Abstract

This research was intended to determine the rate of Organic Soil Treatment (OST) and the interval of application of Landeto solution or their interaction on the growth of shallots grown in the regosol soil. This research was conducted in the green house of Departement of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture Gadjah Mada University. A Randomized Complete Block Design, employing a factorial treatment was chosen. The first factors was rates of OST, i.e,: 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 ton ha?. The second factors was interval of application of Landeto Solution, i.e, : 3, 5 and 7 days. The combination treatments were repeated 3 times. Results of the research showed that; 1) Intermedien between rates of OST at 6 ton ha? and interval of application of Landeto solution ot 5 days, was found in bulb number per hills ( 29.87, cm2 ) respectively. 2) Application of OST, at 6 ton ha? had a significant effect on the plant fresh weight and the fresh bulb weigth, 3) Application of Landeto solution at different intervals had no significant effect on all components and crop yield.

Abstract

Sansevieria is an ornamental plant which has variation leaves on colour and form. It has unstabilizaton characteristic of genetic. This condition especially happens on species Sansevieria trifasciata. Sansevieria trifasciata which has been expressed to the colour and form of leaves. Variation in isozyme banding pattern knew morpholog variation in species S. trifasciata. The aim of this research looked at difference of anatomycal structure for organs, and any variation in their isozyme banding pattern of S. trifasciata Green tiger, Hahnii medio picta, Green arrow, Golden hahnii, serta Hahnii cream. The approach were used morphology and microscopic observation of surface leaf, stalk, and root organs; isozyme banding pattern used electrophoresis method. The genetic diversity knew from the analyze result of isozyme based on the matric of genetic distance which applied on the shape of dendogram with Hierarchical Cluster Analysis metode average linkage (between groups) program SPSS 14. The results showed that genetic diversity of S. trifasciata Hahnii cream, Green arrow, Hahnii medio picta, Golden hahnii, and Green tiger have been found. Morphology observations, there was a unique character on S. trifasciata Hahnii medio picta,while the microscopic observation on leaves organ, all varieties have the same form, Green arrow has different on stalk cells compared with the others varieties. Root cells of Golden Hahnii and Hahnii cream have same cell. The dendogram resulting from peroxydase data of S. trifasciata was clustered in two groups while S. trifasciata Hahnii medio picta has own character in group. Accordingly the esterase data showing it divided two group, S. trifasciata Golden hahnii has own character.

Abstract

Sulfate reducing bacteria utilize sulfate as their terminal electron acceptor and reduce it to sulphide. Acid mine drainage, by-products of mining activities, is an acidic sulfate-rich wastewater suitable habitat for sulfate reducing bacteria. Isolation and identification of sulfate reducing bacteria collected from Muara Enim coal mining, South Sumatra was carried out at Laboratory of Environmental Biotechnology, Indonesian Center for Biodiversity and Biotechnology (ICBB), Bogor, and Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Veterinary, Bogor Agricultural University. Postgate B liquid media was used for isolation and purification via serial dilution. Physiological and biochemical characterization was done based on Bergeys Manual of Determinative Bacteriology. Fifteen pure isolates have been isolated with diverse characteristics. Eight isolates can sustain at pH 3, while the rest sustain at pH 4 or above. Sulfate reduction efficiency of each isolates were different, but increased as the pH increased. The bacteria are classified as Desulfovibrio sp., which is characterized straight rods, motile, non spore-forming and able to grow in simple organic carbon.

Abstract

Basic of cocoa bean preparation process is fermentation. Fermentation is done especially to improve and build specific chocolate flavour of cocoa bean and its products, i. e. cocoa liquor, butter, and powder; and also to decrease the disliked flavors, like bitter and acid. Research of cocoa bean fermentation was hold on in Subak Abian Pucaksari, Tabanan. This research involved 20 cooperative farmers with 0,5 hectare farm area per each farmer. The treatment used was time of cocoa bean fermentation, i.e. without fermentation, not fully fermentation (4 days), and fully fermentation (5 days). Variables observed were dried cocoa beans physic and chemical quality, and also cocoa products chemical and organoleptic quality. Organoleptic test done to cocoa liquor and powder was descriptive and ranking test used 15 semi-trained panelists. The result showed that the fermentation process had significant influence to dried cocoa beans chemical quality and its products. Fermentation had no significant influence to dried cocoa beans physic quality. For organoleptic quality attributes, all panelists gave the highest rank for cocoa liquor and powder prepared from fully fermented cocoa bean.

