Abstract

The development of technology and the evolving characteristics of adolescents in the modern era require teachers not only to possess pedagogical competence but also adequate social competence in establishing harmonious, communicative, and inspiring interpersonal relationships. As Islamic-based educational institutions in Bandar Lampung, SMA Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung and SMA Al-Azhar Bandar Lampung exhibit distinctive religious characteristics that are relevant to be examined, particularly in the context of the contribution of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers’ social competence to students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the social competence of PAI teachers in both schools is categorized as good, as reflected in effective communication skills, empathetic attitudes, openness, and exemplary behavior in social interactions. Students’ learning motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, is also categorized as good. The findings suggest that teachers’ social competence contributes positively to enhancing students’ learning motivation, as harmonious interpersonal relationships are able to create a conducive, participatory, and meaningful learning environment. Based on these findings, future research is recommended to examine more deeply the influence of teachers’ social competence using quantitative or mixed methods approaches in order to obtain more measurable levels of effect. Furthermore, future studies may be expanded to different educational levels or other relevant variables, such as teachers’ personality competence, learning environment, and the role of technology in enhancing students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the relationship between the concept of Islah al-Afrad (individual reform) and social welfare from an Islamic perspective, as well as to explore its relevance in the contemporary era. This study is motivated by various modern social problems that indicate that structural development alone has not been fully capable of realizing societal well-being without being accompanied by individual moral and spiritual transformation. Therefore, Islah al-Afrad is viewed as a crucial foundation for building a harmonious and just social order. This research employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, utilizing descriptive-analytical analysis of normative Islamic sources, such as the Qur’an and hadith, as well as relevant contemporary literature. The findings indicate that Islah al-Afrad is closely linked to the creation of social welfare, as individuals of good character and integrity will contribute to the formation of a just, caring, and civilized society. This concept emphasizes that sustainable social change must begin with the internal transformation of the individual, which then impacts the improvement of broader social structures. In the contemporary context, Islah al-Afrad is relevant as an alternative approach to addressing various social challenges, such as moral crises, social inequality, and the disintegration of values. This study contributes to reinforcing the perspective that social welfare in Islam is not merely material in nature, but also encompasses spiritual and moral dimensions as an integral whole.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces an epistemological crisis characterized by a dichotomy between religious and general knowledge, as well as the dominance of a secular paradigm that separates the values of monotheism from the learning process. This crisis is rooted in the weak philosophical foundation of the curriculum, which is no longer based on a holistic Islamic worldview. This study aims to analyze the epistemological concept of the monotheism-based Islamic education curriculum in the thoughts of Imam Al-Ghazali, examine the relationship between reason, revelation, and intuition (kashf) in curriculum reconstruction, and identify the contribution of Al-Ghazali's thought in building a holistic and integrative curriculum paradigm in the modern era. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a library research type. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation of Al-Ghazali's primary works, especially Ihya' Ulumuddin, Mi'yar al-'Ilm, Tahafut al-Falasifah, and Al-Munqidz min al-Dhalal, as well as secondary data in the form of journal articles and relevant books. The data analysis technique uses content analysis with a critical discourse analysis model to uncover the epistemological structure of Al-Ghazali's thought. Based on the description above, this study produces four conclusions. First, the epistemological concept of the Islamic education curriculum based on tawhid in Al-Ghazali's thought is built on the foundation of tawhid as the highest integrating principle that unites all domains of knowledge. Al-Ghazali rejects the separation of religious knowledge and general knowledge, classifying knowledge into fardhu 'ain and fardhu kifayah as a functional differentiation, not a dichotomy. This tawhid epistemology requires the integration of transcendental, cognitive, and moral goals. Second, the triadic relationship between reason, revelation, and spiritual intuition (kashf) is the main pillar of curriculum reconstruction. The three are not hierarchical and mutually exclusive, but rather complement and validate each other, with intuition as the highest validation. Third, Al-Ghazali's criticism of the secular curriculum is highly relevant, especially his criticism of the extreme rationalism of philosophers who ignore revelation. Fourth, Al-Ghazali's contribution to developing a holistic and integrative curriculum paradigm is reflected in the integration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study recommends reconstructing an Islamic education curriculum that is monotheistic, integrative, and oriented toward the formation of a perfect human being.

Abstract

The phenomenon of flexing in the digital era is a behavior that demonstrates a wealth of achievements or lifestyle to gain social recognition, especially among the younger generation. This phenomenon not only impacts social and psychological aspects but is also related to moral and spiritual issues. This study aims to analyze Ustaz Hanan Attaki's lectures on flexing and their relevance to Islamic religious education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research type sourced from books, journals and Ustaz Hanan Attaki's lecture content on YouTube. The results show that flexing behavior can encourage hedonistic consumerism as well as riya’ (riya’), arrogance and tadzib (conceitedness), which are contrary to Islamic values. Ustaz Hanan Attaki's lectures are delivered with a communicative and persuasive approach so as to foster moral awareness of the younger generation in facing the culture of showing off on social media.

