur tekanan yang tersebar pada 11 titik pengukuran. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa besarnya vektor gaya bergantung pada sudut serang aerofoil. Sudut aerofoil yang meningkat hingga sudut batas akan diikuti dengan peningkatan kecepatan udara pada titik pengukuran dan akhirnya meningkatkan vektor gaya. Sudut batas atas akan diikuti oleh penurunan kecepatan udara pada titik pengukuran dan akhirnya menurunkan vektor gaya.

Abstract

This research is intended to produce a suitable video-based learning media on the making of helical gear in Milling Theory. This is a Research and Development type research incorporating six steps, namely: stating the potentials and problems, collecting data, designing the product, validation of the product design, revision of the design and product trials. Feasibility of the learning media was assesed by content-expert, media expert, teachers and students, by means of questionnaires. The quantitative research data were analized using quantitative-descriptive analysis technique. The product of this research is a learning media in the form of mp4 videos about Milling Machining practice. The media includes introductory music, videos, naration and animation. The feasibility level of the video-based learning media were assessed and presented in the form of percentages and classifications. The content-expert gave a feasibility level of 96.50% with classification of "very good", the media-expert gave 80.63% with classification of "very good", the teacher gave 76.25% with classification "very good" and the students' responses reached 80.52% with classification of "strongly agree" to the use of the video-based learning media. It can be concluded that the video-based learning media of Milling Machining Theory is feasible to use in the teaching and learning process.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa media pembelajaran berbasis video pembuatan roda gigi heliks pada Teori Pemesinan Frais yang layak digunakan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan enam tahap, yaitu: potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain dan uji coba produk. Kelayakan media pembelajaran dinilai menggunakan angket oleh ahli materi, ahli media, guru pengampu dan siswa. Data penelitian berupa data kuantitatif yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian berupa produk media pembelajaran Teknik Pemesinan Frais berbasis video berbentuk file mp4 yang dilengkapi dengan musik pengantar, video, narator dan animasi. Kelayakan media pembelajaran berbasis video dari ahli materi diperoleh persentase sebesar 96.50% dengan klasifikasi sangat baik, dari ahli media diperoleh persentase sebesar 80.63% dengan klasifikasi sangat baik, dari guru pengampu diperoleh persentase sebesar 76.25% dengan klasifikasi sangat baik dan berdasarkan respon penilaian siswa diperoleh persentase sebesar 80.52% dengan klasifikasi sangat setuju menggunakan media pembelajaran ini. Dengan demikian media pembelajaran berbasis video pada Teori Pemesinan Frais layak digunakan untuk proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of CBT Learning Model based on character in the milling machine practice, in relation with:  (1) changes in attitude and behavior of the students, and (2) improvement of students' academic achievement. This research is a classroom action research. The research subjects were the B1 group of 3rd semester students of Mechanical Engineering Education Bachelor Degree program enrolled in Milling Machine Process course. Data were collected by means of observation and tests. Analysis of the data were carried out using quantitative-descriptive techniques. Results of this study are: (1) attitude and behavior of the students were improved with an average of 30.66%, and (2) students' achievement were improved by an average of 17.55%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dampak penerapan Model Pembelajaran CBT Berbasis Karakter dalam praktik pemesinan frais, yang terkait dengan: (1) perubahan sikap dan perilaku mahasiswa; (2) peningkatan prestasi belajar mahasiswa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester 3 Program Studi S1 Pendidikan Teknik Mesin yang mengikuti mata kuliah Proses Pemesinan Frais kelas B1. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan tes. Analisis data menggunakan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) sikap dan perilaku mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan yaitu rata-rata sebesar 30,66%; (2) prestasi belajar mahasiswa juga mengalami peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 17,55%.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to describe the strategies used in integrating soft skills, obstacles encountered in the application of soft skills, and efforts to overcome the obstacles. This research is a descriptive research. The research subjects are 7 welding practice teachers and 60 students. Data were collected by means of survey, interview, observation and documentation. The results show that soft skills have been integrated in welding practice learning by incorporating it into the lesson plan (RPP). By scientific approach and discussion method, the soft skills values are included in the assessment's rubric. Obstacles in the integration of soft skills are the lack of students concern regarding soft skills, less motivated students, limited time in the integration of soft skills, and different perception among the teachers in applying soft skills. Efforts by the teachers to overcome the obstacles are by warnings, rewards, punishment, and establish a cooperation with other party.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi yang digunakan dalam mengintegrasikan soft skills, hambatan yang dihadapi dalam penerapan soft skills, dan upaya dalam mengatasi hambatan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Informan penelitian yaitu guru praktik pengelasan 7 orang dan 60 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu survei, wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa soft skills dalam pembelajaran praktik pengelasan telah diintegrasikan dengan memasukkan ke dalam rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP). Dengan pendekatan saintifik dan metode diskusi, nilai soft skills dimasukkan ke dalam rubrik penilaian. Hambatan dalam mengintegrasikan soft skill, siswa kurang peduli terhadap soft skils, siswa kurang termotivasi, terbatasnya waktu untuk menanamkan soft skills, dan perbedaan persepsi guru dalam menerapkan soft skills. Upaya yang dilakukan guru untuk mengatasi hambatan dengan memberikan teguran, reward, punishment, dan menjalin kerjasama dengan pihak lain.

