Abstract

Weed control using a single herbicide with same active ingredients can add the risk of weed resistance. Using mixed herbicides can increase the spectrum of weeds controlled, and inhibit weed resistance. Herbicide mixture with two or more types of active ingredients will show the interactions between one and another ingredient. These interactions could be synergistic, antagonistic, and additive. The research was to determine the response of mixed herbicide Bentazon, MCPA 460 g. L⁻¹ and their mixed characteristic. This experiment was conducted from June until August 2019 in the greenhouse at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran. The treatment consisted of three types of herbicides with six dose levels, namely a single herbicide of Bentazon 400 g. L⁻¹ and MCPA 60 g. L⁻¹ (4; 2; 1; 0.5; 0.25; 0 L.ha⁻¹), a mixed herbicide Bentazon MCPA 460 g.L⁻¹ (5; 2.5; 1.25; 0.625; 0.3215; 0 L.ha⁻¹) with four replications. The target weeds tested were Spenochlea zeylanica, Ludwigia hyssopifolia, Fimbristylis miliacea, and Cyperus iria was taken from the Ciparay area. Data were analysed by linear regression analysis and multiplicative survival model (MSM) method to determine the LD50 treatment and expectation. The result showed that compound herbicides of Bentazon and MCPA LD50 treatment (0,3857 g.ha⁻¹) had smaller value than LD50 expectation (0,6943 g.ha⁻¹) with a ecotoxicity value of 1.8 (> 1), so that the herbicide mixture was synergistic.

Abstract

Soil fertility status describes soil characteristics and soil suitability with the plants to be cultivated. This study aims to identify the variable soil fertility that becomes an obstacle in several villages in the Beringin District. This research was conducted in the villages of Aras Kabu, Kelapa, and Serdang, Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency. This research is descriptive using the survey method. Sampling of soil in the survey area was carried out sequentially with a purposive random sampling method. The results showed that the total N status in the three villages was classified as low. Where the total N value in Aras Kabu village was 0.13%, Kelapa village 0.12% and Serdang village was 0.21%. Phosphorus in the research field is classified as high. In the village of Aras, the district was 19.57 ppm, Kelapa village 19.27 ppm and Serdang village 13.19 ppm. The K2O value in the study area was also low, where the village of Aras Kabu was only 19.96 mg K2O/100 g, Kelapa village 18.56 mg K2O/100g and Serdang village 25.47 mg K2O/100g. The use of P fertilizers can be reduced as an implication of the status of P nutrients available in high land, while to increase the low levels of N and K nutrients, it can be done by providing organic matter in the form of fertilizer (compost or cage) or returning post-harvest straw to the land.

Abstract

New wetlands field generally has low productivity, so a technology is needed for improve productivity. New Superior Variety (NSV) is a technology that is considered easy to be adopted by farmers, so knowing a NSV that is able to adapt to the characteristics and conditions of new wetlands field is a must. The study of adaptive NSV on new wetlands field in Boven Digoel Regency is still limited so that the NSV recommendation for farmers is also still limited. The purpose of this study was to examine the growth and production of new superior varieties on the new wetlands fields in Boven Digoel Regency. The study was conducted on new wetlands in Asiki Village, Jair District during April-August 2019. Randomized Complete Block Design was employed with 3 replications using Inpari 36, Inpari 37, Inpago Rindang 1, Inpago Rindang 2 dan Inpara 8. The results showed different varieties perform different agronomy characters observed (plant height, number of tillers, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, filled grain, per panicle, empty grain per panicle and 1000 grain weight). Inpari 37 produced 5.3 ton/ha Dried Unhulled Rice, the highest production compared to other varieties, so that it could potentially be developed in Boven Digoel’s new wetlands field. Productivity may still be increased by improving soil fertility conditions.

Abstract

Breeding kara benguk with mutation induction techniques using gamma ray radiation is expected to produce genetic diversity. The purpose of the study is to determine the value of Lethal Dose 50 (LD50) and obtain the genetic diversity of the kara benguk plant. The research was conducted at PAIR BATAN and Agrotechnology experiment, Universitas Labuhanbatu from May-July 2020. The planting material used was kara benguk seeds. The method used was Randomized Complete Group Design (RCGD) with one factor which was dose of irradiation with six levels (0, 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 Gy) and three replications. Each replication consisted of 20 plants, so there are a total of 360 experimental plants. The results showed that the value of LD50 kara benguk in 3 weeks after planting was 281,472 Gy. Gamma ray irradiation increases the high genetic diversity of plants and the number of leaves at a dose of 350 Gy.

Abstract

Patchouli Aceh Lhokseumawe is a patchouli that has a high oil content.  However, the Lhokseumawe species have narrow plant genetic variation due to vegetative propagation. This study aims to analysis broad genetic variability and phenotypes, correlation between growth character and strong yield character to help selection in plant breeding.  The research was conducted at experimental field of the Politeknik Negeri Lampung in April until October 2018.  The research used Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 10 genotype and 3 replications.  Analysis of the data used is ANOVA, if significantly different followed by the LSI 5%, then using variability genotype and phenotype and t test. The result showed that NPL 1 had a better appearance than the Lhokseumawe (local) genotype in the LSI 5%.  Extensive genotype variability was found ini g/plant dry weight character and ton/ha dry terna production, broad phenotype variability was found in all observed characters.  High heritability is found in the characters of stem diameter, wet weight, dry weight, and production of dry ton/ha. Significantly positive phenotypic correlations that have high oil yield are characterized by the characteristics of dry weight, ton/ha dry cattle production, wet weight, and harvest index. Positive genotypic correlations were evident between growth and yield characters, namely the oil yield with leaf length, and leaf width.

Abstract

The presence of weeds in the crop can become a competitor and reduce crop production. Each type of weed and naturally materials contains different allelochemical compounds. This research aims to create appropriate technology for weed management in maize cultivation, especially in the early growth phase (germination) so that it can suppress the effect of weeds at the beginning of growth and increase maize growth. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 8 treatments namely aquadest (without weed extract/control), extract of the weed in the teki groups (Cyperus rotundus), grass weeds (Dactyloctenium aegyptium) and wide leaf weeds (Euphorbia heterophylla), ketapang, beluntas, acacia, and ginger (Zingiberaceae). The results showed that weed extract of D. aegyptium gave the greatest effect of inhibition of germination compared to C. rotundus and E. heterophylla at 12 DAS. Ginger leaf extract (Zingiberaceae) had the greatest effect on inhibition of germination compared to ketapang, beluntas, and acacia on corn seeds at 7 DAS. The application of weed extracts and natural ingredients can have an inhibitory effect, especially on the growth phase, namely the maize germination phase.
