Abstract

Aircraft Data Network (ADN) is a data communication developed specifically for the aircraft environment. In such environments required data communication system that can work in real time and has a high level of reliability. One of the standards in ADN is Avionics Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet (AFDX) based on the ARINC 664 specification that is data communication standard for ADN that uses IEEE 802.3 standard on physical layer 1 and 2. It becomes the gap and challenge to implement the standard on the component of COTS By utilizing Linux-based embedded systems. The features designed and implemented in this paper are the switching and fault tolerant data components of ARINC 664. From the tests obtained, several results show that ADN functional features can be implemented and can simulate ADN mechanisms including fault tolerance capabilities. But there are performance limitations that the average jitter value of 3380 microseconds obtained has not met the requirements for use on aircraft that should be in the range of 500 microseconds.

Abstract

Piping setup is very important to ensure the safety and eligibility of the piping system before applied in industry. One of the techniques to facilitate perfect piping setup is by employing pipe monitoring robot. Pipe monitoring robot is designed in this research to monitor cracks or any other defects occur inside a pipe. This automatic monitoring is conducted by the application of image processing with canny edge detection. Canny edge detection method detects the edges or lines of any cracks inside the pipe and processes them to create differences in image, therefore only the cracks can be shown and finally, those cracks can be well analyzed. Canny edge detection has 5 processing techniques that are smoothing, finding gradients, non-maximum suppression, double thresholding, and edge tracking by hysteresis. In this research, the experiment was conducted by letting a robot monitoring new pipe and detecting cracks. Two cracks samples were taken and analyzed. The results show that the best value for smoothing is 10 and 5 for thresholding in getting not too blurred or to sharp result.

Abstract

In education world, recognizing the relationship between one subject and another is imperative. By recognizing the relationship between courses, performing sustainability mapping between subjects can be easily performed.  Moreover, detecting and reducing any duplicated contents in several subjects will be also possible to execute. Of course, these conveniences will benefit lecturers, students and departments. It will ease the analysis and discussion processes between lecturers related to subjects in the same domain. In addition, students will conveniently choose a group of subjects they are interested in. Furthermore, departments can easily create a specialization group based on the similarity of the subjects and combine the courses possessing high similarity. In this research, given a good database, the relationship between subjects was calculated based on the proximity of the primary contents of the subjects. The feature used was term feature, in which value was determined by calculating TF-IDF (Term Frequency Inverse Document Frequency) from each term. In recognizing the value of proximity between subjects, cosine similarity method was implemented. Finally, testing was done utilizing precision, recall and accuracy method. The research results show that the precision and accuracy values are 90,91% and the recall value is 100%.

Abstract

A traditional controlling and measuring system both in home industry and factory have many constraints especially in the field of quality and efficiency. Operators have to control and monitor while the tank is in the water filling mode. Consequently, an effective system is needed to increase the ease in industry operation. In this work, an application design of water volume in tank and clarity system has presented using RF04 ultrasonic sensor to detect water level; furthermore, a turbidity sensor was also employed to detect water clarity. Both of them were controlled by National Instrument (NI) myRIO-1900. NI myRIO was used in this work as a controller having automatic on/off relay module employed to the water tank and integrated with a personal computer as human machine interface system (HMI). NI LabView software used as HMI in this work was also connected to Wi-Fi module to establish a remote monitoring role. As a result, the simulation shows that water level can be measured utilizing ultrasonic sensor as well as turbidity sensor detection for water clarity.

Abstract

Basis path testing is a method used to identify code defects. The determination of independent paths on basis path testing can be generated by using Genetic Algorithm. However, this method has a weakness. In example, the number of iterations can affect the emersion of basis path. When the iteration is low, it results in the incomplete path occurences.  Conversely, if iteration is plentiful resulting to path occurences, after a certain iteration, unfortunately, the result does not change. This study aims to perform the optimization of Genetic Algorithm performance for independent path determination by determining how many iteration levels match the characteristics of the code. The characteristics of the code used include Node, Edge, VG, NBD, and LOC. Moreover, Naïve Bayes is a method used to predict the exact number of iterations based on 17 selected code data into training data, and 16 data into test data. The result of system accuracy test is able to predict the exact iteration of 93.75% from 16 test data. Time-test results show that the new system was able to complete an independent search path being faster 15% than the old system.

Abstract

The increasing number of motorcycles in Indonesia creates enormous problems because of the hectic involved; thus, parking management becomes a big challenge. The applicability and the possibility of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) were studied in finding the solution of this pressing issue. The study was conducted at Narotama University which is located in Surabaya, East Java. This study was expected to find solutions related to provide parking facilities using RFID method to identify motorcycles. The goal of this study is to determine the number of motorcycle vehicles which is being parked electronically to facilitate the management in organizing motorcycle in parking facilities. Hence, the management can arrange the requirement of parking system in the future. From the study, it can be concluded that RFID can make the process faster and easier so that the line can significantly be reduced and provide more user friendly system because the system will give the information about parking availability. Moreover, this RFID parking system and the software can be more reliable and secured due to more complete and accurate data in the registration process required to the users.

Abstract

Based on the fact that the impact of educational tools can only be accurately measured through student-centered evaluation, this paper proposes a long-term in-class evaluation for Python Tutor, a program visualization tool developed by Guo. The evaluation involves 53 students from 4 Basic Data Structure classes, which were held in the even semester of 2016/2017 academic year. It is conducted based on questionnaire survey asked to the students after they have used Python Tutor in their half of programming laboratory sessions. In general, there are three findings from this work. Firstly, Python Tutor helps students to complete programming laboratory tasks, specifically for Basic Data Structure material. Secondly, Python Tutor helps students to understand general programming aspects which are execution flow, variable content change, method invocation sequence, object reference, syntax error, and logic error. Finally, based on student perspectives, Python Tutor is a helpful tool positively affecting the students.

Abstract

Malang Waste Bank, or commonly called Bank Sampah Malang (BSM), is a legal entity of incorporated cooperatives built by the Malang municipal government serving as a container of waste management, especially dry waste. During this time, the customer service process conducted in BSM has been not optimal, especially its online service. Some services have been accessible online through website but the information is limited only to the list of prices and types of waste received by BSM. While other necessary information needed by the customers such as balance checking, garbage collection schedule checking, and information about the types of saving managed by BSM has not been covered by the existing online system yet. This research has built an online customer service system based on mobile applications and SMS gateways for BSM. The purpose of the system is to facilitate the customers of BSM to obtain information about the garbage bank, especially for customers having high mobility. Interviews and observation are used as the method of the analysis of the system requirements. Meanwhile, the applications such as MySQL database, Web service, PHP CodeIgniter, SMS Gateway and Android as a language programming are used to develop the system. This system integrates android applications with web based applications by using web service. This system is made so that customers get better service. Evaluation results show the system that has been built has been successfully tested.
