Abstract

This study is a further examination on prophetic paradigm developed by Kuntowijoyo, then it is implemented as a basis in  Islamic learning. According to Kuntowijoyo, there are three basic pillars in developing this prophetic mission, humanism, liberation, and transcendence.  Furthermore, its implications are, first, making prophetic education values as an effort to create Islamic education which is full of love, tolerance, righteousness, respecting the differences and other humanitarian characteristics. Second, Islamic education should follow the mission of Muhammad PBUH as a model in the learning processes. It should refer to Islamic education which teaches wisdom; each human behavior is based on God ‘s rules. Third, science should not be dichotomist. All sciences must have universal values. Therefore, objectification in viewing a science is crucial.

Abstract

Differences always create a complex problem. This can be seen by the fact that variety of religions, ethnics, and languages provoked many riots in Indonesia. As a result, these riots made ‘black history’ in this country. Therefore, it is very important to formulate a philosophical framework in order to solve this problem. Education is one of important media to solve this problem. In this case, education has to create an excellent learning methodology that can accept the variety of religions, ethnics, and languages in the classroom. In this article, there is learning methodology, which can be called Sufism model. This methodology develops both intellectual (ratio) and spiritual capability, which connect  the esoteric dimensions of human being. This Sufism learning methodology engages the substantial meaning from Sufism tradition in order to translate human’s activity based on spiritual aspects. Therefore, human beings are not framed on symbolic meaning that makes differences become a complex problem.

Abstract

This paper studies political model developed by Raja Ali Haji. In his thought on politics, the government should be in the form of kingdom which its authority is held by a king to implement the prosperity of the society. It means that a government needed by Raja Ali Haji is a kingdom based on Islam. This indicates that, based on political science, this kind of government could be classified as ‘Theo-monarchy’, a kingdom government based on God law, i.e.  Islamic law. God law used as a foundation for governmental processes will be able to limit destructive characteristics of a king. In fact, a king should have big responsibility to manage his task as a state leader, namely to bring his people to be happy or prosperous both in the world and here after.
