Abstract

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) representing oil which extracted from coconut kernel without hot process but with ferment technique nor with enzyme owning certain typical aroma which less taken a fancy by consumer from facet acceptance. Addition of ginger at VCO cause certain flavor so that ginger VCO more able to be accepted by consumers. One of the ginger component is oleoresin representing resin mixture and resin atsiri oil in the oleoresin consist of active component in the form of fenol like gingerol, shogaol, and zingerone; that give hot feel while ginger atsiri oil component are a-pinene, camphene, phellendrene, mycene, cineol, methythe-ptenone, borneol, linalool, citral, and Ca-Aldehid C10, b-zingiberone a-dan, a-curcumene, farnesene, sesquiterpene that give ginger aroma characteristic. Used of ginger in so many mace ingredient, traditional refreshments give flavor and ginger typical aroma and to be recognized, and also is enough taken a fancy by Indonesia society. Fenol component (shogaol and gingerol) that there are in ginger oleoreesin can personate natural antioxidant. Natural antioxidant in the ginger oleoresin have potency to increase functional value of VCO as health oil.Method performed in this research are ginger oleoresin extraction and then enhancing to VCO then measured antioxidant activity with DPPH. VCO with addition of ginger oleoresin equal to 1% taken a fancy by panelist and do not significant with control (without addition of ginger oleoresin). But that way, addition of oleoresin manifestly can improve panelist preference to VCO aroma. VCO that added ginger oleoresin with higher level concentration (2, 3 and 4%) exactly less taken a fancy by panelist as a whole. That thing is related to degradation mount hobby of panelist at clearness, color and flavor VCO effect of increasing ginger oleoresin concentration at VCO. Addition of ginger oleoresin at VCO had significant an effect of antioxidant activity test by using DPPH as free radical.

Abstract

The aim of this research was request: What was the effect of planting season on marginal region miaze growth anad yield? What was the effect of velvet bean with different times planted and cultivars on maize growth and yield? What was the effect on interaction of seasons and velvet bean on maize growth and yield? This research was conducted on litosol soil in Tancep, Ngawen, Gunungkidul on 170 m up sea level and 9-10o elevation. The depth of soil tillage was 5-17 cm. Design utilization was Randomized Completed Block Design (RCBD) with factorial 2 factors. The treatment was 1) planting seasons: rainy and dry season 2) cultivars and velvet bean time planting: 1) control, monoculture corn, 2) corn and the same time Rase cultivar of velvet bean, 3) corn and the same time Putih Gunungkidul cultivar of velvet bean 4) corn and 2 weeks Rase cultivar of velvet bean planted after corn, 5) corn and 2 weeks Putih Gunungkidul cultivar of velvet bean planted after corn, 6) corn and 4 weeks Rase cultivar of velvet bean planted after corn, 7) corn and 4 weeks Putih Gunungkidul cultivar of velvet bean planted after corn. There is replicated 3 times. The 1st corn and 4 weeks velvet bean planted after corn produced higher seed per plant and per plot than monoculture corn. That data was also supported by 100 seed weight. The 2nd, corn with velvet bean on rainy season did not straw for animal feed harvest caused by the big velvet bean growth and long time harvest after corn. The 3rd, two fact recommended that corn increased yield on marginal region and dry season given by 4 weeks velvet bean planting after corn.

Abstract

Vegetables are essential for the body and easy to be found everywhere. Amaranth is highly nutritious vegetale and most people enjoy it. Amaranth is the source of vitamin A, C and aslo Fe, Ca and K as much as 40%. The Fe content in amaranth is high enough, twice more than other vegetables. Lack of iron in the body will lead to iron deficiency anemia disease. The method used analyzing iron in green amaranth, king amaranth and thorny amaranth is UV-visible Spectophotometer. The principal of UV-visible spectophotometers is visible beam adsorption by a color solution. Determinant of iron in the three kinds of the samples used KCNS 20% solution. Positive reaction indicated by blood-red color. The iron (Fe) contents in green amaranth was 5,11 mg/100 g; king amaranth’s was 5,615 mg/g and thorny amaranth’s was 4,88 mg/g. The result indicated the king amaranth had highest iron content.

Abstract

Most of all developing countries including Indonesia gave serious enough attention to overcome incursion import and also low import price problem. In many cases, low import product price into a state will have several bad effects to agriculture industry, rural development and employment. This research aims are (1) to know and analyze factors influence to rice import and (2) to know elasticity of rice import variable. The research use time series data, with secondary data type starting 1969-2004 year which collected from various archives or publication from Department of Agriculture, Statistical Bureau Center, BULOG, FAO, IRRI and relevant publication with this research. Analysis method used by econometric with OLS (Ordinary Least Square). Because of used time series data for the estimation, so will be test stationer of variable in data analysis (Koutsoyiannis, 1978). And than testing for degree of integration and to see long-range and short-range model used ECM Engle-Granger, 1997 (Insukindro, 2002).Conclusion of the research are (1) factors influence rice import is previous year import factor in short-range and long-range, despitefully rice import on a long term influenced also by earnings, (2) elasticity of previous year rice import in short-range 0,77 (inelastic) and on a long-range 0,40 (inelastic), while earnings elasticity is 13,5 (elastic). Research implication to depress rice import is substitution rice with higher value level of commodity.
