Abstract

This study determined the impacts of the implementation of characters-based collaborative learning model on the students’ attitudes and achievement in the course of machining process. This experimental study was conducted in the fitting and machining workshop at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The population consisted of the students who were taking the course of Complex Machining Process totaling 85 students. The samples included 33 students who were determined by purposive sampling technique. The experiment was carried out by the posttest-only control design. The instrument validation was conducted by expert judgment. The data in this study were analyzed using descriptive analysis and t-test with significance level of 0.05. The results revealed that: (1) the attitude of the students in the model class was better than the conventional class, and (2) the students of the model class performed better achievement in the course of Machining Process.

Abstract

The needs of operators for each type of industry are different because the type and the complexity of the task is different. Small and medium-sized industries require machine operators with better capabilities than operators in large companies, thus it is necessary to identify what tasks are performed by these operators. This study aim at (1) identifying duties of machine tool operators in small and medium enterprises, and (2) identifying tasks carried out by machine tool operators in small and medium enterprises. This study used a descriptive research method. The participants were eight machine tool operators from five small and medium enterprises in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data collection used document review, observation, questionnaires and focus group discussions. The data were analysed using descriptive analysis. The results of the study were (1) five duties done by machine tool operators are identified (maintaining safe work environment, maintaining the machine tools, analyzing the blueprint, performing machining operations, cleaning the machines and the workplace), and (2) twenty seven tasks executed by machine tool operators are identified; twenty-two knowledge and skills, seventeen behaviors, and eighteen machines, tools and equipment required by machine operators.

Abstract

An assessment instrument is one of the most important factors to guarantee objectivity, fairness, and accuracy in assessing the level of students' performances in the learning process. This study aims to produce an authentic assessment model in problem solving learning. The objectives of this studyare to examine: (1) the feasibility of the developed authentic assessment model in the aspects of practicality, effectiveness, and feasibility of assessment; and (2) the accuracy of the assessment results from the authentic assessment model. This study was a research and development that adopts the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) development model. The research subjects consisted of eight teachers and 44 students selected with a purposive sampling technique. This study was conducted in 4 Vocational High Schools in Yogyakarta. The research instrument validation was examined by expert judgment. The data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets. Its data wereanalysed with descriptive statistical techniques, inter-rater reliability, inter-item correlation, and intraclass correlation.The results of the study show that (1) the developed authentic assessment model was feasible to be implemented since it fulfilled the requirements of practicality, effectiveness and implementation; and (2) the level of accuracy of the assessment results from the authentic assessment model has a very good criteria with  κ mean  of 0.978.

