Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ongoing assesment in collaborative teamwork learning using flip chart on students’ collaborative abilities and cognitive skills. This research design used was one shot case design and one group pretest-posttest design. This study used one experiment class and students were given special treatment or teaching for some time. This treatment is the use of ongoing assessment in collaborative teamwork learning using flip chart on students’. The research data was taken from the value of observations and initial and final tests whose results were tested using the simple linear regression. Based on the results of the first hypothesis and the second hypothesis testing using simple linear regression with Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) are both obtained 0,00 so H0 is rejected, which means the effect of ongoing assesment in collaborative teamwork learning using flip chart format influences the increase of collaborative abilities and cognitive skills. based on the value of the correlation coefficient (r) in the simple linear regression test obtained 0.42 for the first hypothesis test which means, the effect of ongoing assessment incollaborative teamwork learning using flip charts has a good enough effect on collaborative abilities, which is equal to 42%. Whereas in the second hypothesis test the correlation coefficient value (r) obtained in a simple linear regression test obtained 0.90, which means, the effect of ongoing assessment in collaborative teamwork learning using flip charts has a very good effect on cognitive skills, which is equal to 90%.

Abstract

Lack of understanding of concepts and facts in the Evolution subject leads to low activity and student learning achievement. That are caused students simply expect information from lectures who are still using regular discussion. The purpose of this research is to improve the activity and student learning achievement at the Evolution course. Learning activities that are studied, among others asking, answering questions, the moderator, presenter on discussions, and taking note of the lecturer. This type of research is a class action research in the class that may have activity and low learning achievement. Learning achievement assessed is cognitive aspect only the cognitive. Increasing of activity and student learning achievement will be done by using the method of group learning plenary discussion. It a method in which all participants can be used to describe a particular topic or concept so the understanding of the participants are expected to be the same. Application of the method plenary discussion on the course of evolution can improve the activity and student learning achievement of Biology education students of STKIP PGRI of West Sumatra

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop Problem-Based Learning student worksheets on bioremediation material to facilitate students authentic problem solving skills. The development used a procedural development model called ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects in this study were Biology Students at Surabaya State University. Data collection used validation, observation, and test techniques. Student worksheets quality measurement obtained by a rating scale instrument in the form of a validation sheet. The developed teaching materials were in the form of Semester Learning Design, Unit Of Lectures, Student worksheets, and problem solving skills-based question for evaluation purposed. This developed teaching materials had been validated by experts, with scores of SLD 3.36, UOL scores 3.44, Student worksheets were 3.36 respectively. In addition, the average score of practicality and effectiveness in pre-test and post-test of the developed teaching materials were 4.00, 1.85, and 3.40 respectively. All the developed teaching materials were in very good qualifications. Based on data analyzed, it could be concluded that the developed student worksheets on bioremediation material was valid so that it can facilitate authentic problem solving skills in Biology Students at State University of Surabaya and is feasible to be used as a teaching learning materials

Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of group investigation learning on student’s science process skill based on their IQ in SMAN 1 Mataram for eleventh grade students. This is a quasi experimental study using pretest postest control group design design. Pretest was taken to get data of student’s IQ. Posttest was also conducted to measure student’s science process skill. Sample was taken using nonprobability sampling from the population of eleventh grade student in SMAN 1 Mataram.The sample was two group of student each from two class, class XI sains 6 and as experimental group and class XI sains 5 as control group. The average os Student’s IQ on experimental group and control group were equal, both at 112. Learning processes were 12 x 45 minutes long in total. The experimental group showed better average score on posttest where they scored 82.40 on average, while control group only scored 74.83 on average. This value is statistically significant, at p = 0.007, less that 0.005. This result shows that implementation of group investigation can increase student’s science process skill.Keywords: Group investigation, science process skill, intelligence Quotient (IQ)ABSTRACT