Abstract

The application that builded in this research is a pointer controller using eye movement (eye pointer). This application is one of image processing applications, where the users just have to move their eye to control the computer pointer. This eye pointer is expected able to assist the usage of manual pointer during the presentation. Since the title of this research is using gaze tracking that follow the eye movement, so that is important to detect the center of the pupil. To track the gaze, it is necessary to detect the center of the pupil if the eye image is from the input camera. The gaze tracking is detected using the three-step hierarchy system. First, motion detection, object (eye) detection, and then pupil detection. For motion detection, the used method is identify the movement by dynamic compare the pixel ago by current pixel at t time. The eye region is detected using the Haar-Like Feature Classifier, where the sistem must be trained first to get the cascade classifier that allow the sistem to detect the object in each frame that captured by camera. The center of pupil is detect using integral projection.The final step is mapping the position of center of pupil to the screen of monitor using comparison scale between eye resolution with screen resolution. When detecting the eye gaze on the screen, the information (the distance and angle between eyes and a screen) is necessary to compute pointing coordinates on the screen. In this research, the accuracy of this application is equal to 80% at eye movement with speed 1-2 second. And the optimum mean value is between 5 and 10. The optimum distance of user and the webcam is 40 cm from webcam.

Abstract

Partnership development and technology business incubator on the basis of mutual interests will require more real if developed until the stage of commercialization of technological innovation in the markerplace. The partnership is based on sharing information, experiences and resources between hinger education institutions, research institutions and the community. It is expected that such partership will preduce new business organization that comes from new ideas and new entrepreneurs. In this paper the initial design model is given as networks center college of growth in the form of partnership networks of higher education institutions and research institutions that support the development needs of the community business organizations through technology and business incubators.

Abstract

This article is objected to measure the coastal communities role in the implementation of marine resource conservation strategies. The population were all coastal communities in Palabuhanratu, Sukabumi. Respondents of 50 people were chosen randomly. Data were collected by using survey method, and were analyzed by Pearson correlation. The results indicated that the level of education of coastal communities was a primary school. Respondents have been working more than 10 years. Those who knew the meaning of the protection and conservation of marine resources was 56%, while 88% of them did not know the meaning of preservation of marine resources. The role of coastal communities in aspects of marine resource protection was low, in the aspects of marine resource conservation was high, and in the preservation of marine resources was low. The characteristics of coastal communities correlated positively with the level of knowledge of coastal communities (0,3 and ? = 0,05). Furthermore, the level of knowledge of coastal communities associated with the role of coastal communities in the implementation of conservation strategies (0,5 and ? = 0,05).

Abstract

This research aims are: (1) to identify factors related to the member perception on the role of farmer group; (2) to identify member perception on the role of farmer group related to competencies of farmer group member on the implementation of technology; and (3) to explain the role of agricultural extension workers to improve the ability of members on starfruit cultivation technology. Research uses a survey method, the population were farmer group member on Pasir Putih village, Sawangan district, Depok, with. number of samples were 40 people. The data were analyzed by the Spearman Rank test. Perceptions to the leadership group and group networking related significantly with perceptions of the role of members farmer group as study class. Experience farming management related significantly with perceptions of the farmer group member role as production unit farming management and cooperation vehicle. Farmer member group access by information related significantly with perception of the farmer group member as cooperation vehicle. The involvement of members in group activities related significantly with perceptions of the role of members farmer group as study class. The competencies of group member in skill technology related significantly to the role of group as study class and cooperation vehicle.

Abstract

Universitas Terbuka (UT) was implementing the centralized distribution of learning material, it is not considered efficient. Therefore, the decentralized distribution system which requires warehouses at certain regional offices will be proposed. The aims of this research are (1) investigating the decentralized learning material distribution model, (2) choosing the optimal location of warehouses to minimize the cost of learning material distribution, (3) choosing the regional offices which will be served optimally by each warehouse, (4) comparing efficiency of the centralized and decentralized learning material distribution system. The distribution problem is modeled as a linear mixed integer programming problem. The model will be solved using Branch and Bound method. This study considers centralized learning material distribution system and two alternative of decentralized learning material distribution systems, which are alternative 1 and alternative 2. It is found that in 2008 the cost of the alternative 2 is lower than the centralized learning distribution system. Besides, if the demand of learning material is increasing, the alternative 2 is still less costly than the other systems.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (i) to identify the effects of combination of compound fertilizers of NPK (25:7:7) and package NPK (10:55:10) on vegetative growth Adenium obesum in stead of Japanese frangipani plant, and (ii) to obtain the best combination of dose of NPK (25:7:7) and package NPK (10:55:10) in order to improve plant vegetative growth of Adenium obesum. This experiment was conducted in employed completely random design with factorial pattern of 4 and three times repetition. Factor I, the dose of NPK (25:7:7) fertilizer in 4 levels of dose : 0.0 g/L; 0.5 g/L; 1.0 g/L; and 1.5 g/L. Meanwhile, Factor II, the dose of package NPK (10:55:10) was applied with 4 levels of dose : 0.0 g/L; 0.5 g/L; 1.0 g/L; and 1.5 g/L. The data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA) technique to identify the influence of the treatment towards variables measured and mean separation was evaluated using DMRT with 5% level of difference. The results show that the use of combination of compound fertilizers NPK (25:7:7) and package NPK (10:55:10) improves plant vegetative growth of Adenium obesum. However, the use of combination of NPK 0.0 g/L and package NPK 0.5 g/L shows unsatisafactory results. The combination of NPK 1.5 g/L and package NPK 1.5 g/L provides the best result in improving plant vegetative growth of Adenium obesum.