Abstract

This research is intended to produce a suitable video-based learning media on the making of helical gear in Milling Theory. This is a Research and Development type research incorporating six steps, namely: stating the potentials and problems, collecting data, designing the product, validation of the product design, revision of the design and product trials. Feasibility of the learning media was assesed by content-expert, media expert, teachers and students, by means of questionnaires. The quantitative research data were analized using quantitative-descriptive analysis technique. The product of this research is a learning media in the form of mp4 videos about Milling Machining practice. The media includes introductory music, videos, naration and animation. The feasibility level of the video-based learning media were assessed and presented in the form of percentages and classifications. The content-expert gave a feasibility level of 96.50% with classification of "very good", the media-expert gave 80.63% with classification of "very good", the teacher gave 76.25% with classification "very good" and the students' responses reached 80.52% with classification of "strongly agree" to the use of the video-based learning media. It can be concluded that the video-based learning media of Milling Machining Theory is feasible to use in the teaching and learning process.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa media pembelajaran berbasis video pembuatan roda gigi heliks pada Teori Pemesinan Frais yang layak digunakan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan enam tahap, yaitu: potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain dan uji coba produk. Kelayakan media pembelajaran dinilai menggunakan angket oleh ahli materi, ahli media, guru pengampu dan siswa. Data penelitian berupa data kuantitatif yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian berupa produk media pembelajaran Teknik Pemesinan Frais berbasis video berbentuk file mp4 yang dilengkapi dengan musik pengantar, video, narator dan animasi. Kelayakan media pembelajaran berbasis video dari ahli materi diperoleh persentase sebesar 96.50% dengan klasifikasi sangat baik, dari ahli media diperoleh persentase sebesar 80.63% dengan klasifikasi sangat baik, dari guru pengampu diperoleh persentase sebesar 76.25% dengan klasifikasi sangat baik dan berdasarkan respon penilaian siswa diperoleh persentase sebesar 80.52% dengan klasifikasi sangat setuju menggunakan media pembelajaran ini. Dengan demikian media pembelajaran berbasis video pada Teori Pemesinan Frais layak digunakan untuk proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of family environment factors, industry practice experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge on Vocational High Schools (VHS) students' entrepreneurship readiness in Yogyakarta. From a total population of 1095 students,300 were selected as samples using the proportional random sampling technique by means of the Krejcie and Morgan formula. The data were collected through inventories, observation sheets, and documents. The content validity was assessed through expert judgment. The construct validity was assessed using the factor analysis and the reliability using the Cronbach's Alpha formula. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis, regression analysis, and path analysis at a significance level of 0.05. The results show that: (1) there is a positive and significant influence of family environment, industry practice experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge on VHSs students' entrepreneurial readiness; and (2) family environment factors, industry practice experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge have a significant influence both directly and indirectly in determining the entrepreneurship readiness of VHS students.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor lingkungan keluarga, pengalaman praktik industri, dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha siswa SMK di DIY.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional yang bersifat ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 1095 orang siswa. Jumlah sampel penelitian pada taraf kesalahan 5% sebanyak 300 siswa ditentukan dengan formula Krejcie dan Morgan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan inventori, lembar pengamatan dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan lingkungan keluarga, pengalaman praktik industri, dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan terhadap kesiapan berwirausaha siswa SMK. Disamping itu, faktor lingkungan keluarga, pengalaman praktik industri, dan pengetahuan kewirausahaan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dalam menentukan kesiapan berwirausaha siswa SMK

Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian korelasional dan bersifat ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 1095 orang siswa. Jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 300 siswa ditentukan dengan formula Krejcie dan Morgan. Pengambilan sampel  dilakukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan inventori, lembar pengamatan dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Ada pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan penguasaan informasi, pemahaman diri, dan sikap siswa terhadap pemilihan program keahlian teknik mesin di SMK; (2) Faktor psikologis berupa penguasaan informasi, pemahaman diri dan sikap siswa memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dalam menentukan pemilihan program keahlian teknik mesin di SMK bagi siswa lulusan SMP/MTs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the implementation of character-based project-work learning model in practical subjects to student attitudes and learning achievement. This research was conducted using the Research and Development approach with a quasi-experiments design. The population of this research is 33 students of Complex Machining Process course in Mechanical Engineering Diploma Study Program of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Research data were collected using observation sheets, documentation, evaluation of learning outcomes and interviews. To determine the effect of the model, t-test analysis techniques were employed. Results of the research are: 1) there are attitude or behaviour differences of the students between the character-based project-work learning model class and the regular class (t = 7.31; p = 0,000); and 2) there are achievement differences of the students between the model classes and the regular class (t = 9.47; p = 0,000).Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penerapan model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter pada mata kuliah praktik terhadap sikap dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan Research and Development. Desain eksperimen menggunakan quasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa mata kuliah proses pemesinan kompleks pada Diploma III Program Studi Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta yang berjumlah 33 mahasiswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar observasi, dokumentasi, evaluasi hasil belajar dan wawancara. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter digunakan teknik analisis uji-t. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan adalah: 1) ada perbedaan sikap atau perilaku mahasiswa antara kelas yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter dibandingkan dengan kelas biasa (t= 7,31; p = 0,000); dan 2) ada perbedaan prestasi belajar mahasiswa antara kelas yang diajar dengan  model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter dibandingkan dengan kelas biasa (t=9,47; p= 0,000).

