Abstract

The research aimed to describe how traditional games can be used to optimize speaking competence and children’s social emotion. The traditional game used for this research purpose is from Javanese culture named Dur Salidur. The unique characteristic of the game is the existence of conversation among players for communicating reasons for the group choice. The research method used is action research located in PAUD Labschool Yasmin Playgroup. The data testing was done by using Serial Reaction Time (SRT) with two cycles. The research found that Dur Salidur game was able to be a means of the developing child’s social emotional intelligence. Furthermore, in the second cycle, children could accept other people’s opinion, comply with the agreed rules by showing patience, adjust themselves as well as have an action representing the attitude of curiousity. Besides, the children’s language ability shows an increase through the game rules, giving them a chance to the children to communicate interactively and to keep the dialogue runs smoothly.

Abstract

This research aimed to explain the process and the result of using the “morning meeting” activities to improve the speaking ability of children aged 3-4 years in Kelompok Bermain 1 Sakinah Playgroup Al-Azhar Complex, East Jakarta in 2017. The research method used was a model of Kemmis Taggart spiral action research consisting of : (a) planning, (b) action and observation, and (c) reflection. The instruments used in this research were observation, interview, and documentation. The data scores of speech were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed that children's speaking skills have improved. If the pretest of children speaking ability significantly was 63.50%, in the first cycle, it became 71.45%. Scores in the second cycle increased by about 12.19% and scored 83.64%. The conclusion of this study is (1) the process of using the morning meeting activity could improve the speaking ability of children in Sakinah Playgroup Al-Azhar Complex in East Jakarta in 2017, (2) children's speaking ability in Sakinah Playgroup Complex Al-Azhar, East Jakarta in 2017 indicated an increase from pre-cycle to first cycle, and second cycle.

Abstract

The big problem of Indonesian people today is moral degradation. The number of criminal cases, promiscuity, drugs, and corruption indicate that the moral of this nation has been damaged. If it is not immediately addressed, it will have a negative impact on the sustainability of the nation . To overcome moral degradation, one way that is considered very effective is to implement religious humanist education from an early age. that in those days the child is very easy to receive new information and has not been affected by negative behavior from outside. Religious Humanist Education (RHE) is very important for early childhood. RHE teaches children about morality and good values towards fellow human beings and the environment. RHE can grow children to be intelligent, to have character, and to be noble. Therefore, this article aimed to examine the concept of religious humanist education in early childhood.

Abstract

Any phenomenon at research field in which there is any trend that the children had not spoken a less polite language when they were in Kindergarten, for example, there were some words or sentences mocking friends, insulting, swearing using local languages during in the classroom, polite language in learning. This Interactive Multimedia is aimed for Kindergarten throughout West Sumatera. The used research type is so-called Research and Development (R D). This developmental research used a model of Interactive Multimedia (IMM) development or those had been developed by Rob Philips (1997). This model consists of five steps those are analysis, design, development, evaluation, and implementation. It had resulted in the researcher to know more in terms of efforts in order that those children will change those with more polite language such as words of sorry, excuse me, thank, please help me and others according to situation and condition faced by them. Any solution for solving the problem above is by using interactive multimedia.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the interpretation of the religious understanding of hearing and speech-impaired children whether it is in accordance with thinking theory in religious psychology according to Piaget, Salkind, Hurlock and Zakiah Daradjat. This qualitative research used interviews to obtain the interpretation of children's religious understanding. The eight aspects that are explored are religion, God, prayer, merit and sin, angels and demons, heaven and hell, death and doomsday. The results of this study indicated that 7 and 8 year old children with hearing impairments interpreted the eight aspects of the religion with religious symbols, and with something that is made real to them. This is in accordance with the theories of Piaget, Salkind, Hurlock, and Zakiah Daradjat; Children who are totally deaf could interpret religion, hell and death in more detail than children who still have very good hearing. From this study, it was also obtained the factors that influence and the constraints, namely age and its hearing impairement, were the reason for parents and teachers not to provide in-depth and precise information about religion due to limitations in communication. Therefore, the researcher provide advice in the form of a good two-way communication approach between parents and children and visual media become one of the good and appropriate communication media to help communicate with hearing and speech-impaired children.

Abstract

This paper discussess the procedure and result of the formulation of the child-friendly teacher's skill in the Early Childhood Education Institution (PAUD). The formulation of the indicators was performed through the following steps: conducting conceptual study towards the child-friendly teachers’ skill in PAUD, constructing the operational definition from the child-friendly teachers’ skill, establishing operational definition, the operational definition was used to construct a blueprint containing indicators of child-friendly teachers in PAUD. The result of the present study is in the form of three indicators of child-friendly teacher. These indicators are teacher’s skill in planning, implementin, evaluating and reporting the result of the implementaion of non discriminative education stimulus, health, nutrition, care, and protection program for children in PAUD.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was examined the implementation of writing skill stimulation at TK Negeri Pembina Manahan Surakarta. The research used a qualitative approach with ethnomethodology study. The subject of research were teachers and children aged 5-6 years. The data collecting techniques used interview, observation, and documentation. The techniques for testing the data validity by triangulation of technique and source. The data analysis technique used the interactive data model by Milles and Huberman.The research result showed that TK Negeri Pembina Manahan did the writing skill stimulation through the learning activity based on the Early Childhood Education Curriculum of 2013. The stimulation did through writing activity and writing skill reinforcement activity (drawing, coloring, and cutting). The thematic learning with scientific approach supports the varied writing skill stimulation. These activities are able to support the children’development of writing skill, including: (1) the children are able to grip the pencil; (2) writing the self-name; and (3) writing word and number.