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the students who cannot finish their course on time, addressing the inhibiting factor for their course completion, identify the students' efforts and struggle on their course completion, and to understand their expectations from the school administration to accommodate their course completion. The research used survey methods with questionnaire as the instrument. The subjects of the research are the diploma and bachelor degree students of Mechanical Engineering Education Department. Data were analyzed using quantitative-descriptive technique. The results show that the inhibiting factors are the long commute to campus for supervisions, many students still taking coursework, students already have a job, passive supervisors, unconducive environment, and supervisions that were not intensively done. The students were still committed to complete their course, albeit those inhibiting factors. Students' commitments were supported by various efforts, namely intensive supervision, independent study or discussion, and finding a conducive environment to work on their final projects and theses. Students' expectations for the success of their course are the availability of final project and thesis in an earlier stage of their study, supervisor should be appointed based on their competency, increasing the allocated time of the final project schedule, the administration needs to renew the workshop's machinery and equipment, and cut off the unnecessary final project and Thesis administration steps, to make it easier for students in completing their course. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi mahasiswa yang tidak dapat menyelesaikan studinya tepat waktu, mengetahui faktor penghambat, mengetahui usaha-usaha yang sudah dilakukan mahasiswa, dan mengetahui harapan mahasiswa kepada pengelola Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin FT UNY. Penelitian menggunakan metode survey menggunakan angket dengan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Objek penelitian yaitu mahasiswa D3 Teknik Mesin dan S1 Pendidikan Teknik Mesin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat beberapa kendala penyelesaian studi yaitu: jarak yang jauh ke kampus untuk bimbingan, masih ada yang kuliah teori/praktik, sudah ada yang bekerja, dosen kurang aktif membimbing, lingkungan tempat tinggal kurang kondusif, dan bimbingan tidak intensif. Namun demikian, mahasiswa masih berkomitmen untuk menyelesaikan studinya. Keseriusan mahasiswa tersebut didukung dengan berbagai usaha, seperti bimbingan secara intensif, belajar mandiri atau diskusi, dan mencari lingkungan yang kondusif untuk mengerjakan Proyek Akhir dan Skripsi. Selain itu, harapan mahasiswa yaitu mata kuliah Proyek Akhir dan Skripsi dapat diambil lebih awal, penentuan dosen pengampu mata kuliah relevan dengan kompetensinya, jadwal pelaksanaan Proyek Akhir perlu ditambah frekwensinya, peremajakan peralatan bengkel, dan memperpendek administrasi Proyek Akhir dan Skripsi sehingga semakin mempermudah mahasiswa menyelesaikan studinya.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe students' reading ability and drafting skills on technical drawing, and the students' complaints of school factors, which affect the learning process on engineering drawing subject in grade XI of Machining study program. This is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The population in this research were 112 students. The samples of 91 students were chosen using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected by means of tests and questionnaire. Data were then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The result shows that students' reading ability of engineering drawing is in the category of "high" with percentages of completion from the "comply with the drawing standard" indicator is 91.21% and "correctness" indicator is 40%.  Students' drafting skills is in the category of "high" with percentages of completion from the indicators of "comply with the drawing standard" is 79.12%, "clear and easy to understand" is 63%, "drafting speed" is 87%, and "cleanliness" is 89%. The most complained in terms of school factors on the subject of engineering drawing are student-teacher relationship, classroom equipment, building condition, and homework.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca gambar, mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam membuat gambar kerja, dan keluhan siswa ditinjau dari faktor sekolah yang mempengaruhi belajar mengajar siswa pada mata pelajaran gambar teknik kelas XI Teknik Pemesinan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 112 orang. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 91 siswa ditentukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan tes dan angket. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam membaca gambar berada pada kategori tinggi dengan presentase keberhasilan indikator tiap evaluasi pada standar sebesar 91.21% dan betul sebesar 40%, kemampuan siswa dalam membuat gambar berada pada kategori tinggi dengan presentase keberhasilan indikator tiap evaluasi pada standar sebesar 79.12%, jelas dan mudah dipahami sebesar 63%, kecepatan sebesar 87%, dan kebersihan sebesar 89%, dan keluhan siswa pada mata pelajaran gambar teknik ditinjau dari faktor sekolah yang cukup dikeluhkan adalah relasi guru dengan siswa, alat pelajaran, keadaan gedung, dan tugas rumah.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the inhibiting factors affecting the productivity of scientific papers publication of UNY graduate school students on indexed international journals, and students' expectation for the school administration to increase that productivity. This is a survey research carried out by the Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (PPs UNY), involving 74 respondents. Data were obtained by means of questionnaire and were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results can be stated as follows. 1) The inhibiting factors came from external factors, namely busy workload, the high cost of international publishing, limited resource and access to printed journals subscription, and limited resource of online journals subscription. 2)  Students' expectation to increase the productivity of indexed international journals publication are improvement in the dissemination of the program, access to information and services, English writing course, free translation, establish cooperation and networking, and subscription of online and printed journals.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap: 1) faktor penghambat produktivitas mahasiswa dalam publikasi karya ilmiah pada jurnal internasional terindeks, 2) harapan mahasiswa kepada pengelola kampus untuk meningkatkan produktivitas publikasi karya ilmiah dalam jurnal internasional terindeks. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei yang dilakukan di Program Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (PPs UNY) dengan responden berjumlah 74 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian dijelaskan sebagai berikut. 1) Faktor penghambat publikasi karya ilmiah pada jurnal internasional terindeks bersumber dari faktor eksternal yaitu kesibukan kerja, besarnya biaya, terbatasnya langganan jurnal cetak, terbatasnya langganan jurnal online, dan terbatasnya akses jurnal cetak. 2) Harapan Mahasiswa PPs UNY untuk meningkatkan produktivitas publikasi karya ilmiah dalam jurnal internasional terindeks yaitu perbaikan dan peningkatan dalam sosialisasi, akses informasi dan layanan, pelatihan penulisan dan bahasa Inggris, bantuan alih bahasa secara gratis, menjalin kerjasama dengan berbagai pihak, serta langganan jurnal online dan cetak