Abstract

This study entitled “Living Theology in the Punggahan Tradition among the Javanese Ethnic Community in Paya Lombang, Tebing Tinggi” aims to analyze the Punggahan tradition as both a socio-cultural-religious phenomenon and a manifestation of living theology. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method through observation, interviews, and documentation involving religious leaders, community figures, and members of the Javanese ethnic group. The findings indicate that the Punggahan tradition serves not only as a ritual for welcoming Ramadan but also as a space for integrating social, cultural, and religious values in everyday life. From a socio-cultural-religious perspective, this tradition plays an important role in strengthening social solidarity, togetherness, and harmonious relationships within the community through activities such as communal prayers, grave visits, shared meals, flower bathing rituals, and mutual forgiveness. From the perspective of living theology, the Punggahan tradition demonstrates how Islamic theological values such as gratitude, monotheism (tawhid), Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), self-purification, charity, and prayer are lived and practiced in a concrete and contextual way. These values are not only understood conceptually but are embodied in daily communal practices passed down from generation to generation. Thus, it can be concluded that the Punggahan tradition represents a form of harmony between religion and culture, serving not only a social function but also standing as a real manifestation of living theology in the life of the Javanese community.

Abstract

The clash between state law and Islamic law in regulating polygamy in Indonesia reflects a dual approach to viewing this practice. In the state legal system, the practice of polygamy is restricted by strict administrative requirements, such as the obligation to obtain a court permit and the consent of the first wife as essential conditions. Under Islamic law, polygamy is permitted provided the primary condition of the ability to act fairly is met, without the necessity of following formal state regulatory procedures. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review, examining various legal regulations and Islamic literature to identify forms of normative conflict and their implications for the practice of polygamy. The research findings clearly indicate that the practice of polygamy without official permission from the court and without following the applicable regulatory procedures in Indonesia is still widespread and has the potential to cause legal conflicts, as well as infringe upon the rights of women and children. Therefore, efforts are needed to harmonize the law in order to prevent illegal practices and ensure the protection of the rights of all parties in a fair and just manner.

Abstract

The growing materialism among today's youth often leads to a misunderstanding of success, which is measured only in material terms. This is a challenge in creating a balanced mindset between worldly and ukhrawi life. This study aims to analyze the relevance of the concept of isti'anah according to the interpretation of Bil Imla' by KH Zaini Mun'im in overcoming the temptation of materialism in adolescents. The approach used in this study is a literature review with interpretation analysis and a review of related literature. The results of the study show that the concept of isti'anah teaches Muslims, especially teenagers, to ask for help only from Allah SWT, which can be a solution to avoid the temptation of materialism. This concept also emphasizes the importance of a balance between temporal and spiritual pursuits, by always linking God's help through patience, prayer, and spiritual awareness. In conclusion, the interpretation of Bil Imla' can be an effective guideline to help adolescents form a more balanced mindset, avoid excessive materialism, and increase closeness to Allah in achieving true success.

Abstract

The unstable price fluctuations of basic necessities indicate the potential for market distortion, one of which is the practice of hoarding (ihtikar), which can be detrimental to society. This condition raises questions regarding the compliance of this practice with the principles of Islamic economic law. This study formulates the problem of how the practice of buying and selling hoarded goods is carried out by sellers and how to analyze it from the perspective of Islamic economic law. This study aims to analyze this practice and assess its compliance with the principles of justice, transparency, and welfare. The method used is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques at the Cahaya Baru Bangun Rejo Store, Central Lampung. The results show that sellers purchase goods in large quantities when prices are low, then store them for resale when prices increase, which results in price increases and consumer burdens. This practice is also accompanied by a lack of price transparency. Based on the analysis, this practice points to indications of ihtikar, which is inconsistent with the principles of Islamic economic law because it contains elements of injustice and is detrimental to society.

First, taharah on the physical and physical, such as taharah from uncleanness and hadas or material such as Ma'an t}ahura or holy water. Second, what is meant by pure is not pure as discussed in terms of fiqh or it can also be said to be pure from something physical or material, such as pure from hadas and impurities. However, what is meant is purity of soul and spiritual or non-material. The law of Taharah as interpreted by Ibn Kathir and Wahbah al-Zuhayli states that purification is obligatory for anyone who wants to perform prayers (who has not been purified) and it is sunnah for those who have purified themselves.