Abstract

This study aims to develop science learning tools with guided inquiry models assisted by real media to improve scientific creativity and science process skills of grade VIII students at SMP IT Male and SMP IT Female Mataram on light and optical equipment. The development of this tool adopts the development of Dick and Carey. The resulting products are in the form of learning tools in the form of syllabus, lesson plans, LKPD, scientific creativity instruments and science process skills. Before being used, the device was validated by four expert validators and the result was that the device developed was suitable for use in learning. To test the effectiveness of the device, scientific creativity and scientific process skills were tested. The results of the scientific creativity test obtained an average N-Gain of 0.4. This shows that the device developed is quite effective in increasing the scientific creativity of students in the two schools being the subject. The second effectiveness test is the science process skills test. The average N-Gain value obtained was 0.7, this indicates that the learning device developed with a guided inquiry model assisted by real media is very effective in improving students' science process skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the capabilities of endophytic bacteria isolated from bark of the clove plants in inhibiting the growth of bacteria Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli and to identify endophytic bacteria that potensial to produce an antibacterial. Stages of this research include the isolation of endophytic bacteria, antibacterial test, biochemical test, and molecular identification based on 16 S rRNA. It was obtained about 29 isolates from bark of the cloves plants in which 6 of them isolates inhibited bacterial S. aureus and 3 isolates inhibited bacterial S. aureus and S. mutans. Abstract

The research has been carried out to develop STEM based Student Worksheets to determine their effectiveness in increasing students' entrepreneurial innovation through the development of candied nutmeg products and the responses of teachers and students to Student Worksheet. The research was conducted using the research and development (R & D) method using the ADDIE model. The sample in this study were 34 students of class XI IPA 1, selected using random sampling technique. The research data were obtained from expert assessment sheets, Student Worksheet and questionnaires for teachers and students. The results of the STEM-based Student Worksheet feasibility test by the experts showed that the Student Worksheet eveloped was classified as very worthy, with an average percentage value of 94.17%. The percentage of Yes responses obtained from teachers and students was 100.00% and 92.06% in the very good category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the developed STEM based Student Worksheet can increase students' entrepreneurial innovation and can be used as an alternative teaching material in craft and entrepreneurship materials, and get positive responses from teachers and students.

Abstract

Producing active charcoal to be absorbent for ion Fe2+ and Co2+ had been done by using waste of bagasse. The objective of study was to utilize waste of bagasse to be active charcoal, so it can be used for absorbent. Initially, it was carbonized by using pyrolysis at temperature of 300-400oC for 5 hours. Then, it was activated by solving to ZnCl 2 10% for 24 hours, filtered and washed by using distilled water. Wet active charcoal was drained in oven for 9 hours at temperature of 110oC. After that, the analysis stage was started by inserted the absorbent into 10 mL samples which are contained various concentration of ion Fe2+ and Co2+ with variation of 1 gram, 2 grams, and 3 grams for 10 ppm solution. The, it was stirred by contacted time of 10, 20, and 30 minutes. By the previous treatment, it was indicated that the best contacted time for Fe2+ is 30 minutes with 3 grams absorbent which is showed by color change from yellow to colorless with a removal percentage of 95%. For the same case, Co2+ has removal percentage of 98% for 3 grams absorbent with contacted time of 30 minutes which is showed by color change from pink to faded. Abstract

The optimal learning process, should be able to facilitate learning activities that cover both parts of the brain. This study aims to determine the effect of brain based learning model on the critical thinking ability of physics of students of class X. This research type is quasi experiment and use non-equivalent control group design with pre-test and post-test. The population in this study is all students of class X MIA SMAN 1 Gunungsari with sampling technique is purposive sampling, so obtained X MIA 3 as experiment class and X MIA 4 as control class. Data of critical thinking ability was analyzed by using t-test polled variance. Data analysis shows that tcount is 2.93 and ttable at 5% significance level of 2.0084, so tcount > ttable. Based on the result of research can be concluded that there is influence of brain based learning model to critical thinking ability physics students class X.Keywords: Brain Based Learning, Critical Thinking Ability

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of media-based learning moodle to increase students' generic skills in materials science impulse and momentum. The method used is the method of quasi-experimental research design with untreated control group design with pretest and posttest. A total of 53 students were divided into experimental group and control group were included in this study. Research instruments using generic science skills test in the form of descriptions about. Data analysis using the test "mean-difference" and "normalized gain scores". Based on the results of this study concluded that the use of media-based learning moodle does not result in a significant increase in the ability of generic science class experiment between students and classroom control. But based on the achievement of values, the average value of the ability of generic science experiments grade higher than the control class. Keywords: Moodle-Based Learning Media, Generic Skills