Abstract

This research aims to identify the relevance of competency of manufacture drawing subject at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Jatinom compared to the industrial competency needs. The research is a descriptive research. The subjects of the study were students, a teacher of manufacture drawing subject, and drafters working in the manufacturing industry. Questionnaires were used as data collection method. Data were analyzed using statistical descriptive analysis by percentages. The result shows that the relevance of competency of manufacture drawing subject to the industrial competency needs is 74.3%, which is in the category of "medium" relevancy. The learning materials of manufacture drawing subject being taught to the students is 52.3% (highly relevant), while the learning materials itself is 47.7% (medium relevancy).Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui relevansi kompetensi mata pelajaran Teknik Gambar Menufaktur di SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Jatinom dengan kebutuhan kompetensi di industri. Penelitian ini merupakan peneltian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa, guru Teknik Gambar Menufaktur dan drafter pada industri manufaktur.  Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket. Analisa data yang digunakan adalah statistik analisis deskriptif dengan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa relevansi kompetensi mata pelajaran Teknik Gambar Menufaktur di SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Jatinom terhadap kompetensi kebutuhan industri adalah sebesar 72% dan termasuk dalam kategori cukup relevan. Materi yang sudah diperoleh oleh siswa tentang mata pelajaran TGM 52,3% yang termasuk kategori sangat relevan, sedangkan 47,7% materi yang diperoleh siswa termasuk kategori cukup relevan.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop aluminium casting module and to know the result of its feasibility test. In the development of this module using Research and Development method and feasibility test data obtained using questionnaire and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis in the form of scores (numbers) converted into percentages and categorized according to the scoring scale used. The aluminium casting module is produced by stages: requirements analysis, product creation, validation, product revision, product test, and product trial test analysis. The results of the feasibility test of aluminium casting module according to the material expert obtained a percentage of 76% included in the category very well. According to the media expert, aluminum casting module obtained 83% percentage included in the category very well. According to the teachers, the percentage of 87% and 88% are in the very good category, and the product test result or the student's response test to the aluminium casting module ern a percentage of 78% and 75% is included in the excellent category.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan modul pengecoran aluminium dan mengetahui hasil uji kelayakannya. Pada Pengembangan modul ini menggunakan metode Research and Development dan data uji kelayakan yang diperoleh menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dalam bentuk skor persentase dan dikategorikan sesuai dengan skala penilaian yang digunakan. Modul pengecoran logam aluminium dihasilkan dengan tahap-tahap: analisis kebutuhan, pembuatan produk, validasi, revisi produk, uji coba produk , dan analisi hasil uji coba produk. Hasil uji kelayakan modul pengecoran logam aluminium menurut ahli materi memperoleh persentase sebesar 76% termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Menurut ahli media modul pengecoran aluminium memperoleh persentase 83% termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Menurut guru pengampu memperoleh persentase sebesar 87% dan 88 % termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik, dan hasil uji coba produk atau uji respon siswa terhadap modul pengecoran aluminium memperoleh persentase sebesar 78%  dan 75 % termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik