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of psychological factors of students, composed of self-understanding, information literacy, and attitudes, to the choice of entering mechanical engineering study program in Vocational High Schools (VHSs) by Junior High School graduates. The research is a correlational ex post facto study. The population was 1095 students and the sample was 300 students which was sampled using proportional random sampling technique using the Krejcie and Morgan formula. The data were collected through inventories, observation sheets, and documents. The content validity was assessed through expert judgment. The construct validity was assessed using the factor analysis and the reliability using the Cronbach's Alpha formula. The data were analysed using descriptive analysis, regression analysis, and path analysis at a significance level of 0.05. The results show that: (1) There are positive and significant effects of information literacy, self-understanding and attitudes to the choice of mechanical engineering study program in VHSs; (2) Psychological factors, such as information literacy, self-understanding and attitudes, have significant effects, either directly or indirectly, to the choice of mechanical engineering study program in VHSs by Junior High Schools graduates. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor psikologis siswa yang terdiri dari aspek pemahaman diri, penguasaan informasi, dan sikap terhadap pemilihan program keahlian teknik mesin di SMK oleh para lulusan siswa SMP/MTs. Abstract

This research aimed to design and assess the feasibility of Adobe Flash aided learning media for CNC Turning subject, specifically for the coordinate system topic. The research was a research and development study using the Four-D models of development. Four-D model consists of 4 steps, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The instrument being used on this research was closed questionnaires with 4 choices Likert scale. The questionnaires were validated by expert evaluation. Data were collected from the 32 respondents. Data, which were quantitative and qualitative, were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. The result shows that the learning media meets the teachers' and students' needs and expectation. For the feasibility level, the contents expert gave an average score of 3.37 which can be categorized as "very good". The expert in media gave an average score of 3.45 which is in the "very good" category. The Teacher of the respective subject gave an average score of 3.38 and is categorized as "very good". Students respond well with a score of 3.47 were given, which can be categorized as "very good". Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang media pembelajaran berbantuan adobe flash untuk mata pelajaran CNC Turning dengan sistem koordinat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model pengembangan Four-D Models yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket dengan skala Likert 4 pilihan jawaban. Angket divalidasi oleh ahli evaluasi. Pengambilan data dilakukan kepada 32 responden. Data kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan telah disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan tuntutan dari guru dan siswa. Tingkat kelayakan media pembelajaran menurut ahli materi mendapatkan rerata nilai sebesar 3,37 dengan kategori "sangat baik". Hasil validasi ahli media memperoleh rerata nilai sebesar 3,45 dengan kategori "sangat baik". Hasil validasi guru pengampu memperoleh rerata nilai sebesar 3,38 dengan kategori "sangat baik". Berdasarkan penilaian respon siswa diperoleh rerata sebesar 3,47 dengan kategori "sangat baik".

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) discover a collaborative skills-based learning model for practical work invocational education programs which can improve the quality of learning outcomes; (2) determine the effect ofthe application of collaborative skills-based learning model for practical work towards the students' attitude andlearning outcome. This R&D and experiments research was carried out in manufacturing industry of machiningfield in Yogyakarta, and in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta StateUniversity. The population being studied was all of Diploma students of Mechanical Engineering study programwho enrolled in Complex Machining Processes course. Research sample of 33 students, divided in two groups,were determined by purposive sampling technique. The experiment was carried out by posttest-only controldesign. Content validation was done by expert judgment and items reliability with Alpha Cronbach formula andKR-20. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and t-test, with significance level of 0.05. The resultsshow that: (1) The collaborative skills-based learning model for practical work is suitable to be implemented inorder to improve the quality of learning outcomes in practical work; (2) The students' attitude and learningachievement of the model class is better, or higher, than the controlled class.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menemukan model pembelajaran praktik berbasis collaborative skillpada program pendidikan vokasi yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas hasil belajar; (2) mengetahui pengaruhpenerapan model pembelajaran praktik berbasis collaborative skill terhadap sikap dan prestasi belajarmahasiswa. Penelitian R&D dan eksperimen ini dilaksanakan di industri manufaktur bidang pemesinan diwilayah DIY dan di Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin FT-UNY. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswaprogram studi D3 Teknik Mesin FT-UNY yang melaksanakan kuliah Proses Pemesinan Kompleks. Pemilihansampel ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Eksperimen dilaksanakan dengan rancangan posttest-onlycontrol design. Validasi isi dilakukan dengan expert judgement dan reliabilitas butir dengan formula AlphaCronbach dan KR-20. Data dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan uji-t, taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa: (1) model pembelajaran praktik berbasis collaborative skill cocok digunakan untukmeningkatkan kualitas hasil belajar praktik; (2) Sikap dan prestasi belajar praktik mahasiswa pada kelas modellebih baik atau lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol.
